I'm glad my family and I decided to stop by after craving fresh Hawaiian-style poke. Domoishi has a little bit of everything: poke bowls, ramen, wings, and even boba. This spot had everything we were craving in one place. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and ordered the Hawaiian BBQ short ribs, a Hawaiian BBQ short ribs and chicken combo, and a poke bowl with two proteins (double salmon). I honestly wasn't expecting much since my family can be pretty picky when trying new places, but we were pleasantly surprised. The short ribs were our favorite. They were flavorful, came in generous portions, and there was plenty of meat. The rice paired perfectly with the BBQ flavors and made the meal feel very satisfying. The poke bowl was also a highlight. The salmon was fresh, buttery, and the toppings tasted crisp and refreshing rather than stale. Although we ordered through their self-service kiosk, the staff was very friendly, welcoming and efficient throughout our visit. The space is small with limited seating, but parking is ample. I've been to Domoishi probably around ten plus times, and it's been consistently great every time. The food always hits. The BBQ chicken is super flavorful, the katsu is crispy and cooked right, and the poke is fresh and easy to customize. The spam musubi is a must too, simple but really well done. And their boba drinks are always on point with adjustable sugar and ice levels that accommodate to your needs. What I also love coming back for is the service. Everyone there is genuinely kind and welcoming. You can tell they actually care about their customers, and it makes a big difference. Anytime anybody else or I had a request, they would always politely respond. This is one of those spots that's reliable all around and conveniently located next to Macdill AFB. Pro tip: if you want to try a little bit of everything, get the 3 musubi combo. You get katsu, regular, and Hawaiian BBQ chicken which is a perfect variety without committing to full plates. The macaroni salad was good, but I wish it had a bit more texture (maybe some celery for crunch?). It was also a little heavy on the mayo for my taste. Portions are HUGE. One entrée could easily feed two people. Each plate comes with two big scoops of rice, so come hungry or be ready for leftovers. Prices are very reasonable, especially for how much food you get. The staff were super friendly, and the decor is cute. Just a heads up, seating is limited inside (a couple tables for 4 and a couple for 2). I had totally forgotten that Domoishi was opening up a location in South Tampa. I was reminded of that fact after seeing it on the way to International Plaza from MacDill AFB. There was no way I'd pass up an opportunity to visit it. First impression is that there isn't a whole lot of seating. Don't let that keep you from trying it. A table will eventually become available whether it's inside or outside. There's an automated ordering system, or you can just place your order at the counter. The ladies taking the orders are very efficient & helpful. I wasn't sure about the heat level of the spicy honey soy garlic sauce. She offered to put it on the side for me without me even asking. The service is great! The plate of chicken, white rice, and macaroni salad was really good. The chicken was crispy & tasty. The spicy sauce was on the side along with yum yum sauce. Both sauces were delicious. I especially love their macaroni salad. It's so creamy. I could eat a whole side of it. The white rice was good as well. One of the scoops of rice had the grains smooshed together. The other was perfectly separated. There was a little inconsistency there, but it didn't take anything away from the taste of the rice. I was also happy with the lychee rose boba with rainbow jellies. I didn't give them a sweetness level. It ended up being just the right amount of sweet. The prices are very reasonable for the large portion sizes in both food & drink. I will definitely be back to try more items from the menu. Next time I'll try the Musubi and Loco Moco. Lol! Fun place for Hawaiian-ish comfort food. I was excited about the newest iteration of restaurant at this location. I love Hawaiian food, and I was thrilled at the idea of Hawaiian food in South Tampa. We were there during their soft open, and they offered up a 20% discount on our order, which was lovely. My family tried: the wings, the spicy honey soy chicken plate, the Hawaiian short ribs plate, and a bunch of boba drinks. The drinks came out quickly, and the food shortly thereafter. Portion size was very generous for both drinks and food. I thought everything was delicious, if light in the veggies (that's typical of the Hawaiian plate, I know). We especially loved the fried rice and macaroni salad.
