Formerly, they would change their menu every week or two. The current menu has not changed in a long time. It is, hmmm, less exciting. Perhaps less variety. In the past, they had several unique soups from the strawberry gazpacho to a potato leek soup. Now, they have had a Rahmen noodle one (think packed with MSG) I could buy at Aldi for under 1€, for weeks. The flank steak tapa portion is large, but unchewable. Their carved Iberico ham has LOTS of fat - more fat than meat. They now skimp on offering olives before dinner by offering a tiny cup of popcorn. We also noticed their prices have increased. This is one of the family run places in San Pedro where the only tables are outdoors on the street. The decor is very basic with plastic chairs etc but the food is amazing and the few covers are always booked, so it's advisable to reserve a table in advance. Also they don't open until 8.30pm, which is late even for Spain. We started with the hake croquettes and prawn pil-pil, both of which were very good. I then had the grilled sea bass which unfortunately was a bit salty but still excellently cooked. The other half had the grilled hake which came in small filleted pieces and pleased him no end! The children had grilled chicken and chips, which is their only option if they're fuss bags and don't want to have any fish. We had ice cream to finish; there is a very limited pudding menu. It was pretty much the only restaurant within reasonable walking distance to our villa on calle de Paseros but we avoided going there too often because it was very English in style (and staff) and we wanted to have as much tapas as possible. Most of the expat community go there very often. This is hardly surprising when you get there and taste the food. The decor is a bit unimaginative and sort of like a cheap English hotel.but if you can overlook that, then you'll be ok. The food is delicious and portions are HUGE! I think the steaks were 500g for example! Most dishes were pretty rich and in some cases a little over-salted, but of excellent quality nonetheless. I'd recommend having just two courses if you want to avoid being overly stuffed and sleepy afterwards. I had a chicken pesto linguine on the first lunch-time excursion. Amazingand enough to feed three people! The roasts on offer at the carvery looked incredible though. I also ate an incredible goats cheese salad as a starter when I returned for the evening meal. One of the nicest I've ever had. The main of chicken was equally great and came with a huge pile of roasted potato chunks. As an avid potato-lover, these were heavenly. The chocolate brownie (pictured) was impressive and, again, large, but not the best I've tasted. Just rich and cakey.
