We sat in the bar drying out after a long walk, drinking real ales in our slippers - perfect! The food is good - not gastro pub levels, but reasonable quality and a great price. The pies and puddings are just what you need after a day spent walking amongst the Stiperstones hills. It's in beautiful surroundings, with the Devil's Chair nearby, a prehistoric stone circle, lots of puffball mushrooms and plenty of unspoilt countryside.

The pub is quaint and unspoiled, with a real fire in the lounge. The food is very reasonably priced, most meals being under £7, and is basic but acceptable at the price. I had a Sunday lunch, the beef was rare and thickly sliced but the roast potatoes were disappointing as the looked as if they had been in a fryer rather than an oven and the gravy was not up to much either, but the local paper gave the other meals and the pub in general a rave review last weekend. The staff are friendly, they will aslo collect you from a bus if necessary and you can also stay here. They have real ale, Shropshire Lass was excellent according to my husband and two drinks two Sunday roasts and a coffe was !3.90. The views are to die for, so give this little known area a try.

Very hospitable staff, efficient and friendly service. The food was of excellent quality considering the price. I had a main course (risotto) followed by bread and butter pudding - and it came to 9.45. Would definitely go there again.

We went out for lunch and discovered this little Inn in the middle of beautiful Countryside.The menu had a fair selection and so I had fish and my other half had the curry which he says was great and he is a curry fanatic. The food was really good and the quality was excellent and the prices were extremely reasonable, the inn's atmosphere was family friendly and warm. As well as serving food this Inn has several rooms to let although it is normally full during the week, but weekends are possible during off peak periods, and the rates are very reasonable. The staff and landlady were very helpful and friendly and we will go there again as there was lots of interesting things to do in and around the countryside, there are couple of National Trust Properties with lovely gardens and hikes, fishing, watching the local rugby team, lovely riverside walks over the fields, or visit Leominster which is a quaint little market town. It is in the small village of Pontrhydfendigaid which is a few miles outside of Tregaron. What surprised me about the place was how lovely the staff were. We were allowed to take our dog into the pub (although we sat outside for dinner on our first visit as it was so sunny. There is a beer garden at the rear, tables out the front (the street it is on is deadly quiet) and inside there is a small bar area with dining tables and a pool room - i didnt see if there was anything else! On our first visit my two dining partners had the burger - which was awesome! no ordinary burger, it was fully loaded with all manner of stuff, and the chips were to die for. I had a smoked salmon and new potato salad which was in a beautiful dressing and had green beans with it (i hate green beans but magically these were lovely and i ate every last one!). each main meal was less than a tenner. We loved it so much that we went back on our final night. the pub (bearing in mind its in the middle of nowhere, well to us city types it seemed like that!) to find two swedish girls (the barmaid being one) and a Dutch family...plus a barman from Wolverhampton - very cosmopolitan!! The food again was excellent - i opted for the burger and my friends had the belly pork and lamb shank....we had starters (my memory fails me here) and puddings - apple crumble, sticky toffee pudding and fudgecake - all were delicious. The menu for three courses for the three of us was less than £60. The staff were a delight - the service was friendly and impeccable with much humour thrown in. I would HIGHLY recommend this pub! We are vegetarians, so I can't comment on most of the menu items, but the vegetarian items were all wonderful. The biggest standout is the mushroom appetizer, which is made with cheese, cream, and lots of garlic. The pizza is world-class. The beer is great, the prices are low, and Tom, the bartender, is friendly and funny.

And really this is the only restaurant in the area. We usually stop in at the bar and grab a pint while the staff gets a big enough table to handle the family. Service here has always been outstanding. Even with newer, untrained staff they seem to have things under control. Prices are a bit higher than most of my cheap (Scottish) family members would like to pay, but everyone always leaves full and happy. Portions are very large so if you want to save room for dessert (trust me save room) split some apps or skip them all together. Pretty sure this place gets packed on weekends as the bar scene attracts lots of locals.

The pub is a decent size and also has a large beer garden which will be nice if we get a summer? There is a huge range of wines available on the chalk board, and a good choice of ales and lagers. The menu was good even though it was a little pricey for the area but when we had the food it was certainly worth it! I had homemade burger with chips which was delicious and my other half had a pork dinner which was also melt in the mouth tasty! I would recommend highly and will be visiting again soon.

Beer is focused on the outstanding Three Tuns beers brewed next door. These our simply outstanding beers, and the traditional cask ale s were in perfect condition. This is a huge plus and actually the main reason why we were here. Food is also excellent. We had outstanding lamb and roast pork belly, with trimmings also cooked perfectly. 5 stars.
