Once you get out of the lot, take the steps down the left and make a right to go straight around the corner to get on to Wilson. Don Daisy's is right beside a spa. Second service and location. The restaurant is cute. Few tables. The owner Daisy is lovely. So was everyone else. Service is top notch. Now to the food. I got one of each of the 3 top sandwiches. The prosciutto on all 3 was yummy. 1. The Don Daisy on sourdough. 2. The Sinatra in a ciabatta 3. The fogeta about it it in a ciabatta- I asked for it without jalapeños. This has some fig jam. I liked the complexity of the different flavors on this one. But I have to say the Don Daisy was my favorite. I preferred the ciabatta to the sourdough. The crushed chips is my favorite thing about these sandwiches. So something to note, it doesn't taste as good if you refrigerate it and eat it the next day because the lovely crunch that you get from the chips is gone. The sandwiches are hearty and very filling. A half sandwich filled me up. Great value for $16. The sandwiches are wrapped with a cute tag and a note which I thought was a lovely touch. I stumbled upon Don Daisy's and wow was I surprised! The sandwiches I got from them was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I got their "Figetta bout it" and "How you like them apples". Both were absolutely great however I will say Figetta bout it was so much more impactful and flavorful. I had the Figetta bout it first and then the How you like them apples after and it wasn't as flavorful as the first one. I think if I ate the apples one first and then Figetta, it would've given me the same or more than. I was looking for a place for lunch when I saw this on Yelp. The store itself is sort of hole in the wall, with only two tables to sit at inside. I honestly wasn't expecting much because I never really think to myself "I crave a sandwich". However I kept an open mind as the big sign that says "88 out of 100 sandwich shops in the nation on Yelp" told me I would leave satisfied. My expectations were soon absolutely exceeded within the first bite. The server recommended me his favorite sandwich which was a H.Y.L.T.A (How You Like Them Apples) and I got it without jalapeños (I can't do spicy). I was pleasantly surprised how much I'd love this sandwich I think the apples complement it very well. My mother a picky eater got the Don Daisy which seems to be a customer favorite and she also enjoyed her sandwich when normally she's a picky eater. I think an important note is the sandwiches are going to be pretty hefty and honestly if you don't have a big appetite maybe you should split a sandwich with a friend. My husband found this hidden gem on tiktok and he decided to bring us here today. Place is tiny but spotless! First of all the cashier was super friendly and helpful, answered our questions with a smile:) There are only two tables and we were lucky to get one. Probably the only $16 sandwich in LA that's worth more than $16. From the presentation alone you can tell this is a work of passion. A cute brown paper bag holds your intentionally double wrapped sandwich, with the napkins carefully folded on top. Other shops lazily wrap the thing up and toss a few napkins into a plastic bag, none of that here at Don Daisy's. The relationship between the bread's absorbency and the amount of sauce is perfect. If you were looking for more of a sauce punch. They give you a little ramekin of it for dipping so as to not ruin the consistency of the bread. Cucumber lovers rejoice! The Don Daisy came with both fresh cucumbers and pickles. Though to call them pickles is not fully accurate as they were not quite fully pickled, more so a lightly marinated cucumber that plays really really well with the fresh cucumber. Even if you're not a pickle fan, this is a cucumber combo you can get behind. Even the spot is adorable, cute little corner by the window to enjoy your food, but the takeout presentation means you're not missing out if you decide to take it to-go. Shop owner was absolutely the nicest, a big smile tells you she loves what she's doing in there. The crunchy chips, the wet sauce, the ratio of meat to cheese, the subtle differences of saltiness in the pickles vs the chips. Hole in the wall spot with great food. It's a little odd they have maybe 8 sandwiches, and like 5 of them have prosciutto de parma on them. I got the How You Like Them Apples, and it's stellar. And, it's HUGE! For anyone that complains about the $16 price tag, most couples can share it. A rag-tag, limited selection of drinks (annoying) are offered, as are chips. I absolutely love Don Daisy's. I would say I eat here 2-3x a week. HYLTA is my favorite and the veggie is my alternative order. I don't eat prosciutto but am happy with the two non pork options. Excited to see what other offerings they add to the menu over time. Fun fact, I introduced this to my colleagues and they loved it so much now they all refer to it as "crack sandwich." Think about your college days - the good-looking girl who has a genuinely great personality, everyone's talking about her, but you never had seen her. That was Don Daisy's for me - an enigma. The sandwich shop everyone has been raving about, but seemed impossible to try because we would never make it in time for their popular Instagram drops. Finally, a brick-and-mortar store I can visit any time. Now I get the well-deserved hype - from service to last bite, my friends are constantly looking for any excuse so we can have a cheat day and have Don Daisys again. I expected a line, but it went through pretty quickly; I was surprised because the guy at the register (I think owner or co-owner?) didn't rush anyone ordering, he asked questions, and I noticed he was thanking everyone for stopping by - even the asking what people leaving thought of the sandwiches. Big brownie points on my end when the owner is face-to-face with customers, and asks for feedback. We did take-out, and I heard they do online pick-up orders now too, but the inside of the shop has a nice deli-vibe so I think if there's room, it's worth sitting inside. I saw a few people at Americana after eating sandwiches on the grass, so maybe that's a new trend too? The sandwiches were great - we tried both ciabatta and sourdough, and while the ciabatta was good - I just love sourdough too much to not exclusively get that. Went to Don Daisy's today with my dad and aunt, and it was such a great experience. My aunt got the Sandwich Sinatra, I could tell she loved it from the first bite. My dad and I shared the How You Like Them Apples. Since I can be a little picky sometimes, he didn't add apples (even though I actually love apples!), and he forgot to take the jalapeños out to but honestly, it was still delicious. Had the Figetta About It on ciabatta there last week. Id say its as good as the Sinatra, but has a slightly different flavor profile. The feta adds a funky cheesiness, with the sweet fig, and punchy jalapeno, and the creamy aoli really work well together. I actually think the Jalapeno in this sandwich is a bit more noticeable, and it lingers a bit more than the Sinatra. It may be since that sandwich has a more savory-acidic profile than this one. Id add this sandwich to the ones to recommend there to try first. read more
