Purchase is two pound bag($9.98) and limited to one bag. Problem is the coupon only covers one, 2 pound bag. Dillion's pushes purchases of items with a limit of 5. Then they push selling 5 items for a $1 off per item. Having to navigate EVERY coupon, every $1/off per mandatory 5 item minimum gets old having to inspect every element of coupons, ads(mix & max), 5 item minimum ($1off each item). Dang, give shoppers some space. Receiving a discount really takes savvy. Is the point to lead a shopper(a lot of seniors who do NOT use cell phones, i phones, tablets,etc.) into the store then overload them with EXTREMELY small print. Almost like a bait & switch. And yes I know the legal definition of bait & switch. Why confuse people? Especially elderly?

In these days of extremely high grocery prices, $6 dozens of eggs, one would think that being the only grocery chain in town would make them want to keep the customers loyal and be LOYAL to their customers. That is not the case with the Great Bend, Ks. store. I witnessed today, an elderly shopper, nice lady, get totally berated because she actually thought the price on the shelf tag would be the price she would be charged, boy was she wrong. Their tags are so small in lettering that the shopper didn't see the part that says you must buy "5" of those items to get any deal whatsoever. The supervisor, "Christine", made her feel like a child in front of 6 other shoppers, her fellow community members, and to top it off, the fact that she was totally mortified/embarrassed when told her so called weekly specials, were only special if you were able to download the coupon herself. She ws told she had to do it before coming into the store so as not to hold up the line, this lady had no idea how to download or receive those benefits. I thought the lady was going to cry. .(shame on Christine) . The elderly are getting "bait and switched" at this location and maybe even all of Kroger Stores, simply because they aren't completely computer literate. They advertise these great deals, tag them with great prices and then charge them regular price at the register before the customer can even check the receipt. (that is if you can even read the receipt because the ink print is so light you can't make out what was actually charged). This abuse of the elderly has to stop, even if the rest of the community has to stand up for our parents' rights to not own a "smart phone", not know how to download on a computer, or worse yet, not know how or be willing to confront those in charge that pick their pocket every time they shop.

When we stopped at the Cenex location my daughter went in to use the restroom and get a soda and some candy. She had my credit card in her hand. I waited for her in the car. When she comes out with $6.33 worth of soda and candy she proceeds to tell me "the lady in there thought I was stealing", shocked I asked her what she was talking about. My 12 year old daughter said "I went to look at the candy, then I went up to the register to ask where the restroom was and the lady said "what do you have in your pocket? Are you going to steal something"", my daughter was upset and said "Mom I've never stole anything before, ever" she then tells me "I told the lady no and told her I just had my phone in my pocket, then she glared at me and told me where the restroom was". At this point any parent can imagine my anger with the transaction that occurred. I took her soda, candy and recipt into the store, went up to the counter and asked both ladies behind the register "Which one of you accused my 12 year old daughter of stealing?" This older lady came to the register and said "I didn't accuse her of stealing I just asked her what was in her pocket and asked if she was stealing", I replied "how is that not accusing her of stealing?". I proceeded to demand a refund and told the lady we would go down the street to the Casey and get what she was wanting. After returning my money, I said "Unbelievable and so rude", the lady said "I was just doing our job". I spoke with my daughter on how to handle situations like that and what she should have done. I also explained that just because we are somewhere to buy something does not mean we have to. If someone is rude and hateful there is no need to support the business and we take our money elsewhere. My daughter continued to comment on her experience and continued to say things like, "I would never steal", "I can't belive that lady was so mean". In a world full of negative influences I try my best to keep my daughter grounded in good values, ethics and moral responsibility. This experience negatively impacted her and that is upsetting. She learned a good lesson, and I will never support a Cenex/Ampride again. There is a convenience store on just about every corner now. Ill support the ones that focus on customer service.

Luckily, they did and so much more! I was actually quite surprised at the amount of inventory in this small space. It doesn't feel cramped but they definitely put in a good amount and variety of product. I was quite shocked at some of the finds because tbh, I didn't think a small town in Kansas would have some of the things this store had. The produce section looked fresh and clean. We bought a bagged salad but they also had really nice, fresh fruits and veggies. We wanted watermelon but it was too big for the two of us on vacation but turns out they have cut portions in the fridge. If you've never tried black diamond watermelon, do so. They didn't have a huge takeaway section but we bought some sandwiches and snacks in case we didn't have time to eat out (everything closes early around here). We also get premade sandwiches at my job and let me tell ya this sandwich blew my work sandwich out of the water. The most shocking thing I found was that they have mochi ice cream! I was not expecting that. The service is great. Both times we were in the person working treated us like friends which can make for sure a pleasurable experience.
