    Burrata w/ grilled vegetables
    Julia C.

Good food, remarkably slow service. Plan for a three hour dinner. For appetizers, we shared the Bruschettina (each order comes with 4) and the burrata w/ grilled vegetables, which were both delicious. These are also pretty much the only vegetarian appetizer options. For the main, I had the pappardelle with mushrooms and ham, which was also delicious. The pizzas looked good too! Particularly the margherita and the four cheese (quatro formaggio) Would definitely come back here again.

    Orecchiette pasta with seafood

Came here for an early lunch with a coworker today. When we sat down outside, the server asked if we had a reservation, even though there was hardly anyone there. That didn't make any sense to me until I realized that the place got packed about 30 minutes later. Was pleasantly surprised by my orecchiette seafood pasta, which had GIANT, succulent shrimps. :D The orecchiette was a bit hard and chewy, slightly reminiscent of Chinese sticky rice cakes. I guess that's what they call al dente. The decor outside seemed fairly new, and the food seemed pretty authentic. If I come back here again, I might try a pizza next time, as a lot of people were ordering it, and it looked rather tasty.

    Spinach salad, bacon and eggs

The food has never disappointed. This location is always a little friendlier and more organized than the Stauffacher one. Although this time, we weren't greeted by anyone upon arrival and kitchen staff ignored us so I sat myself, then had to be moved. Service aside, Don Leone, along with its sister restaurant La Baracca is still the best Italian in Zurich. The bread is served prior to the apps and mains. I always request olive oil for the bread. Their OO is always tops - fruity and robust. Today we had a spinach salad with diced hard egg and warm bacon with a great Italian vinaigrette. Then we had a seafood carbonara concoction made with unique long twisty pasta noodles. The cream sauce was good but the eggs weren't properly tempered so there was a bit of scramblage going on. No holding back on the fruit of the sea! a half dozen large lip mussels, about dozen meaty clams, bland steamed calamari and 2 delicious jumbo prawns. A huge portion, enough for two to split. Their pizzas have remained large and in charge as I noticed today - whereas La Baracca's have reduced in size and brawn. I love Don Leone for their creative menu. Everywhere else is so predictable.

Amore Mio (Le Pizza Gustose)- tomato, mozzarella, beef carpaccio, Parmesan chips, porcini mushrooms, black truffle. 29.50Fr

Had the Amore Mio (29.50fr) Pizza, and it was GUT. I added fresh basil and the house chili peppers (which are fresh, not dried, and was also gut!). The size of the pizza was big, and generous with the topping. The price is Swiss price, so glad that it was good. Friend had a pasta and it sounds like they house make the pasta. I'll try that next. Would recommend this place for a solid pizza or pasta. I would of given 5 stars, BUT, they charge for tap water. I think that's lame.

We were staying in the Sihlcity area of Zurich at the 4-Points Sheraton (which by the way was far better than anticipated). We asked our hotel for restaurant recommendations and then checked those recommendations vs. Yelp. We selected Don Leon which is approximately a 10 minute walk from the Sihlcity tram stop. The restaurant has a large outside patio, which could not be used the evening we visited because of an unexpected rainstorm. Since we were a bit early we had our choice of tables. The hostess quickly took our order for drinks, appetizers and our main courses. The drinks and bruschetta came very quickly. It was a good start as the bruschetta was very tasty. Our main courses took a while to be delivered, but we were not in any rush. We both had pasta dishes that had very generous portions and were wonderfully prepared. We finished the meal with the lemon sherbet. Don Leon is a bit outside the city center and thereby you don't see a lot of tourists. It is worth the short tram ride (#13 or #17), if you would like to enjoy an excellent dinner.

Another fabulous experience at this restaurant. Everything was pitch perfect tonight. The appetizer and entree were excellent! The drinks were ice cold. The server was fast and friendly. Fell in love with this restaurant all over again. Since we're moving to this neighborhood soon, this will be our GO TO place to dine!

When we arrived, they surprised us with the cutest little cozy nook at the front of the restaurant. We had a great view of the scenery outside and could watch people walk by, which made the whole experience feel really special. We were greeted right away and had our drink orders taken. There was a small mix-up where my boyfriend ordered one espresso martini and two came out, but it honestly wasn't a big deal at all. We started with the beef carpaccio, which was absolutely delicious. For our main dishes, my boyfriend ordered the truffle pasta and I ordered the bolognese. Everything was amazing. The bolognese was rich and comforting, and you could really taste how fresh the tomatoes and sauce were. But the truffle pasta was hands down the star of the night. It was SO good that I immediately wished I had ordered it myself. Perfect flavor, great portion, just overall incredible. The staff also checked in on us throughout the meal and made sure we were enjoying everything. We ate so much that we didn't even have room for dessert, even though the menu had some tempting options. This is honestly some of the best pasta I've ever had. If they had a location near me at home, I would be there all the time without question. Highly recommend.

They had one table for two and they graciously seated us. We ordered the Risotto alla Cicoria con Gamberoni and the Scaloppine di Vitello al Limone con Tagliatelle. The risotto was as good as previous times we have ordered it. Only difference this visit is that we opted for the full course and glad we did. Of course I couldn't come here without ordering the rosemary oven roasted potatoes which were kindly substituted for the tagliatelle. Rosemary potatoes are excellent in that lemon sauce. Nothing was left. Both members of the Clean Plate Club. Not hard to do wwhen the food is so very good. Service was excellent. Never rushed and the restaurant was totaly full during our visit. We learned that reservations for lunch are almost essential. Love they hustle and bustle of the place. Can't wait to return in September...Maybe Antonio will be working.

We wandered over and saw plenty of open tables, however most were reserved. Initally they said we would have a 2 hour wait (no thanks) but another lady said we could be seated now but only had 2 hours. Being American, that's plenty of time for dinner. Servers were very nice and we were not rushed. The soup, zuppa di pomodoro was delicious. I had the vitello scaloppine al limon which finely sliced and the tenderest veal I ever had. Wife had the linguine all venez which she loved. A great dining experience, especially since we had no reservations. Would definitely come back and next time make reservations. btw - we finished in a little over an hour ;-).
