I've been here many times to work. The Internet isn't 100% reliable, and I had to try to login 10…read moretimes today before it worked. I ordered a "long black" which was 2.50 on the menu. When I went to pay, the lady who served my table said it was 2.60. I asked if it was more if you stay than take away, and she said it's more if you have the strong coffee, which I did not specifically order, and which I do not prefer. It would be nice to be made aware of options not listed on the menu. Generally, this place is reasonable, though I and my occasional guests have had some less than exciting sandwiches-- for example, the oude kaas was a mystifying pile of crumbled cheese on thick bread. Not my cup of tea. Speaking of tea, they do have a nice selection. The staff is usually friendly, and during the week it is a pretty good place to work on my laptop. Seating on the terrace is pleasant when the sun is out.

This is the only place in Hilversum where I have asked for an iced americano and have been given a…read moreproper one. As a homesick expat, I appreciate that to no end. It isn't hard to make, and I don't mind getting a cup of ice and pouring it myself, but this has been an issue for me in other cafés, who prefer to "doe maar normaal." To me, it shows that this café prefers to make their customers happy. Alongside this, the atmosphere is relaxed, the decor thoughtful, and everything I have tried has been delicious. The baristas are all friendly and helpful, and the music is tasteful.
