Since my family has been in the beauty supply business for over 42 years in Saint Louis, Missouri, with Afro World Hair and Fashions, we know how hard it can be to find a good stylist. From the moment we got to the salon we knew we were in the right place.The salon was neat and easy to find and the soft pink-colored decor was as inviting as the warm smile of the stylist as she greated at the door. She took my mother in even though we didn't have an appointment and with her annoited hands created a style my mother simply adored. My pastor, her daughter and my mother were the belles of the ball just in time for Sunday service. As soon as I met her I knew she was going to be the one who made my special day even more special! On the day of the wedding, she came to the hotel to do the wedding parties makeup. She works fast, but is very efficient and has a true art in makeup application. All of my bridesmaids, flower girl and mothers absolutely loved their makeup. And of course, my makeup was absolutely everything I wanted it to be and then some. She did all of our makeup (there were 7 girls, plus myself, making 8 total) in about 5 1/2 hours. After she completed all of the makeup, she hung around with us until we left for the church to ensure that everyone was completely satisfied with their makeup and to do any last minute touch-ups. By the end of the night, everyone's faces still looked flawless (and trust me...there were a lot of tears and sweating between the ceremony and reception!)....as well as mine the morning after as my husband and I traveled to Hawaii for our honeymoon! Even for such an occasion as a wedding or a fancy gala, I still prefer to look like I am not wearing any makeup. Joy has done extremely well with my demands. She has added lashes to my freakishly unevenly distributed eyelashes, created eyebrows where I have none but should, and chose peach lip shade for me which I NEVER would have chosen for myself but now believe is my correct color. I am grateful for her asthetic sensibilities and ability to make me feel pretty without using a heavy hand.
