Dok Khao is always a great dinner option. The restaurant is aesthetically beautiful and decorated in visually pleasing manner. Our server was Chu who was attentive, offered great recommendations and accommodated all of our needs. Our drinks included the pomegranate lemonade which was on the sweeter side but refreshing. Thai ice tea was delicious, sweet but not too sweet. Midnight mermaid was tasty and doesn't taste strong liquor wise but slowly creeps up on you We started with the Bangkok wings and chive cakes. The wings were flavorful and chive cakes were mouth watering. Our entrees include the volcano seafood which had a lot of heat and nice combination of seafood. The lychee duck was sweet and savory and the duck was cooked to perfection. The Thai basil chicken bites were seasoned well and combined well with the fried rice . The cry baby noodles were similar to drunken noodles. Sauce has sweet and savory combination. Finally for dessert, we had an assortment which were all delectable. The chocolate cake was rich and paired well with the vanilla ice cream. The Thai ice crème brûlée was different and creamy. The mango sorbet was palette cleansing.
Dok Khao is probably my favorite restaurant in Merriweather. They're consistently great. I have noticed that prices have gone up since last year, which is understandable due to inflation, but they haven't lowered the quality of the food at all. My go-to order is their pad Thai and kapaw fried rice. Their pineapple fried rice is also really good, along with their curry. The tom yum and spring rolls are great appetizers, too. Honestly, I think everything on the menu is good. It's truly a staple and iconic restaurant in Merriweather.
Stopped by after our round of golf and this place did not disappoint. We were greeted right upon entry with a warm smile and seated right away. The service was fast and very helpful. I opted for the Cry Baby dish and it was tasty with a little sweetness and tanginess. The decorations were very vibrant with an abundance of colors from flowers and decorations. A great option all around and will definitely be back again. Parking is shared with the surrounding residences and businesses. Enjoy!
Dok Khao is such a nice spot for Thai food, especially if you catch their happy hour which is only available at the bar. The restaurant is well decorated it has that trendy vibe. We came during happy hour (Mon-Fri 3-6 PM at the bar). Most appetizers were $8, and cocktails were around $9. We ordered the healthy roll, papaya salad, and jacketed shrimp all $8 each. The healthy roll was fresh with crisp veggies and a peanut sauce. The papaya salad which is my go-to had a good balance of tangy, sweet, and spicy flavors. The jacketed shrimp were crispy - no complaints there. For drinks, I got a lychee mojito and a hot thai tea latte. The mojito was light and refreshing and the thai tea latte was creamy and warm. Overall, great flavors, good service and ambiance, and good value. Definitely a spot I'd come back to, especially if I'm in Columbia.
We were told our wait time would be 30 minutes but it wasn't even 15. We got the crab Rangoon, pineapple fried rice, and crispy duck basil. The rangoons were heavy on the cheese and I could barely taste the crab. HOWEVER, my duck basil was SO good. My spice tolerance is high so I recommend less for whoever doesn't like/tolerate spice. The pineapple fried rice was also good. Our waitress was nice and attentive and helped me decide on my dish. The ambiance is nice although it can get too busy and noisy. One note is that the bathroom was messy. I wish they checked on the condition of the bathroom intermittently.
It's been ages since I last went the Merriweather Post Pavilion area. It was for a Dave Matthew's Band concert, actually, and that kinda gives you a clue as to how old I am. Dom Khao Thai Eatery is a very visually appealing, Instagrammable restaurant. There were flowers all around, and there was even a fountain in the middle of the restaurant! Food wise, the Thai food was alright. Portions could have been more generous. We had the pad thai, pineapple fried rice, and the duck. It is worth mentioning that the music was kind of loud inside. Overall it was a good lunch experience.
Tons of free parking. Accepts both cash and credit card. We decided to come here to celebrate a special occasion. This interior of this business is very casual and good vibes. Seems like folks here enjoy their time inside the restaurant. We ordered various dishes from their Tom Yum, lamb curry, crab curry, steam dumplings, duck roll and pad Thai. The Tom Yum soup is a combination of spicy and sour. Good for a cold day. Their duck roll was delicious and big enough to share with another person. The steam dumplings appears to look more like a shumai and was okay. Nothing too special. The lamb curry was good, but a bit too sweet. The crab curry was really good and savory. The pad Thai was okay. Wished the portion was a bit bigger and noodles be a bit more drier. Oh and the staff here are very friendly. He came by our table various times and help answer our question. In terms of pricing, this place is more on the pricier side. Good place to celebrate special moments like birthdays and graduations. Definitely come here during the lunch hours. This place gets very busy during dinner hours.
I visited Dok Khao Thai during their cherry blossom pop-up and was genuinely impressed! As soon as you walk in, you can instantly see how beautifully decorated the restaurant was for spring. There were cherry blossoms everywhere, it was so aesthetic and perfect for pictures! I tried several items from the seasonal spring menu, including the crispy golden bags, Phuket chili crab, yellow curry platter, lamb curry noodles (khao soi), and beef noodle soup. I loved how flavorful each dish was. The khao soi was my absolute favorite and a dish I HIGHLY recommend! The lamb was incredibly tender and paired with the curry noodles? It was phenomenal, rich, and ultra comforting! For their cherry blossom pop-up, they also had spring special drinks. I loved that their cocktails can be made into mocktails! Any drink you order at Dok Khao is guaranteed to come with an adorable presentation, like the Neko Hana which was served in a cat-shaped glass! Something new I've never tried before was their lychee espresso, such a fun drink with a unique twist! Overall, Dok Khao is easily one of the best Thai restaurants in the Columbia, MD area. It was the perfect mix of a lively atmosphere with attentive service, creative seasonal dishes, and a great spot to take family or friends!
I recently visited Dok Khao Thai Eatery for happy hour, and overall, it was a great experience that I'm definitely looking forward to repeating. Customer Service: I was greeted immediately upon arrival and chose to sit at the bar, so there was no wait. My bartender/server, PB, was fantastic--super friendly, attentive, and welcoming. She checked on me within 5 minutes, brought water right away, and even went out of her way to compliment me, which was a really nice touch. Her service truly elevated the experience. Food: * HH Gyoza (3) - minced chicken, cabbage, onion, ginger with Thai herb sauce (3/5): Mild in flavor overall. The filling could use a bit more seasoning, and I would've loved a sweet/spicy kick in the sauce to balance it out. * HH Bangkok Wings (3) - (5/5): These were a standout! Perfectly fried and tossed in a delicious spicy chili sauce. Flavorful and cooked just right. Drinks: * White Peach Martini - 5/5 ($8 HH): Light, refreshing, and well-balanced. * Cheshire Cat - 5/5 ($16): Bourbon, blueberries, lime, syrup, and ginger ale--absolutely loved this one. Smooth with great flavor. * Sip Like A Star - 3/5 ($17): Bourbon, peach, passion fruit, pineapple. Tasty but a bit too sweet for my preference (I ended up exchanging it for the Cheshire Cat). I love the ambiance there. The place feels like you walked into a little Thai garden with all the colors and floral decorations. On a Saturday it was packed, but this was an impromptu stop so we grabbed seats at the bar. What we ordered: Chicken Cashew Hearty, savory, and exactly what you want from a comfort Thai dish. Lots of flavor and a great mix of textures. Spicy Tilapia with Mango Sauce This one was perfect in my opinion. Light, crispy fish with that sweet-meets-savory mango sauce that just works. Thai Coffee Strong and bold... just the way I like it. Lychee Thai Tea Sweet, refreshing, and exactly her vibe.

