I came in with running boards for my new XT5 I got off of eBay that came with no instructions. They both were determined to make sure the job was done right. After contacting the seller and providing them with the instructions and a video they had the boards on in no time. With 2 small kids (one of them is a newborn) we really don't have time to shop around for a good mechanic. We came here because somebody recommended this place to my husband. We did not have any issues when we had the ac compressor replaced. Since we trusted this mechanic, we came back here again. I heard the noise coming from the wheels and Joe stated that it was brakes. As I said before, with 2 kids I don't have time to look for somebody else and since our car was already there and we trusted this place we agreed to have the brakes changed. Joe did call to give us his estimate (he did not give us the brakedown). During that hectic day and since I trusted him I did not question his estimate of $640. I assumed that our car needs additional work to be done besides brakes. My husband picked up the car, paid what was due and left. At home we looked at the invoice and were in shock. Joe charged us over $640 for the front rotor and both front and rear brakes plus work. I'm going to try to attach the invoice. According to his invoice he spent 2.5 hours to do it. Joe charged us $250 just for his work alone. C'mon, an experienced mechanic will not take that much time to change brakes, so I concluded that he is dishonest. Still having some faith in humanity and trustworthy mechanics I called him the next day and asked if he did anything else besides brakes. He confirmed that he did not do anything else but brakes. I askes him if it really took him 2.5 hours to change brakes and he said it did. He kept telling me that my husband OK'ed the estimate and that I should not be calling the next day to argue the price he charged. He reiterated that this is the Westbury price to change brakes. Yeah, is it right?!? Well long story short, Joe called my husband, called him names (great customer service!) and hung up on him. To be exact, Joe called my husband an asshole and a cheap f'ck. I saw all these great reviews about them and it makes me wonder what happened, but this is our experience with this Family business. read more

I came here based on the other reviews everyone seemed quite please. Joe and pat seemed very honest when answering my questions for my Hyundai. My check light engine came on and I was concerned , I was advised that a sensor light went on for transmission fluid and he right away turn off the check engine and if it comes back on again to bring it back so I can leave it for the day for further inspection I was out In 15 minutes. I didn't feel scammed by these two gentlemen . Both were very friendly. Hopefully my check engine light doesn't come on again but if it does I'll surely be coming here . And off course it came back on my transmission sensor was messed up and with the parts and labor it costed me 638 dollars ( eeehh ) I agreed to the work. Pat and joe are totally friendly and my light didn't come on yet I went to an auto repair shop yesterday and was told I need a new transmission part that would cost me 200-400 dollars and not for nothing that answer didn't sit right with me. read more

I recently purchased a 1963 Pontiac and needed to have the inspection done after getting plates on it. I live in Westbury and was hoping to find a local auto repair shop that was familiar with older cars. My friend and I drove over to this shop that we had passed on many occasions with both of us living in the neighborhood. We were greeted by the original owners grandson and then Pat who proceeded to help me out by taking the car in after lunch and not only doing the inspection but also answering various questions about the car taking a considerable amount of time out of his busy day. They work on all kinds of cars but it's good to know that if I needed some work done I could feel comfortable bringing the car there and having the job done correctly. It is always a scary experience when you are having your car worked on as the 2nd biggest purchase in your life you want to make sure it keeps on running for safety of your family and yourself. From the 1st phone call out to Dom's they were nothing short of courteous and genuine. I brought my car in the next day and they were able to get it back to me in same day. I brought it to them needing new brakes and that is what they were able to fix for me. I have gone to other shops or dealers and they are always quick to tell you everything else under the sun is wrong outside of the issue that you brought to their attention. Brought in my car for the annual inspection and got to watch how the older guy running the place worked while I waited. He seems like an experienced, friendly, honest person who is willing to take the time to do things right. He tries to explain in detail what and why the problems occur and his plan of action. Doesn't do high-pressure sales. The only downside is they don't have weekend hours, but otherwise I had no complaints. read more

Recently bought a 1972 Triumph Tr6 off of ebay and brought it to Dom's Auto Repair for a thorough going over and inspection. Needless to say they were thorough, they found a few "minor" things that needed repair, i thought i'd be in for a major bill! They dont do any unwarranted work, and on a 42 year old car there are a lot of shops that would tell me i need a lot of "major" work done! Pat and his son Joe (Dom was Pat's dad who started the business) are very knowledgeable and happy to educate me on my new classic. They even recommended another neighborhood auto repair shop who specializes in Triumphs to me if i wanted!!! I will STAY with Dom's tho because they know what theyre doing and have a full machine shop on the premises, which means they do it all. A good mechanic is hard to find... If you are reading this, you have just found one! If I could give these guys 10 stars I would... I was having problems with my Volvo s60 and knowing nothing about cars - somehow I sensed it was urgent (mostly from the sound of it). They did indeed find two problems with it that needed to be fixed right away. And they did just that... fixed it RIGHT AWAY. Within one day I had my car returned to me, their prices were REASONABLE, they did not try to push for or attempt any unnecessary repairs or up-charges. I cannot recommend this place higher. i have a BMW, and I was reluctant to go anywhere but a specialist. But on the advice from a good friend, I went to see Pat after my car died. Even though he was busy, and even though he was going out of town the next day, he took my car in, diagnosed the issue as an electrical issue within a couple of hours - a notoriously difficult problem to diagnose and fix in these cars. Joe was incredibly helpful as well - told me the part cost $1200 from the factory, but though he could obtain the part for a better price in the morning. The next day - he did! And my car was fixed and returned that day. Whatever brand of car, and whatever the problem - bring it to Pat first. Honest and overly fair in pricing. This is the place you want to go!! read more
