Dinner at Don Cheech in Rosebank, reputed to have one of the best chicken parms in NYC. We started with their spicy fried calamari. I had the filet of sole Milanese with salad; my friend had the chicken parm (which was excellent) with cavatappi. It's a lovely dining room and the service is very attentive. I will definitively be back. It's a large menu and there's lots to try.

Went to this place for the second time last Friday we're friends. Did not disappoint. Nice menu good food good service very nice vibe. The Bronzino was one of the best I've had broiled with some pesto and brussels sprouts on the side. Everyone enjoyed their food.

Located in Rosebank in a beautiful decorated restaurant. When we walked in we were asked if we had a reservation on a Wednesday night in an empty restaurant. We said no , we were still seated , given the regular menu and a specials menu for the evening. As more patrons came in they were offered the pre fixed menu , which gave a full meal , appetizers, desserts included for one price. We were not offered that menu , which after we saw and heard others with that menu we decided to look to see if that menu was offered online to see what was on it. We saw the menu and realized we would have ordered from there verse the regular menu . Our take away was this was a deceiving restaurant and if you do go here make sure you ask If there are any other offers .

    Truffle pasta. AMAZING.

First off - I want to make it very well known, our waiter Adrien was absolutely amazing. That alone would make us return again and again. Outstanding isn't even enough of a word to describe him.. truly phenomenal, a gem of a person. Secondly, we have only been to Vinum for all of our special occasions the last few years. Since they closed, we celebrated this year at don cheech. The food, as expected, was beyond delicious & portions very generous. There is so much on the menu, I can't wait to come back and try more! Lastly, the ambience of the restaurant and the rest of the staff were bonus' to the already lux experience. Highly recommend, this is what dining should be!!!

This was my first visit to this restaurant... and it was a hit... the prefixed menu had lots of options and the price was right. The food is delicious and healthy portions .. this impressed me... I do love a healthy portion . The staff was polite and very attentive ... the ambiance was great and decorated beautifully for the holidays

9/27/23... As you know I get together quarterly with 2 childhood friends. One buddy has been talking about Don Cheech since our last S.I. visit. For drinks, a couple of espresso martinis was a nice way to get our evening started. Just one for me as it was potent.:) Appetizers- We shared two. That being buffalo mozzarella & Prosciutto plus calamari with cherry peppers. Nice kick on that one. Our entrees were Double cut pork chops, chicken Marsala and veal scaloppino sorrentino. My veal dish was excellent. Dinner portions are pretty large. Our server (Jose) answered all our questions about the menu, including our drinks. Dessert, 2 pistachio gelatos and a strawberry cheesecake which was very light. It's a newer place that has Chef Massimo running the show. Just a note, for dinner you will drop some serious coin. Looks like they have a pretty good outside patio and they offer a weekend brunch. Enjoy

Came here again for dinner and had a great experience! Their food was delicious and it was very nice that the chef came by to check on everyone! Our waiter was great too!

The food here is delicious. Ambiance is strange. Dead sound in dining area. No light music. Left to conversation only for entire experience My dining partner received a hair in her appetizer. It was in the sauce, not the food. Instead of apology, server made an excuse. Totally off base. Brought another full plate to table that wasn't asked for or warranted. Flatbread was very garlicky. Good but wouldn't order again. Carbonara had great flavors, but I believe it sat in window too long and sauce dried up. Poor timing of courses. Ossobuco is one of my favorites and this one delivered. So many restaurants on Staten Island. This one is good, but won't drive out of my way again for it.

For appetizers, we got zucchini chips, fried calamari and mussels. The calamari was fried too hard and it had a very salty, spicy Chilean type sauce over it. The zucchini chips were thinly sliced, lightly battered with Parmesan cheese sprinkled over them. They were decent but nothing to write home about. In fact, after having about six or seven of the zucchini chips I began to experience heartburn from the grease. For entrees, my husband had the chicken parm. He said it was too thick and should have been flattened more before frying. It was also very breaded. My brother-in-law ordered the chicken and waffles and he said the chicken tasted day old so after having a bite of one piece of the chicken he pushed the chicken aside and called it a day. I called the waiter over and informed him about the chicken tasting day old. He didn't try to change it out or take it off the bill or get a manager. He just apologized by saying I'm sorry. My crab Mac and Cheese was decent. It wasn't seasoned the way I would have liked but the huge, plentiful chunks of crab made up for that. I ate a third of my dish and packed the rest for home where I will doctor it up to my taste. I've never been to this particular restaurant before. The only reason we came today is because my brother-in-law was here on business and staying at a hotel in the area.

