Amazing donuts! Blows me away to know these are vegan! I come here often, exciting to see what new flavor they have released. Always on point no matter the donut, of course some have a preferred place in my heart (Cinnamon sugar and plain!). These donuts with please the entire family, hands down! Hands down our new favorite vegan donuts. We've driven by this place many times and been seeing them on IG. But we finally made the effort. Wow! Very good vegan donuts! My boyfriend brought back a surprise box of donuts for my early birthday. I was already in love with the one in SF, but I only tried 3 flavors from there. The ones he brought were all new flavors and one of my favorites from the SF visit. It was very hard to resist eating the entire box in one sitting. -Vanilla Glaze - Not bad, I would get again. -Blueberry - Still my favorite. -Cinnamon Sugar - Good but I personally don't care for the sugar (too messy). -Philz Coffee - Couldn't really taste coffee flavor, more sweet like a glazed. -Chocolate Cookie - Not bad, couldn't taste too much chocolate though. -Lemon Poppyseed - Light on the sweetness and subtle hint of lemon. Interesting that I see this place serves food too and from the pictures, it looks good. I'll have to go try it out in person one of these days. But for now, their donuts already have my heart. read more

Got the chocolate, blueberry and lemon donuts. They were crunchy and well made. Everything was vegan which was awesome, great selection. However the blueberry had no flavor (except the sugar) and lemon was ok. Chocolate was good. I don't think it was worth paying nearly $10 for 3 donuts tbh. Worth the visit but won't be going again. read more

Run don't walk. That's it. That's the review. The weekend brunch burrito is my hangover dream. The raised donuts (specifically the lemon tangy less sweet flavors) got an ovation from a non-vegan group of eaters. If only the ferry building had the savory menu as well as the donuts, or the raised donuts were weekdays as well. But maybe the exclusiveness is what helps make me crave them more? read more

YUMMY donuts! And dare I say, better than regular donuts?! I came here on a Friday morning to get a dozen donuts for my colleague's birthday. I got a random assortment of donuts: blueberry, matcha, lavender earl grey, vanilla cookie, vanilla sprinkle, Philz Coffee- a dozen for $30. All the the donuts were delicious! You'd never guess that they are vegan! Super delicious and a perfect sweet treat! Highly recommend! read more

Gee, I thought they just sold vegan doughnuts at the Ferry Building, so imagine how gobsmacked I was to find this hipster greasy spoon on San Pablo. Sure, they have those no-hole, cakey doughnuts I know a little too well from their urban kiosk (photo: http://bit.ly/2JgwNA8), but they also offer a pretty extensive brunch menu with specialties like Pesto Scramble and get this, Donuts & Gravy if Biscuits & Gravy are not indulgent enough for you. I knew to steer clear of that and went with the $12.95 gluten-free Garlic Greens Platter which was cooked quite liberally in olive oil. It came with a side of sliced avocado and sourdough toast (photo: http://bit.ly/2JircJE). Now I could have had a biscuit instead of toast, and they even offer a mac n' cheese option. But as we all know, "Discretion is the better part of Valor." I've al as wanted to write that. Anyhoo, I had to save room for my inevitable doughnut, right? Came here for International Donut Day. Glad it fell on a Friday because only on the weekends do they have yeast raised and those are my favorite! I got the plain glazed and got my husband the Blueberry Donut. His was cake style, but nice and crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, kind of reminded me of a funnel cake actually. Good neighborhood donut spot for sure. read more

It's hard to find good vegan food. We had three orders of their hot chicken. The outside of the crispy fried tofickin gave it that first hard crunch. Hidden where clumps of sweet, salty and peppery flavors of spices inbetween the ridges of the breaded layer, which had been dowsed in hot sauce. You feel the heat of the hot sauce directly after the spices. It's the kind of heat that hits you in the beginning. For me, an avid spicy food hunter, it wasn't bad and enhanced the other flavors. My woman had to take breaks in between bites. The inside portion after the crunch was firm and porous with savory flavors that seep out with every bite as you chew through. I was left with the after taste of all the flavors and a slight burn that made them pop out more the longer I let it sit. Will be coming back. read more