This place was highly recommend as a spot to try. Overall, my experience was okay--our server disappeared halfway through our meal so we were waiting an extra hour tryin to request the receipt from other servers which was a whole ordeal. The seats are fairly cramped, so you'll be pretty close to your neighbor, especially if you go for early lunch (like we did) as it gets PACKED. The place is nicely decorated and apparently they change decor based on the seasons which is cute. Food-wise, our starters/appetizers were better than the main dishes. So flavorful and cooked perfectly! I can't remember the exact names of what I ordered but one items was a samosa of sorts, and the other were their sweet and spicy wings. The entree I ordered was the crabmeat fried rice with shrimp, it wasn't really seasoned so it tasted fairly bland. I had a lot of leftovers, so I brought it home to refresh with a few seasonings and added some sweet Asian chili sauce and it tasted AMAZING. Overall, not a noteworthy experience and I more than likely wouldn't be back--though if you do visit definitely consider trying their appetizers!
I got the chance to go after a spa day with some friends and I was very pleased. The music was definitely grooving and the food came quickly and fresh. I got the soft shell crab in the pumpkin curry sauce with jasmine rice. Since we were a party of 6, we had 20% gratuity added which I didn't mind. I also had a lychee martini which was very tasty and well crafted. I only give it 4 starts because the seating was a little tight and papaya salad could have had more spice. I'll be back!

Beautifully designed restaurant, a more elevated Thai dining experience at a higher price point. I love the fresh flowers on tables, artsy menu, and shiny chili sauce tray. The drinks were unique and tasty, next time I would come for their reverse happy hour (which I only learned from seeing a poster in the bathroom) and try a different entree + dessert. Unfortunately the soup noodles we ordered were quite underwhelming. The chicken was dry and there was not much topping, pretty much just a big bowl of noodles. Pad thai was tasty though, I liked how chewy the noodles were. Service is alright, they validate parking for up to two hours. I hope that next time I will have a better experience. read more
This was my second time having Thai food it was way better than the first time. This place was excellent. I love the ambiance and even though it was very packed Friday we were sat quickly. We ordered the chicken satay for the appetizer; to me this was okay but the cucumber and onion sauce definitely elevated this item. My entree (Kana Crispy Pork) was 10/10 meal. One of my favorite Thai places in the area! I come back to it often. The ambiance is perfect from celebrations to catch ups with friends from out of town. This time I ordered the soft shell crab and it was AMAZING. The sauce was so savory and slightly sweet - perfect to eat with the rice. And the soft shell crab fried to perfection. Service is attentive as well. My water cup was always full! Only thing is the restaurant can get loud especially if you're seated in the middle of the restaurant and it's a full day. read more

This visit felt extra exciting because I noticed the menu has changed, and I love when a restaurant keeps things fresh and gives you new options to try instead of staying stuck on the same items forever. We ordered a Frozen Virgin Daiquiri (Blue Hawaii), Lychee Thai Iced Tea, two Egg Nogs, a Salmon Roll, Som Tum, Tom Yum Chicken, Lychee Duck (extra spicy), Shrimp Hot Pot (extra spicy), and Fruit Punch. The Lychee Duck and Shrimp Hot Pot were bold, flavorful, and spicy in the best way. The Tom Yum Chicken was comforting and packed with flavor, the Som Tum was fresh and tangy, and the Salmon Roll was light and clean. The drinks were fun and refreshing too. We had the Brulee and the Volcano Bingsu, and both were really good. The only reason I didn't finish the Bingsu is because I'm just not a big fan of strong coffee flavors, but that's personal taste, not the quality. The vibe was relaxed, the food came out in good timing, and the experience reminded me why I keep coming back here. Definitely recommend. read more
I love this place, but I don't come very often. It can easily get very pricey, but it's also so hard to choose a dish. I am not easily torn, but they have such an array of curry dishes and compliment them very well. The downside, it's no secret so getting a spacious table is unlikely. What I discovered last visit was the purple tao beverage made with Jasmine tea. It was really tasty and in a surprising way. I'm still in shock I had ot over coffee and woth no regret. I would also say the line for the restroom can be quite the unexpected wait. I'm a prefer to wash hands before diving into food, but here a hand sanitizer usually suffices just fine. read more

Stopped by Dok Khao Thai for a quick lunch, and the ambiance immediately drew me in. It's fun, colorful, and full of great photo opps. The food and drinks were delicious! We ordered the drunken noodles (no protein) and I tried a fall special, the Phuket Chili Crab, almost like a pumpkin curry paired with fried soft-shell crab and rice. So good. For drinks, we had the pomegranate lemonade and the lychee Thai iced tea, both were refreshing and flavorful. A few bites into my meal, I found a long hair and let the server know. Someone came over right away to apologize and offered to remake the dish. They ended up comping that dish, which I wasn't expecting but genuinely appreciated. We'll definitely be back. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled amazing! There's so much more on the menu I want to try. read more
Met my friend here for happy hour - this served as a midway point between Baltimore and SE DC. It's a super cute space with a lot of character. We chose to sit at the bar and order an assortment of apps: Papaya Salad, Gyoza, Larb Gai, Bangkok Wings, and Spring Rolls washed down with a White Peach Mojito Everything was delicious and a great portion for just 2 of us! Our bartender was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our meals. The cocktails were pretty standard but overall it was great quality for the price. Their happy hour is daily during the week from 3-6p! They even have special events out on the green you can enjoy if you're a patio patron! Highly recommend! read more

This place right by the Merriwether Pavilion is a great place to stop in to get some solid Thai food in a very cute restaurant. Service was quick despite it being crowded on a Saturday for lunch and the extra spice tray lets you customize the spiciness beyond what you ask for when you order. Would return again! read more