My husband enjoyed the crepes and the seafood linguine, and he was just as impressed. The kids' menu was a cute touch, especially with the clever dish names. When I asked my 10-year-old what she was having and she replied, "I don't care," I was caught off guard--until I looked at the menu and saw that "I Don't Care" was actually the name of the mac and cheese! So creative and fun. Drinks were great too--strong and satisfying for my husband, and I was happy to see a solid mocktail selection for non-drinkers like me. The only downside? There were only two dessert options available. I was hoping for a bit more variety, especially since everything else exceeded expectations. When they finally started using a reservation system, I was excited to finally secure one. I booked a reservation for 4 people, including one person who had been saying for years that she wanted to eat the cappuzelle with me. They also make you prepay on your card, which wound up being part of the problem. When we got there, we were seated for a while before anyone came over. We had already gone through the online menu and decided exactly what we wanted. When the waitress finally came over, she told us the burrata and the cappuzelle were sold out. That was incredibly disappointing, especially considering that was the dish I had wanted to try for years and one of the main reasons we came. She left so we could look over the menu again, and the two of us decided to order the branzino. Then we were told they only had one left. At that point it felt ridiculous. We were basically left with only a handful of pasta options and one chicken meal. I honestly do not understand how a restaurant knows exactly how many diners are coming that night, requires prepaid reservations, and is still running out of that much food by 7:00 pm. This was not the end of the night. It wasn't 10:00 pm. It was 7:00 pm. By then I was so frustrated that I told the waitress if I had not prepaid, I would have just left. We ordered the one branzino and made it very clear how disappointed we were. When it finally came, I was almost relieved they didn't have two, because it was impossible to eat. It was served whole, which I understand can have bones, but this was beyond that. It was so full of large and small bones that it was difficult to eat, and there was no effort made to debone it or even guide us through it. But the worst part was that nobody from management even attempted to smooth things over. No apology, no visit to the table, no effort to make it right. It felt like once they had our money, they did not care. I would love to say I loved the place and that I would fight for a reservation again, but I wouldn't. It is completely overhyped, and there are tons of Italian restaurants on Staten Island with better food, better service, and the basic ability to actually serve what is on their menu.

The sausage and pepper hero was also extremely delicious, where the sausage is not overly salty but still flavorful and paired perfectly with its tangy and savory sauce! We looked for a spot. it's extremely hard to find parking in this area.. there is a small lot but seems like it gets filled quickly. We didn't have reservations but it was rather early and didn't think it would be hard to get a table. We walked in and a cute older man was energetically running around waiting tables and making drinks. I think he was the owner. He was funny and super nice. He seated us. There was two super large parties in the restaurant. They were loud and tbh obnoxious! We looked at the menu and we settled on some light options. Fried calamari 19 , a salad( Pera ) Bibb lettuce with Gorgonzola, candied walnuts , poached pears in a balsamic glaze 18 we added salmon and a meatball pie 21. Tiramisu So let me break it down for you. We had hot bread with a beautifully seasoned tomato sauce. It was really amazing! It really set the tone for the meal. The fried calamari was really good. Crunchy, fresh and not dripping in oil. Lightly seasoned and the sauce was perfect with the calamari. The only thing the portion was small for the price! The pizza came out and again this pizza was like a personal pizza again the price is off . I wasn't impressed with the cheese they used. It didn't seem like fresh mozzarella. First impression there was way too much sauce the crust was like a wafer. Super thin! I wasn't impressed. I took a bite and the sauce tasted raw ! Like not cooked. Had an unpleasant taste. I actually got a little nauseated. Moving on we order the Pera salad and wanted to top it with salmon. We expected a full salad and salmon right on top. It might have been our fault for not asking the price for the salmon but that's what we wanted. Anyway our salad comes and literally it's a side salad with a 3 or 4 oz portion of salmon. Super small. We couldn't believe it. We were still hungry so we order a tiramisu. It was light, fresh and just a simple dessert. This place is by far not a date place. It's loud and somewhat chaotic. You def can tell the owner is busting his ass. It's really unfortunate The food is not consistent with taste, flavor and consistency . Which is a shame. The price point of the food is way too expensive for a place on Staten Island! Speaking of price we get the bill and the price for two side salads and a small piece of salmon each 80 F'ING DOLLARS!! The guy literally ripped us off ! We pay the bill as we both shake our heads and walk out and the owner goes " hey make sure you tell 5 friends to come visit" yea sure and get ripped I would have loved to say! Patrons be aware!

The eggs Benedict were also cooked perfectly runny and each brunch plate came with some fruits and a drink of your choice. Overall everything was fresh and even the fruit selections were sweet. Highly recommend for those who want a simple yet delicious brunch! Will definitely be back to try their regular menu! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:
