Indeed, this is the world of all things door like (aka eh...doors). Having lived above it for almost a year and never witnessing anyone but employees or delivery men entering this place, I'm slightly confused as to how it has managed to stay in business this long. By 'this long' I mean, a considerable time; seen as the first thing my day said when I moved into the flat was - 'oh next to that door place? I remember passing that on my way to work in [something along the British Steel lines but not as old as that]..'. Needless to say, it's an institution for locals who have walked or bus-ed past in for years. However, I reckon it's success is really down to all those DIY enthusiasts, renovators and consumer loving individuals around. I don't know much about doors but the staff were super friendly, very knowledgeable and just genuinely lovely. So, if you need a door then this is definitely somewhere you should visit. If you don't buy one here (God forbid) then at least you'll pick up some jargon and have an idea or what kind of price you should expect to get elsewhere. read more

I used to live round the corner from here, and was intrigued by the place. Did they just sell doors? Surely not, so recently I paid them a visit under the guise of needing a new door for renovating my flat, and I can confirm that yes, it's just doors. UPVC doors, solid oak doors, internal doors, French doors, doors as far as the eye can see. If it's a door, they'll have it, but if it's not, they won't. The staff were pretty helpful and there were a few other door fanciers in at the same time, so I think the place does pretty well. Their prices compare pretty well to places such as Homebase, and for a small shop they've got an impressively in-depth website, so if you're into doors, give this place a whirl. read more
