Reading my last review from over 11 years ago, this place is still the same. Though I don't go there as often as before, food continues to be consistently good. Nothing's changed, still an eyesore with ripped swivel stool seats, nobody wiping tables that dirty customers leave, and garbage cans often overflowing. But I'm upping my rating from 3 to 4 stars. Why? Because they are one of the few remaining places that don't ask for a tip (via screen or signed receipt) when paying by credit card for carry-out orders. This wasn't an issue 11 years ago, but it disgusts me today. I've even cut down going to places like that, quite significantly. But I do wish Doggie Diner would take better care of the inside (and remove the HUGE sign that reads that they will be reducing the size of their menu in August, 2021). Ambiance still isn't checked above, as are food and service (gotta wonder why "eyesore" didn't trigger that?--c'mon Yelp). But it's checked now though, lol. read more

SLAPSSSSSSSSS! This small and locally owned 'dawg' (no? not funny.. k fine) spot has been in business for 30+ years. It has all the essentials a binge worthy food outing needs - family and friendly service, fantastic food and space to enjoy it. There is about 20-25 indoor seating arrangements + a slot/gambling area. My husband was frequent here during his younger years and FINALLY introduced me to it. He said the staff members are the same people who took care of him 20+ yrs ago. For food we ordered a gyro with everything, a 2 hot dog combo (comes with a drink and fries), and a side of mozzarella sticks. I INHALED EVERYTHING! My pictures aren't the prettiest, but come on, quality over IG worthy shots. The gyro was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The pita was grilled and had a good char on it. The side of mozzarella sticks were deep fried to the perfect amount of crispy which left the cheese pull game strong. I had a few of the fries and really like that they are thin. Whatever seasoning they use is really good! I'm not typically a french fry person but I might just be now, thanks to Doggie Diner. It's really good I love there cheese fries and the last time we went there my youngest brother eat all his burger and he usually doesn't eat at all but he eat the whole thing. And I love how much cheese fries they gave me. I wish they had bacon cheese fries that would be really good read more

I don't usually trust 1-2 star reviews for two reasons. One is because all they do is write 1-2 stars for almost every establishment. Right there is a loss of credibility. The second reason is because they can't even write a proper review without using at least 5-10 exclamation points. Need I say more? With that said, Doggie Diner provides decent food with generous portions for reasonable prices. Service was good, the kids were very attentive and they made your food fresh. Tables were clean, they are doing some renovations. The casino games were a bit out of place. Parking lot was too dark, it could use more lighting. I almost missed the turn. Garlic bread was decent. It was crunchy but could be softer in the middle. French fries were tasty with the cheese sauce. They give you more than enough sauce which was good. I had the Boston filler - gyro meat and Italian sausage. Great tasting sandwich with plenty of meat. Maxwell Polish is another recommended choice. Overall, good value for what you pay for. read more

Food is solid - hot dog topped however you like it and the fries were delicious and generously portioned! For sure enough for 2. We got the special which was two dogs, fries and a drink for 7.50. They have a nice sized menu. All the guys behind the counter were super friendly and helpful. The only thing that keeps this from a five star were the dirty the floors and tables. read more

The absolute G.O.A.T. in the Woodridge/Downers/Lisle area. You will not find a better hotdog. This is the absolute Gold Standard for gyros. Burgers can go toe to toe with any burger not from a designated Burger place and come out on top. Fries are never anything less than perfect, and you will never feel like you didn't get enough. Daily specials that are always top tier delicious. AND if all that wasn't reason enough to crown Doggie Diner as King, their prices are absolutely outrageous in a good way. Been going here since 1999. It is one of those hidden gems that locals would recommend. Food are still delicious and same staff still works there. Gyros are the best here and they overfill with the meat. I always ask for an extra cup of gryo sauce, so I can eat the extra meat with. And don't forget the fries with its seasoning. Came here for a greasy gyro and this place did not disappoint. They don't have indoor dining and you have to wear a mask but their arcade games are open. Gyro - pretty standard. Pita was fluffy, sauce was creamy and I liked that the meat wasn't gamely at all. Not sure if this was just beef or lamb and beef. Fries - really solid. We moved to Woodridge in 1995 and Doggie has been a fave of ours ever since. Always good, fresh food, generous portions and super nice people working. We've used them for catering block parties, family gatherings, birthdays, etc and recommend them to everyone!!!! Our family has been going to Doggie Diner for years. They have an extensive menu with lots of great choices. the staff always gets the order right and their fries are tasty and plentiful. Amazing atmosphere besides the slot machines. Food is amazing. Saw someone complain on this app that they gave you too many fries? Like dawg what? The people that work there are always so nice and respectful. Growing up in Woodridge this is my go to spot. The Treasure of Woodridge for sure. Will support this business till the day I die honestly (hopefully that isn't soon). The menu is large and there are many different offerings here that are all really great. I recommend the fries as they give you a ton and are just as good as any fry out there in my opinion. They always come out deliciously hot and crispy and honestly make my mouth water. First time trying this place. If u like "greasy spoon" joints this is your place. I ordered a jr gyro, a 1/2 order of fries (which is the smallest) and a tiny cup of cheese for fries. My bill was about $9.50. No drink. The gyro was loaded and it was decent. Nothing spectacular. The fries are SUPER skinny. They were super hot and super greasy. Some people might like them like that. I don't but I'm not gonna say they were bad because some might like them like that. For the smallest size I got a ton of fries. Dining indoors is closed right now due to covid but they are extremely fast in running your carry out order to your car! There are some good specials to take advantage of.
