The park has a very small parking lot (6-8 spots?) but there is a public parking across the road. The park, aside from the playground, is lovely, expansive grass area, great for letting the kids run around or play football. Additionally, tucked in a corner opposite the playground, is an adult training area with an elliptical, benchpress and other workout activities, with a paved walkway all around the park perimeter. Well worth stopping to let the kids run free if you're driving through Charleville to Cork/Dublin or even if you're from around here and your kids need to run their sillies off. I took 1 star away because of the lack of parking, along with there being no toilet facilities. As someone traveling through the town, this is a must and sadly not a common occurrence in Irish playgrounds.

Grange hadn't played there in over ten years and were pleasantly surprised at the improvements in facilities; besides, they won the game 2-1. The Centre is owned by Cork City Council and is managed by a voluntary Board of Directors, comprised mainly of local community representatives and tenants. Some members of staff here are absolutely horrible, they're so rude. Whatever you do, don't be…read morecaught on your phone (even if you're looking at a program or reading something) because you'll get given out to and shamed in front of the whole gym. I've seen people get their stuff and leave because of this. Some members of staff are not very helpful at all. The new equipment is okay but the whole gym feels very cluttered and you can't work out in peace because you're constantly looking around to make sure nobody bashes into your barbell or that you don't hit anyone. At peak times, this gym is a nightmare. The queue for the benches, racks and dumbbell area is ridiculous. One can wait up to 10-15 minutes before a piece of equipment is available. Also for the past few weeks the lights on the outdoor running track have been turned off very early, about 5pm. We have nowhere to run. We can't use the upstairs indoor track because it is too small and gets crowded very easily. The pool is a nightmare. There seems to be kids classes on constantly and that leaves 2 lanes and an open area for the members. You can't enjoy a swim because of the sheer amount of people in it. Honestly, spend your money elsewhere. The Mardyke Arena just isn't worth it

The mardyke is a great gym, it has pretty much everything; gym, pool, sauna, steam room, cafe,…read morerunning track, astro turf, squash court, basketball courts. the gym is really good, a load of machines, a separate free weights section with two racks and dumbells up to 50kg, about a gizillion treadmills and bikes. Theres also a separate 'elite' section, and a separate women's gyn (not too sure whats in there though) you see all shapes and sizes in there, yesterday a guy was benching about 180kg and the next guy to use the bench was struggling with just the bar. It gets busy enough between 6.30 and 8.00 but not unbearable. The staff are pretty good by and large, its always spotless, parking gets seriously busy at peak times, all in all a fantastic place to train. I had read an awful lot of bad things about it online and really was expecting a dump. Instead, I've found a brand spanking new sports complex with more or less everything you could possibly need. And a whole lot of stuff that you don't(big 5 FTW). I just wish they'd turn on the sauna in the gents. And I could go in and out without getting lost-the place is massive, and everything looks the same.
