My wife heard great things about Don Melt so she stopped to grab some ice cream to give it a shot. First off, it's located at the end of the mall under the stairs so it took us a while to locate it. Once we arrived, there was plenty of chairs and seating and the place looked pretty cool. They also had a pretty extensive menu which consisted of coffee, tea, lattes, Korean drinks, smoothies, sparkling aids and of course, ice cream. I don't like ice cream but I was actually pretty excited for her to try it. Cool name, cool spot, I'm willing to bet something on it, it's about to be fire! After waiting a while I noticed she was still at the front, I wasn't sure if she was looking at the menu or what. So I go to the front and no one is in sight, I see the bell and I ring it and a young girl comes to help. Make sure you ring the bell smh. Finally after the long wait, and a small line formed behind us, she finally gets her ice cream on a cone. I see her walking towards me happy and then she takes a bite and everything goes out the window. She hated everything about the ice cream. It wasn't what she thought, she didn't like the texture, the flavor or anything about it. She had me taste it and she was right, it tasted like ice without the cream and kind of bland. It is exactly what it is marketed as, low fat, low calorie, low sugar, and low carbs so I have no clue what she thought she was getting. It clearly said, plant based lol. I told her and she said she at least wanted it to taste creamy and she was right, it was far from creamy but Don Melt didn't do anything wrong lol. Anyway, she didn't want to be mean so she held on to it until we got a few stores down and tossed it. Then we went on a hunt to find her ice cream smh. Now, from my experience, it wasn't bad and I understand what they are doing. It's a healthy ice cream that isn't creamy and it's not something I would eat but I get the concept. It's for healthy eaters wanting to fill a craving, which isn't for everyone and I think she was being a little emotional about wanting her ice cream. We wandered here after a heart meal, and decided to get sweet treat! Ended up ordering the Mugwort latte and the Corn latte. How unique!!! The corn latte was exactly what I thought it would be. But not in a bad way! I love a sweet corn drink! Super milky and fragrant! The mugwort one was interesting, I don't think I liked the aftertaste as much, but that's on me hahaha. The decor on the other hand was quite nice. I got the strawberry soft serve and it was a bit disappointing. The soft serve reminded me of the Nesquik strawberry milk, but as an ice cream. It wasn't necessarily bad, but it just didn't taste quite right. The flavor was a bit off putting. Don melt might be the hidden gem of the source in Buena Park! It's Very lowkey being placed at the back of the plaza. My kids love this area because they play music, and have lots of space to run around. They also have lots of chairs to work or hang out! Their matcha cloud latte is really good, it has a sweet foam topping that pairs well with the matcha. They also have croissant waffles in a bunch of different flavors! Honestly, I could have inhaled three of these...EASILY. Like where has this been my whole life? The slight sweetness of the croffle and the savory corn and cheese just hit right. I know the website and reviews say vegan but my son had the strawberry and ended up having a pretty severe reaction (vomiting, swollen lips, stridor) outside of the store. First the texture was grainy/powdery like when you mix powder with cold water and it doesn't dissolve all the way. At first I thought Then the flavor itself was weird. It's a cute, tall, eye catching ice cream on a cone that they advise NOT to tip or lean over. The smart man move is to get the cone and ask for a cup on the side to tip it over into when you're done with the pictures so it doesn't spill over or melt everywhere. We got the swirl of vanilla and strawberry and it was immensely sweet. The vanilla being sweeter than the strawberry. It might be because it's entirely plant based but the soft serve tastes like an electrolyte drink mixed with children's Flintstones' vitamins ground up inside it. It's an outdoor stand that sell drinks and desserts. I decided to try their mini croffles set which comes with 4 and whatever flavors your stomach desires. I got tiramisu, matcha, blueberry and banana nutella. I decided to get an iced americano to drink and my friend got their fresh watermelon slush. There's a seating area for their customers so that's good. After a lil bit they called my number so I went to pick up my order at the window. Ooh those croffles absolutely looked so cute and delicious. If you don't know what a croffle is it's a croissant that's cooked in a waffle maker hench the name croffle. My friend and I dug in immediately and what a treat. All of these croffles have the same cream but different additions to change the flavors. I absolutely loved the tiramisu and banana nutella ones. The blueberry was ok but the matcha I really couldn't taste it. The americano was a perfect drink to go with this. My friend really enjoyed the freshness of her watermelon slush. Since my friend is now vegan, thought it would be a great idea to try this vegan soft serve dessert stand after eating at the food court. I always get lost at the source, so took us awhile to get here. The dessert stand in on the 2nd floor towards the back of the floor. We both ordered the strawberry swirl on a cone. The soft serve is extremely soft, so they put a note on the window letting customers know they should not tilt the soft serve...which makes me think they experienced a handful of soft serves accidentally dropping to the ground. The soft serve was not as sweet as I had hoped, but for a planet-based ice cream I would say it's worth a try. I also wished the soft serve wasn't so soft as it started to drip quickly. The one odd thing, unrelated to the store was that there was a group of people which young children smoking right at the stand.
