Shrimp diabla
Krystine R.

I have been coming for years and I'm always satisfied with my food, drinks, and the vibe of the restaurant. Great location toward the lower end of Federal hill. Service is efficient and my order is always correct. Lots of great dishes that come out hot and well put together. I like their margaritas a lot, and I usually have to order several to contend with the SUPER hot camarones diabla, which I really enjoy. I find a lot of restaurants skimp on the heat and I like a challenge!

Molcajete Azteca

Authentic Mexican in Providence! Located on Atwells Avenue (Federal Hill) This family owned restaurant is renowned in Rhode Island for having the best margaritas, as the name suggests, they have a wide array of tequilas. We really enjoyed the Marchelita (giant margarita) which was so smooth and fruity, it doesn't even need any flavoring (but flavors are available). We also enjoyed the table side guacamole- made to order so you can get it exactly the way you like. And our server suggested we try the Molcajete Azteca which was so fun and tasty! A mix of meat, vegetables, shrimp and fried cheese, served in sauce (mild, medium, or spicy) and a side of tortillas which feels like an elevated fajita- highly recommend!

Margs at the bar!

The food here is always so yummy! They make the guacamole right in front of you with all the ingredients you list. The staff here is always really nice, This is a really nice place for girls night out especially in the summertime. It is dimly lit and cute for a date, but always really crammed later at night so if you're looking for something quiet and intimate, I wouldn't really say this is the spot. Regardless, I definitely recommend trying this spot at least once! As always, don't forget to tip your servers, and bring cash to tip whoever makes your guac!

Tasty lobster dish

I was excited to go! My empanadas were bland and not very crisp. My entree (Molcajete Azteca) was bland you would think as a $50 entree it would be seasoned or something but imagine fajita without sauce or seasoning- just fired, my friend's chimichanga burrito was only okay. I would have started to think I had a cold and couldn't taste anything but another friend had the lobster dish and that had pleasant seasoning and spice to it. But the food was quite a letdown after reading reviews. The best damn mango margarita I ever had though, I would return for drinks as long as we eat beforehand. The service was excellent which saved a star.

Hadn't been to Don Jose's in many years and glad to see it's still as good as ever. Wasn't very busy, thankfully we got a table quickly though they dont take reservations for groups under 6. Only issue was a long wait until our server came by; we had been waiting for 1 person in our party so maybe that is why but the waitress should of come by to ask our drink order while we waited. Went for a birthday celebration with friends and we had a great time. Food was good and drinks were great! We started with guacamole and chips; it was made table side and very tasty. We had a few frozen margaritas which we loved. The food was good but some were too spicy; make sure to ask about spice levels!

After dodging the spill out crowd at Mona Lisa's, I whipped the hoopty Tokyo drift style into the Don Jose's Tequilas parking lot. Dope move. "Hola, amigo," my main man at the host station said as I strolled in. "Hola, muy bueno amigo, dos por favor." "Foo, you know you don't speak Spanish dude, just follow me!" he said as I duked him some grat and we both chuckled. "Foo, your favorite table, Senor Foo!" As usual the table side guacamole was the bomb, street tacos were superb and they give you just the right amount of rice and beans. "Senor Foo, how is the food?" "I love the food here and the atmosphere. It's quiet and calm. The drinks are potent and the chips are delish." "Senor Foo, you love our house hot sauce, the hottest!" "Ah yes, Foo loves the hottest sauce, I want to buy it to go, muy clientele!" "Si, muy caliente, not clientele!" "Si, Foo don't know!"

First off the queso comes out and is literally just melted cheese. Completely uneatable couldn't even pull it apart with chips. Then they charged $2.50 for a small side of sour cream, the fajitas don't come with cheese which is wild and they charged us $2 for the smallest side of it. Then on top of that I brought a cake for my friend and they charged us THIRTEEN DOLLARS because I brought my own cake. Didn't even tell me that when I brought it in just threw it on the bill. The price gouging is outrageous. We won't be back.