I was immediately greeted on a weekend morning, which surprisingly wasn't as busy as I expected. The staff were friendly and patient with all my questions. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes with a few people being in front of me. Donuts: All donuts were fluffy and well made. They also lasted more than a day out in the counter, so that was a major plus. Lavender earl grey: This was my favorite! I didn't get too much tea flavor, but I didn't mind because the lavender shined and I thoroughly enjoyed this flavor. Philz coffee: There is a subtle coffee flavor to this, so if you have a sensitive taste bud to coffee you may like this one. I personally wished there was more coffee flavor. Matcha green tea: I loved how much I could taste the matcha in this one! It was the perfect balance and totally would get this every single time. Salted caramel: perfect balance of sweet and salty ;) no issues with this one! Pumpkin: All I can say is this one made me feel like I needed to be eating this with a nice hot cup of coffee in front of a fire. Try it if they happen to have it! Blueberry: This was the most "tart" out of all the flavors I got, but it wasn't sour at all, so it's pretty much indescribable. It just hit a little different and I guess you'll need to try it! Try it out when you can people, you won't regret it. Also when you do..get more than 1, you're more likely to leave happier :) read more

I tried a dozen vegan doughnuts this morning and they were good. They had a nice variety of doughnuts available. I tried the lavender earl grey, orange creamsicle, matcha green tea, glazed vanilla sprinkle, plain cake, lemon poppy, vanilla cookie, maple and lemon Meyer. Our favorites were the lemon Meyer & plain cake. I really liked the lavender earl grey, I thought the frosting was so good but almost too sweet. Like I could only eat half. The plain cake is soooo good, nice and crunchy. It cost $29 for a dozen, I thought good price for vegan doughnuts and I appreciate the variety of flavors. The woman who helped me, was nice. I'd definitely try this place again. I was told they have food on the weekends, not just doughnuts. read more

The lavender earl grey donut is the best donut I've ever had. The donuts here are pretty sweet, but the flavors are so good! Pumpkin donut was also great. Service here is really good too, the people working here are genuinely very friendly and kind. They also started serving brunch again which is super exciting. And I really enjoyed the pancakes I tried. Pepples Donut Farm is a pretty cool place in general.. Ive even bought some nice shirts from here. Love their stickers too. I've been wanting to visit this place and finally did over the weekend. Happy that they were still open for evening hours. I tried 3 of the top shelf donuts and the Philz Coffee donut was my favorite. Staff was super friendly! The cashier was new, but she was so helpful and made recommendations. It's a mad race to get the best flavors which are sold here at the farm as opposed to other outposts. You have to get up early and beat the crowd! When I had tried to find them in the Ferry Building earlier this year, they were closed before their stated closing time, which means they sell out quickly! I learned they also don't stock all the flavors at the Ferry Building. I trekked over to the farm and got there midday but albeit too late. They were all out of the raised donuts which are only available Fri-Sun anyways. The only options left were a variety of cake donuts with different flavored icings, mostly $3-3.50 each. I settled on the creamsicle and chocolate cake donuts, but they were dry. I mostly tasted the sugary icing more so than any flavor. The chocolate donut wasn't very chocolatey at all. As a baker, I would've dumped more cocoa into it, but maybe it's because I'm a dark chocolate fan. I wish I could've tried the jelly donut or the other delectable choices reviewed by others, but alas, next time I need to get up at 5 AM to get there in time! read more

I came here on a Sunday morning to get some donuts for my friend's bday since she can't have any dairy in her desserts and found out that they make all vegan donuts. Finding some a place that made vegan desserts was hard but I was glad that there was a place that wasn't too far that their whole donut menu were entirely vegan. I was so surprised as soon as I walked in that all their donuts looked like regular donuts. They have a large variety of flavors to choose from considering I was there around 11 am. The cake flavors I went with was black sesame, lemon poppy seed, Mexican chocolate, and lavender earl grey. The raised flavors are more of your traditional glazed and chocolate covered donuts. We did get their banana fritter and cinnamon sugar to try. The donuts all turned out pretty good. Some of the cake donuts were a bit dense and on the drier side. The raised donuts were probably better but my favorite was their banana fritter. It wasn't too oily and you couldn't tell the difference between vegan and non vegan. This place is definitely a cool place to try their vegan donuts if you or someone you know have dietary restrictions or simply just vegan. read more

Y'all already know what day it is... It's National Donut Day! Today I went out to our local @donutfarmoakland to pick up some fresh vegan donuts. I got matcha and blueberry, total classics. Then I had to spice it up a bit with lavender earl grey. Texture-wise, the donuts were crisp on the outside and nice and cakey on the inside. Flavor-wise, the matcha and blueberry were a bit mild, but when it came to the lavendar earl grey...that was 10/10! Absolutely delicious and would get again. I'm going for their Philz coffee flavor next. read more

