Yet, like with most co-ops (and from what I was told) the variety usually changes monthly here, which I guess is sometimes bittersweet. I wouldn't consider myself an art critic but the majority of art found here would either be considered crafts and wall or "sofa art." Not a lot of modern, contemporary or global influences. There was some nice ornamental pottery pieces displayed by the front door (sorry, forgot to note the artist) but mostly utilitarian-mugs, vases, bowls. Met and talked with a Virginia Killian, a founding member and instructor. She showed us around and talked a little about her own history while showing some of her displayed pieces. She explained there wasn't many more galleries in the area, which was disappointing-mostly antique shops. They do have a medium-sized studio in the back which we were allowed to explore. Here is where they teach everything from basic drawing, to stained glass to oil painting. Check their site for prices and schedules. Art is relative. Everyone's style is different and it never hurts to explore such a gallery for you never know what you're going to find. If I return to Marietta I'll pop back in to see what's on display.

My wife and I love to start our river crawl at Riverview Antiques by the Ohio River, and gradually, shop by shop, make our way down Front Street until we can rest our feet and sink our teeth into homemade fudge at Favorite Things. Riverview is operated by knowledgeable gentlemen who really know (A) where to find cool antiques, and (B) how to present them in a store so that you feel like you're in a time machine and walking around someone's living room 100 years ago. Our fifth & final stop today was the Marietta Antique Mall in downtown Marietta Ohio. Free parking, dim lighting and very musty smelling. Now this one level older building has a good size free parking lot and it's a little dim inside (could use some additional lighting to brighten & cheer it up) Tons of Fenton in this shop!!! But hey, Fenton Factory across Ohio River in Williamson, WV. Didn't buy anything very very expensive!!! Be sure to wear a sweater or jacket because it is very chilly in there. It was a nice 1 he drive from our Home, great area to visit!!!