If you want to enjoy good food and great drinks this is the place to go! Their frozen margaritas are awesome & BIG. I love that they make the fresh guacamole right in front of you at the table. I had the steak it was cooked perfect and yummy! My only complaint would be the servers take a long time to come back to your table to check on you but they do have bussers that will come and clean the table in between appetizers and meals. Wow. This is probably my favorite taqueria on the planet. Attentive staff, laid back atmosphere for the diners, wonderful cocktails, and the food is to die for. Get the picante margarita and the molcajete. OMG it's worth it.

Food was so overpriced and tasteless. Packaged all wrong. Most of the order was held together by stale cheese.

I was lucky to have tried North when it was open so when I saw the former chefs were preparing the meal for Chef Night, I knew I had to sign up and was so glad I did. The meal was stupendous! The first course was shrimp and corn fritters. The fritters were filled with shrimp and corn and you can visually see the shrimp and corn. It wasn't overly doughy and the sauce was delicious! Chef Andrew described the dish and he told us that the shrimp was locally sourced from Dune Brothers. The second course was noodles with tomato and pepper dashi and grilled fish. The noodles were fresh, but it started to get a little clumpy. The dashi was really flavorful. The third course was miso tres leches cake with sakura whipped cream. This course I was the most excited about and it totally blew my expectations. Chef Andrew told us that they hand picked sakura petals and made their own whipped cream. The tres leches cake was moist, dense, and airy. The dessert was definitely the star of the show. Bravo to chefs Andrew McQuesten and Stephen Sternkopf for a wonderful locally sourced meal. Jean-Marc and the other bartender were also very friendly and accommodating. They checked on all the customers throughout the night and made yummy drinks. I had the Toasted Venture. This is one of the signature cocktails and has Toasted Pumpkin Seed-Infused Misguided Spirits Red Sky Silver Rum/Cynar/St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur/Rosemary Elixir/Mole Bitters. It was very good. A time at Clementine's is always wonderful.

It's best for small groups (no more than 4-5). I love the customer service here: our server explained the alcohol as we got each of our cocktails. I will admit, though, because I'm slightly hard of hearing, I missed a lot of the explanations, but that's ok. I came in a group of four and we all took sips of each other's drinks and that was really fun! Every drink was great, but I do favor my sake drink, white port/cream soda cocktail, the vermouth, and the one with the amaretto. Don't expect the menus to be the same as in this review! They do change it frequently and have non-alcoholic mocktails, too. We heard about this place from coworkers and that they had won an award for best new bar--an award that's well-deserved.

From our arrival, the hospitality was top tier. Warm, welcoming, unrushed. The space itself is cozy and intimate, with this beautifully curated burnt-orange vibe that feels a like a 1930s-40s Cuban lounge. Even the staff subtly matched the aesthetic and color scheme. You can tell a ton of thought went into every detail of this place. Every cocktail we tried was creative, balanced, and thoughtfully composed. Presentation was beautiful without being gimmicky. One of the hosts/servers took the time to explain each drink. We also tried the flan. It was silky, perfectly set, just sweet enough: 10/10. Once there, we learned that Loma's Latino-owned, and that heritage is subtly celebrated throughout--from their curated Salsa playlist on the high def sound system to their inclusion of Latin American flavors and ingredients in their menu. Oh and one of the details we loved most: there's no big wall of liquor bottles on display like you see in most places. They keep only a few featured spirits visible and tuck everything else away, which gives the whole space a more intimate, upscale, almost homey feel. In short: impeccable vibes, genuinely warm hospitality, gorgeous space, incredible drinks, and thoughtful details everywhere. Loma is exactly the kind of bar you hope to stumble upon when traveling--and the kind that makes you wish you lived closer. A must-visit. We'd come back in a heartbeat.

A lovely woman in the restroom overheard my friend and I unsure on where to venture, and she suggested this place! Moody and welcoming. Absolutely loved it. We went in ~10:45 on a Wednesday pm. Apparently they do live jazz weekly as well, but we'd come too late. A handful of bar patrons, a couple making out in the back of the dining room at their cute table, a lovely bartender, me& my bff. We really hit the jackpot for ambiance last night. Decor in there is so cute. I wish I took a picture of the table lamp on the bar. It was embellished with beads hanging on the rim of the shade. Our drinks were top notch. Mine was a citrus vanilla profile and hers was a savory martini. The sandwich, I had one bite of it was yummy. I don't like imitation lunch meats though.
