My hubby was clueless and had no idea what was going on when I told him to make a Uey (u-turn). It's a grocery store. I first heard of it while watching a Married With Children episode in 1991. Not sure if I heard it from Peggy or Marcy but I've always wanted to check-in a Piggly Wiggly ever since then. LoL! Wait... is there a Piggly Wiggly in Illinois? I thought the Bundy's lived in Chicago. And I know it's a grocery store but we don't have this in California. We bring home the bacon from a local Safeway, Raley's, Save Mart, Food 4 Less (which are all good stores)... but you get the idea, the names aren't as catchy as Piggly Wiggly. The store is so clean and well kept. We purchased a few food items... water and snacks including a Piggly Wiggly shopping bag. Dollar General 1102 Brownsboro Road…read more4/2 10:00 am Folks have been disgruntled about the neighboring Dollar Generals but I had a wonderful experience this morning! I stopped by at about 10 a.m. on 4/2 to pick up milk, but I looked at the DG App ahead of time to see if there were other items of interest. As I entered I was exuberantly greeted by the female employee at the register, who I presume is Lucy based on the name on my receipt! We conversed briefly about the new flavors of M&Ms. As I continued perusing the store, I was greeted by a male employee. He asked if I needed help finding anything, which I didn't. And while I was there, a customer asked me if I knew where the crackers were and the male employee was there to direct him to the crackers. I ended up buying quite a few items and Ms. Lucy was professional and friendly as she rung up my items, making sure my applicable digital coupons were deducted from my purchase! There were a few boxes in the aisles but I was able to get around them. I will definitely return to this DG!

This is also a convenience store if you need a snack or something. Note that the speed limit drops on US 72 as it goes thru Gurley. It has a history as a speed trap. Worse yet, the locals often will pull out in front of you, drive one block at 20 mph, and exit the other side of the road.

Everywhere we went, things looked the same or it was over priced. We stopped in to Hartlex, thinking it would probably be just furniture but we were desperate. This has now become our official shopping place for gifts. It's not just antique furniture (which were all STUNNING by the way), but decanters, beautiful wall art, jewelry, bed and bath items, lighting, crystal...SO MUCH. We were there for hours and enjoyed every minute of it. We ended up leaving with some things for ourselves too. The owners are hilarious and very personable which made the experience even better. 10/10 would recommend.

My daughter wanted a pack of gum at the register, but realized she only had $1 and needed $1.17 more. I took out my wallet to cover her for the cost, and Jailin, the cashier, refused to take my money and told my daughter he will pay for it and all he asks in return in that she get good grades. He said this with a big friendly smile, and truly made our day. THIS deserves a shout out, and I'll be sharing this with the Mapco Corporate Office. Kudos to Jailin and all the great staff at this location!
