Plenty of options available and donuts tasted fresh. I liked the chocolate donut with chocolate filling. Service was fine.

I think these may be the best donuts that I've ever eaten. We picked up a half dozen for breakfast yesterday to try a few different ones. They were extremely fresh, have a large variety of flavors, texture & flavor are perfect. If you aren't sure what to get, the staff is friendly and will make a recommendation. These are definitely very pricey, but totally worth it as a treat. I tried their glaze, raspberry jam filled with sugar topping, and the one that is a glazed donut cut in half to sandwich freshly whipped cream and fresh strawberries. All were delicious, with the whipped cream and strawberry one being my absolute favorite. I judge a donut shop by their glazed, because they must get the basics right. Donut Friend's glaze is large, perfectly textured and glazed to perfection. This donut shop is completely vegan - meaning it can serve people with a variety of dietary choices without compromising any texture or flavor. Southern California has some fantastic donut shops, but so far Donut Friend is my personal favorite. Absolute perfection!

This is a small LA-based donut chain with three different locations. I visited the one in DTLA and inside was bright, modern and spacious. The shop offered many different kinds of donuts including traditional glazed, old-fashioned donuts to innovative flavors such as passionfruit, and mochinut. I decided to try the matcha green tea donut with black sesame. It was so sweet. I couldn't taste the matcha at all. I've been a fan of matcha before it became a thing globally. Matcha is supposed to taste slightly bitter with umami. This was just sugary green colored donut. For me, Asian flavor desserts need to taste less sugary and still preserve the original flavors of the ingredients. I didn't taste any matcha or sesame. I tasted lots of sugar. The store also offers ice cream. Service was fine.

Donut Friend is a 5/5 experience We tried this place during a DTLA food tour and it was awesome. We each got to pick a full donut or ice cream and the choices were endless I went with the Samoa donut and it was delicious The kicker is that our tour guide didn't tell us until after we made our selections that all options in the shop are vegan! Regardless all items we got were delicious, the staff was so friendly and patient with our big group and let us sample the different ice creams (also delish). Check em out if you're in DTLA...you won't be disappointed

Donut friend is hands-down my favorite vegan donut shop. I love that they are dense there's a variety of flavors and they are always fresh. Today I got the berry donut with fresh fruit on top and it was the best part of my weekend. The shakes are also good!

It's the Donut Friend's downtown location. I've tried their holiday special donut, the Holiday Wreath, a raised donut with matcha tea glaze and decorated like a Christmas wreath. It costs about $5, on the pricey side for dozen, although it looks pretty and tasted sweet.

Don't really like donuts but sometimes I want a traditional glazed donut from Krispy Kreme. This spot is nothing traditional and all unique. Loved it. Very tasty and all the flavors were spot on. Definitely pricey but worth it.

OH MY G O S H! If you're looking for an amazing donut treat.... This is a great stop. And even better, EVERY donut is vegan!! I was greeted as soon as I walked in and offered help. The place is clean and the donuts are well displayed. Sooo many tough choices! We tried four! Traditional yeast donuts are a must do! The king puff reminded me of DD cream filled but sooo much better than I remembered. All four were delicious! What a great treat!

Best Icecream I've had so far! It has its own butter cream after taste which I haven't found anywhere. After trying few Taro Melos is the one we had. And a good old fashioned chocolate donut. But the green tea donut and lavender donut, looked pretty tempting too! Maybe next time. I'll definitely recommend trying their icecream. Lady at the counter was very friendly too. And it's a neat and clean space to enjoy some icecream and donuts with friends;)

That tart passionfruit glaze is bright and tangy. A mix of flavors and textures that keeps each bite interesting without going overboard.

    Not really in downtown...

Will these donuts still be good if eaten the next day?

    Absolutely!

Do they sell mini donuts? And how much?

Do they have any gluten free options?

No, but they can make some of their donuts "gluten freeish". They can't say gluten free because the the kitchen is not certified gluten free and they fry in the same oil as regular donuts.

    Are all the donuts vegan?

Yes, but you would never think they were.

How is parking at this location?

Mostly street metered parking but also some public lots near Pershing square and on spring street.

    Do they have WiFi?

    Nope

What time do you open tomorrow down town location?

They open at 6am every morning

We get is the Matcha Croffle + Ice Cream, Matcha Einspanner, Taro Einspanner, and their cakes. Only thing I knocked down a star is because Not all the workers know the answers to your questions of what is in what food item or if you can substitute the milks. So that's something Cafe Upper should train all staff. Especially if people have food allergies.

Personally, I don't like that style, I was hoping the original would change that for me! Long story short, I didn't like the Walnut Chocolate Chip. I personally just don't like that style still, so I'll chalk it up as a "me" problem. The cooked part was good. The Rocky Road was cooked through. Based on my memories, this LA location keeps it consistent with a similar taste and texture as the NY location. 3.5/5 Chocolate Chip Walnut: This cookie was tall and slightly undercooked in the middle. The middle was a bit on the squishy side, and crunchy on the outside. Due to the undercooked quality, it's not a cookie I'd get regularly, though I am a big chocolate chip cookie fan. 5/5 Rocky Road: This was delicious. I'm not usually a marshmallow fan, but the addition of this ingredient formed a nice chewy consistency that I expect from a cookie. Chocolatey tidbits were well melted into the cookie texture and produced some fudgey notes. The cookie sizes are large and potentially shareable, and feel like an every once in awhile treat.
