We were passing through Düsseldorf for half a day and saw they're known for their Japanese food, so we decided to check out Takumi! They have both indoor and outdoor seating available. AJITAMA TONKOTSU RAMEN: I'm a tonkotsu person and almost always order this over other types of ramen. Not sure if I was just so severely deprived of Asian food, but I felt Takumi's tonkotsu ramen ranked pretty high on my list! And coming from SoCal as well as having lived down the street from both major Japanese food hubs in Los Angeles, that's saying a lot! Good amount of pork, the noodles were cooked to the perfect texture, and the broth was rich without being overly salty. I don't usually enjoy other types of ramen so I can't speak for those items from their menu. But I slurped my entire bowl of tonkotsu ramen dry! KARAAGE: Large pieces with crispy exterior and super juicy interiors! I wasn't expecting much but in the end I was super happy we ordered this. Overall, amazing tonkotsu ramen located in Düsseldorf's Little Tokyo.

Da hat takumi deutlich bessere. Das einzige was gut war waren die takoyaki. This place specializes in onomiyaki (Japanese pancakes) and some soba dishes. I came by for lunch…read moreand was surprised to find that the atmosphere was pretty bustling. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside is decorated with old Japanese newspapers on the walls, dark wood tables, lanterns, etc. To the food. The onomiyaki did not appeal to me because they're kinda covered in mayo, which is a deal breaker for me. I was also somewhat shocked at the prices - 16.50 EUR for a fried pancake seems like too much! I went with yaki soba noodles with pork for a more reasonable 10 EUR. I wish I liked the noodles more, but they were just alright. After I ate most of them, I could see pools of oil left over. I have a pretty high tolerance for oiliness (vs. my zero tolerance mayo policy!), but even this was pushing it. Plus, for a couple Euros more, you could go to Soba An across the street & eat perfect handmade soba. Even though the food was only OK, other factors added to the experience. The service was speedy & they brought an individual carafe of iced tap water (!!), miso soup, side salad, green tea and seasonings. Also, the presentation was thoughtful and I appreciated the little design details. If I could give it 3.5 stars I would, but instead I'll round up. In the end, I'd come back because it's a cool place and a nice addition to Dusseldorf's Japanese district.
