nice little shop in grand rapids full of all manner of trinkets and accessories large and small. a…read morewide array of vintage household goods, unique decorations, and high-end-kitsch. the owner is a pleasant lady and will actually provide helpful help while you wander about her shoppe. will try to get back here before weather happens this fall but certainly with the greening of spring. was in the area looking for a small piece of jewelry popping in on the many antique / vintage / collectibles vendors without much success. came across this shoppe as the proprietress (a charming lady) was moving items about and was greeted kindly as she set up table and chairs on the sidewalk. when she came back in April introduced herself as the owner and asked if there was anything in particular she could help me find. we made some small talk then went to the jewelry case to have a look at a tiger's eye intaglio: centurion (?) and lady in profile on a heavy silver ring. large square stone looked good on my hand and was almost a perfect fit as a pinky ring. I thought the price fair and my cousins approved when I showed it off later over lunch.

I found Susan Sterling estate sales when needing to clear out a family home we were readying for…read moresale. I was looking for a company that was reliable, great communication, trustworthy and that would coordinate the final clean out once the sale was over at a low fixed cost(for clean out). I didn't want a referral who to use to clear out the home but wanted full coordination through the estate sale team. Susan called me back on a Sunday within five minutes of the email inquiry I sent. She didn't tell me what to expect from the sale(dollar wise) as it is unpredictable. We set an appointment for her to visit the house and she was on-time and from that point on the professionalism was stellar. I did call another competitor that was very well referred that never returned calls and I persisted with four different calls to both owners phones. At the very least you expect someone to call back and say they are not interested but with Sterling every communication was instantaneous. Sterling Estate sales completed the estate sale, advertising it, making sure people wore shoe covers to protect the carpets, coordinated the clean out and was on-site when the haul away arrived. I am only writing the review because it helped us out tremendously in so many ways and I wanted to take the time so that another person not knowing where to turn knows who to call. Sterling Estate sales has been around forever and also had many good google reviews. The sale is over and my check and logging of the items sold came right away, and again it couldn't have gone any better. It's hard letting someone you don't know have full access to your home as they prepare for an estate sale. That is another reason I took the time to write a review on Yelp where I tend to look for referrals if I don't know where to turn. Hope this helps someone else deciding who to use for an estate sale. I also liked she is affiliated with a Haul Away company that she is comfortable with and that was a nice flat fee at the end so I knew the price up front and that she used a company that takes care of the home when doing the final clear out. This family owned business is relatively new…read more(only 5 mos!) and they sell deeply discounted furniture and home good items like washers/dryers, outdoor furniture, high end rugs, interior, exterior furniture and more! I walked out with over $1500 worth of items for $480 after tax! Their hours are by appointment only but it's well worth it! When I walked into McGivern, I was immediately greeted and treated so kindly. Staff went the extra mile to help me and explain the timing, cost and options. My resizing and appraisals were completed in about 7 days which I thought was remarkable. My next trip in, I decided to resize a bracelet and reset a ring. Mike personally helped me and was incredibly helpful. Once my jewelry updates were complete- within the stated timeframe, by the way- I picked them up and I was absolutely floored at how beautifully they turned out.