I have been hearing great things about this place, and my esthetician raved about it. So we stopped in after our spa day at The Pearl for lunch and everything was absolutely delicious and flavorful. When I say this particular Saturday was packed, it was packed. We just sat at the bar and I am glad we did. Our bartender was really nice and attentive. We both started with the Tom Yum soup which is my favorite. I got the shrimp and she got the veggie. Both soups were delicious and the lemongrass broth hit just right. We also shared the crispy salmon rolls which was really good as well. For lunch I did the street noodle and she got the hangover Lo Mein with flank steak. Both dishes were good and the portions were huge so we definitely took our food home. They have a really nice cocktail and mocktail list. Some friends took me to Dok Khao a month or so ago and it has become my favorite Thai place since. I have ordered take out so many times since I visited the place the first time but when we ate there we had tried the gyoza, crab rangoons, curry puffs and spring rolls from the appetizers- the crab rangoons, curry puffs and gyoza are a must. From mains- I highly recommend the street noodles, it my favorite so far, it combines a nice amount of spiciness with shrimp/chicken and veggies inside. The dok khao pad Thai is a second favorite. My husband really likes the chicken cashew! The lamb curry is another great choice too! As far as the place goes- it has indoor and outdoor seating, we went when the weather was nice so we were able to enjoy our meal outside, plus it is located in a lively area of Colombia with many other restaurants and shops near so it's fun to walk around after eating. Service was fast and we had a nice waiter. Overall, would definitely recommend this place. read more
As always, Dok Khao did a great job!! My family likes to eat family-style when we are there, so we ordered quite a few dishes. They pushed together 2 tables so we could seat 9, and we got great service even on a super busy Thursday night. Food was delicious, highly recommend the Kana Crispy Pork, drunken noodles, and any of their curries. Their song playlist included pop music, and it was not too loud but you were still able to hear it over everyone talking. Love the decor and always forget to take pics, especially the fountain in the middle. read more
The best Thai food I have ever eaten! The crispy pork basil. My goodness, the pork was fried to perfection and that chef's special spicy basil sauce. MY GOODNESS. Think a mixture between garlic sauce and general tso's with a burst of fresh basil. I can't even describe it, that's how good the sauce was. I want to bathe in it. The end. Cocktails? Everything was delicious!! I opted for the virgin strawberry daiquiri and it hit the spot. Yet again, the server was attentive and helpful, even helping with transferring soup from a large bowl to a to-go container. My yellow curry had just the right amount of spice -- I could still enjoy the flavors without feeling overwhelmed. The wonton soup was fresh, light, and comforting. Our group of 12 joined together at this popular neighborhood restaurant located in the Merriweather district in Columbia. We went on a Tuesday evening for dinner and it felt like a weekend crowd. ****Food was delicious and appetizers and main meals were well received. Their blends of various sauces, spices and herbs are well thought out for each particular dish. **** Service was friendly and explanations given about the ability to tone the spice level up or down for certain dishes was very helpful. ****Decor without the summer decorations were cute but a bit distracting. The regular decor is bright and colorful on its own. The noise level can be high at times especially when a birthday is being celebrated...and the volume of piped in music can make carrying a normal level of conversation difficult. So be prepared. I would maybe try to come back for a weekday lunch to see if it would be crowded, however being popular is usually a case for a restaurant where the food is much enjoyed. read more