For my Birthday Weekend I'm working, which is fine by me. I stopped off to bring treats to share with my colleagues. One of them is vegan and so we're having Peoples Donuts! Ordered 1/2 dozen carry out using the third-party Yelp link to Grubhub. Cinnamon Sugar, Vanilla Cookie, Lemon Poppyseed, Orange Creamsicle, Salted Caramel, and an Apple Fritter. I see that they no longer serve brunch at this spot but the donuts are still being cranked out every day. We swung by for a road trip snack and I am happy to say that their blueberry is still as good as I remembered. How do they manage to remain so soft and moist, yet still crunchy on the outside? Even after I forgot them in the car and ate them the next morning?! There were also a lot of new flavors. There was a whiskey one (sold out by noon) and a lavender Earl Grey that I really regret not getting. I was hoping the prices here would be significantly cheaper than if you were to buy from another retail shop but there's not much of a break in the price. All good. This isn't an every day kind of treat for me and would still be for special occasions only. read more

The Best chocolate cake donuts ever! My significant other said the Chocolate Cookie donut was the bomb! I LOVED the Mexican Hot Chocolate donut. Both cakes were substantial and cooked to perfection with the toppings being perfectly complementary. The outlet in Oakland fronts their business of supplying many coffee shops throughout the SF region. I highly recommend this place for any donut fix. We'll be coming back...a lot. read more

This Donut Shop is so awesome! I went in seeing that not only is there a bakery but also a brunch menu friendly to Vegs and Vegans. They also do app ordering and weekly special menu items that are exciting and creative. I had a great lunch and a moist and fantastic fritter as well. Late 2006: started making vegan donuts after inspirations found traveling, prototypes were delivered. donuts were made at eclair bakery on telegraph ave. In 2008 peoples donuts moved into china cafe in west oakland on peralta and 14th. in 2009 the donut co. Was featured in the east bay express article; vegan junk food. The founder is on the cover wearing a paper hat on which he scratched "Pepples" in sharpie. The first retail location opened @sfferrybuilding. 2010 Peoples Donuts changed its' name to Pepples Donuts & opened more retail @ 6037 San Pablo Ave in Oakland. It was here that brunch food, raised donuts and all of the cake donut favorites gave birth to Donut Farm. The rest is history!

You can get our donuts at Nourish Cafe, Ritual Roasters, Farleys on Potrero Hill, and at our ferrybuilding store when it re-opens 1/3/22. Feel free to request our donuts at Philz locations, but they paused their orders in 2020.

It would not have taken much effort to accept one last order from a loyal couple with a newborn--especially since nobody else was waiting behind us. In the end, Standard Fare is closing exactly as it operated: precise, rigid, and lacking warmth. Hopefully the next business in this location will treat its customers with a bit more empathy.

Door Dash was having a 2-for-1 deal on the Cali Alley Burger, so I ordered one of those (and got another for free) , as well as on the small mac and cheese, so I ended up with two of those as well. I got fries as he side for the burgers and saved the second burger and mac and cheese for the next day. I also bought a small side of veggie fried rice for lunch later in the week. OK, let's start with the fries ... wow. Super crispy. Don't know what they do to them, but I think I almost ate all the fries that came with one of the burgers before I even touched the burger. The fries seemed to have a coating like some fries do to make them extra crispy on the outside. Whatever it was, it made them so good, I couldn't stop eating them. I was almost too full for the burger. But who are we kidding? If there is one thing I am good at, it is eating more than I should. The burger, which is described on Door Dash as "char grilled, fresh ground brisket and short rib burger, served on a toasted brioche fun with crisp lettuce, tomato onion marmalade and garlic aioli" was thick and incredibly flavorful. I couldn't stop eating that, either. It was that good. I ordered it medium, and it was pretty pink, but it was sooooooo flavorful, and all the toppings worked well together. I didn't get any cheese on it because I wanted to try to burger by itself and not mask it with cheese. I might try adding cheese next time, but honestly the burger is so good, I almost wouldn't want to cover up its flavor with cheese. Oh, I almost forgot. When you order on Door Dash, you can opt to have them include a small side of their chocolate-chipotle bbq sauce, and I highly recommend that you get it. It's a really interesting flavor and is good for dipping the fries in. I didn't try putting it on the burger, but that might be good, too. The mac and cheese was OK. It's important to note that I enjoyed the flavor but it is more of an eggy consistency than a saucy mac and cheese if that makes sense. It has a nice kick of black pepper, which I liked, though. The vegetarian fried rice was also fine but could have used a little salt. All that to say, don't be like me and procrastinate, get the Cali Alley Burger and fries ASAP.