A lively Thai restaurant with tasty and generous servings and creative drinks. We came at 8:30pm here on a Sat evening (Sep 2025), and found a nearly-full restaurant still busy from the evening rush. It's among other restaurants and establishments just south of Merriweather Park, fronting on a small well-lit greenspace where families were playing, yes at 8:30pm! You can park in one of the smallish nearby lots, or more-likely find a space in the tall free Merriweather garage a couple blocks away. I think we arrived just at the end of their busiest Saturday-evening hours. The small outdoor-patio was full, and the bright interior also looked packed, yet we were seated in minutes by the friendly hostesses. All of Columbia is here: at least two groups celebrating birthdays with a little bit of singing, extended families, couples, and some solos at the 14-seat bar. By the way, the bar-stools are backless. The restaurant was still brightly decorated for the summer with sea-green walls, clever stylized white parrot wall-sconce lighting, and beach-themed inflatables like beachballs, life-rings, and the occasional large smiley shark. It was a submerging roar of conversation with a lively background of club-style-music pulsing not-too-loud. There are soft quilted wall-lining seats, and otherwise mostly simple classic bent-wood bistro chairs. The menu is extensive, including quite an array of drinks and chef-specialties. We started with a fun flavorful $16 Aperol Spritz with a fresh sweet orange wedge and of course sparkling wine, and a $15 smooth and foamy south-Thailand inspired Chumphon: a crafted gin-sour with gentle elderflower and sour yuzu-fruit juice, topped with lightly-frothed egg white, and zinged with a bit of Monster BFC energy-adaptogen drink! Delicious refreshing beverages at reasonable local prices. We chose the lightly-fried-tofu version of a flavorful generous $19 Pad Cellophane of ephemeral cellophane noodles, onions and scallions and tomatoes, a little bit of eggs, and savory shiitake mushrooms. And an equally generous $26 very crispy thin-sliced duck with bright minty basil, bell peppers, and thick rich sweet sauce, in my case prepared perfectly mildly-spiced at my request. Both were full-flavored and luxurious. I think most of our conversation was about the food! And our servers were friendly, quick, polite, and very attentive. We enjoyed our late evening in this lively elevated tasty restaurant, followed by a relaxing walk around the area's nice little collection of other restaurants, and a few minutes on the quiet bench-swings off of the north edge of Busboys :-) read more
The place is one of the most well decorated restaurants I've been to. I love the use of colors and flowers and even a fountain in the middle of the restaurant! It was also surprisingly packed for a Thursday night. I started with the crab rangoons. They were tasty, but I felt like they were 90% cream cheese 10% crab. For drinks, I tried the Sip Like a Star. 10/10 for presentation and tasted great. Their drinks are pricey but worth it, so pretty!! I got the Dok Khao Pad Thai as my main dish which i was hesitant to try a different take on my usual pad thai order but it was needed!!! I don't usually have pad thai with pork, but i ended up liking it more than i expected. I was also little nervous becuase the menu said it would be spicy, but it ended up being the perfect kick, kind of like a hot honey which really worked. I think this is my favorite Thai restaurant now. The decor is so cute inside but it's the food and drinks that are standouts. We came on a Friday night and it was packed. We had about a 30 mins wait before we got seated. Our server was friendly and great. We had time to review the menu while waiting and ordered our drinks first thing - Lycheetini for me and Spicy Daisy for him. Our drinks were so good! For food, we ordered the Fried Chive Cake appetizer and shared the Crabmeat Fried Rice and Street Noodles. Wow, everything was delicious. We didn't know what the chive cake was but it was so good! The dipping sauce it came with was great. The street noodles were a little sweet and the fried rice was simple but great. As separate dishes they were amazing but even combined a bit, they were still even more amazing. We also got their Sweet Sticky Rice & Mango for dessert. Came here on Sunday at 7 pm and it was pretty crowded but my friend and I were able to get seated immediately! We ordered pad Thai and mango sticky rice. Both came very fast and was delicious. The portion of the mango sticky rice was pretty small but the pad Thai portion was very large. The service was good and our waiter was attentive and kind. The restaurant is pretty crowded, they really packed in the tables and it is very hard to get around. The bathrooms are in the back but are single stall so I had to wait. I love the interior design, especially the beach balls on the roof and the water fountain in the middle. The decorations really add to the experience. read more

Very popular Thai restaurant in the Merriweather District and always busy for a reason! The food is delicious. I've been several times and it never disappoints. The menu is expansive so there's something for everyone's taste. Same goes for the specialty cocktails. We've never made reservations; however, though they are typically very busy on the weekends for dinner, the tables turn quick so the wait is usually doable. You may also luck up and get seats at the bar where the full menu is also available. The decor is cute and fun too. Dok Khao will always be in rotation for us when craving Thai food. read more

Yes, we had $19 pad thai cellophane and $26 crispy basil duck, plus two $15 drinks. With a tip, it was right about $100.

Street parking, depending on the day and time it may be hard to park right in front of the place

The do, and I recommend them. We didn't have one and waited 20 minutes (estimate was 30) for a table on a Wednesday night.
So, my gauge of "spicy" is that I devour homemade jalapeño poppers & love "medium" chipotle (not the restaurant) salsa. So how does the Dok Khao Pad Thai, listed as spicy, compare? TIA
I'm pretty sure their spice ranges from level 1 pepper to level 4 pepper on their menu. I got a three pepper spice on my Drunken Noodle and it was plenty hot enough. I would define it like habanero - approaching ghost pepper. I think level four…
