Never disappointed! I have done a few reviews about Doris Metropolitan, because my experience here is always the best. From beginning to end, their staff makes sure you have absolutely the best time! I will always get the Octopus dish because is unbeatable, but this time I also tried their bone marrow, one of my favorite food and it's not always available at other places. Come here for a great time, a wonderful experience and the best food. Classy, contemporary and elegant, the perfect vibe for a date or a celebration.

This was the final stop of our fancy Houston foodie trip. We had a reservation for a Friday night and the restaurant was full. This is definitely one of those spots you go for a special occasion, company event, or if you have extra dollars to blow to wine and dine real fine. Personally, we were there for a friends birthday and went all out. This restaurant is luxe with rolled toilettes and mouth wash in the bathroom. We jumped in with an order of espresso martinis and the caviar tower. The caviar was divine, served on a beautiful platter with blinis, lemon zest, pickled onions, fruits, and crème fraiche. It wasn't long until the full table was doing caviar bumps. We couldn't get enough of it. Other standout appetizers included the bread plate, octopus, heirloom tomato salad, fattoush, Jerusalem salad, tuna tartare, and artichokes. The focaccia on the bread plate was shaped like a bialy and was to die for. It was perfectly fresh and warm with an olive oil finish. The melt in your mouth tuna tartare was also a stand out. All of the dishes were made perfectly, it's hard to pick a favorite so it comes down to preference of taste. I prefer sour cream, tzatziki, and labneh in moderation, so the Jerusalem salad, fattoush, and octopus were smaller bites for me but still all around incredible and beautifully plated. I was a huge fan of the egg yolk in the tomato salad and how it provided a sunny runny pairing to the crisp acidity of the heirloom harvest. For our mains we ordered all of the meats. I had the rib eye cooked medium rare and loved the plated side of pink salt and black pepper where I was able add additional seasoning my steak to my liking. Around the table we ordered lamb chops, tenderloin, and the catch of the day (grouper). I wasn't able to try it all as we were swimming in food at this point but everyone was pleased. For our sides we had asparagus, truffle fries, and root puree. Everything was mouth watering and I could truly eat this meal again and again. Overall, I'd love to have another opportunity to visit a Doris Metropolitan. Thank you Houston!

Great service and atmosphere. Staff were welcoming and helpful. We had a tomahawk to share for 4 and it was perfect. We really enjoyed the desserts as well.

Went with a friend for Social Hour (happy hour) on Wed night. Had the BEST experience! Started with free valet at entry making the parking a breeze. Then our bartender, Tony, was amazing! Made the best Doris Martini (only $10 during HH!) He made sure we always had water with our drinks and checked on us regularly - amazing customer service. We loved the bread service - get it! Then tried the Tenderloin Kebab... oooh my gosh, that was delicious! Then we were treated by a visit from Chef Michael who stopped by and talked to us about their beef and gave us some cool info about their wagyu (can't wait to try that next time!) Overall a 5 star experience and looking forward to coming back to try regular dinner service!

I enjoy a good solo date and Doris Metropolitan did not disappoint! I had the ribeye with the humus salad and bread service! The bartender balanced service with allowing me to read in peace which was kind.

Espresso Martini was maybe the best I have tasted yet.

Outstanding experience! Elegant, special occasion type of place. Kind of a modern European type of decor. The service is a non stop rotation of people, and everything arrived hot and on time. Everything on the menu is kind of pricey, but it feels worth it. I love eating "I can't make this at home" types of plates. Exotic ingredients, complex flavors, labor intensive preparations, etc. Dry aged steaks, cooked to perfection. The sea bass and prawns were grilled quite nicely also. The roasted cauliflower appetizer was phenomenal. The bread is prepared from scratch, in house, and served with wonderful choices of flavored oils and butters. I would gladly come back here on another special occasion.

Went here to celebrate Christmas with some friends and had an AMAZING time. Everything from the ambiance to the service to the food was impeccable. DRINKS: The winter harvest was super interesting. I never had anything that was initially acidic and pungent with a slight hint of sweetness at the end. I couldn't really taste the persimmon note in the drink though which I was most excited about, but overall worth a try if you are looking for something unique. (5.5/10) The spicy margarita was refreshing with hints of jalapeño and cucumber and overall very standard. (6/10) The bread plate was so fresh and warm and I loved the variety of bread and butters/dips that they give you. Typically, I would avoid the bread and save my stomach for the other appetizers but I couldn't pass this up. The focaccia was super fluffy and paired with the smoked paprika butter was divine. The caramelized onion and feta roll was definitely my favorite of the three and I would definitely reorder this next time I'm here. (8.5/10) FOOD: The tomato salad was delicious and kept me interested with the multiple preparations of tomato. The dish was super light while still being well seasoned and overall the acidity and freshness makes it a great dish to order to juxtapose the richer and creamier appetizers. (8.5/10) The beetroot was the most unique item I tried all night. The cheese and pistachio filling stuffed inside was extremely decadent and complimented the sweetness of the beetroot super well. I would recommend this dish to any cheese lover. (8/10) The beef carpaccio was very fresh and lightly seasoned to let the taste of the beef really shine through. It was very comparable to other versions of this dish I've tried. (7/10) The octopus was my favorite appetizer. The charred grilled red onion paired with the creamy tzatziki, smoked tomato salad, and perfectly cooked octopus was one of the best bites of the night. I would highly recommend this dish to those who are a fan of Mediterranean flavors as this dish provides and elevated version of them. (9.5/10) The ribeye steaks were cooked medium rare and were very tender. I really enjoyed the smoky taste of the meat, but other than that there wasn't much flavor. I topped a few of my steak pieces with the bone marrow and I felt as though it didn't really enhance the flavor of the meat but just made the bite a bit richer. I felt like it was a bit bland overall and just like most other stakes I've tried, but I will say I'm not a huge steak fan. (6/10) The shrimp skewer was definitely more up my alley and were perfectly grilled and seasoned. I enjoyed the grilled vegetables on the skewer as well. I would order 2 of these next time I come. (8.5/10) The truffle fries were pretty standard, but who doesn't love a good fry? (8/10) The carrots were very well cooked and I enjoyed the labneh base, though I would've wanted to taste more of the spice for the harissa glaze. (6/10) The greens weren't anything special either but I think it was a good side to have along with the fatty steak and enjoyed the variety of greens it included. (6/10) DESSERT: The chocolate in bond is one of the top 10 desserts I've ever tried and that is coming from someone that only likes dark chocolate. The chocolate is so rich and creamy without being too sweet. That paired with the whiskey toffee, banana brulee and whiskey ice cream was exquisite. Though it may sound overwhelming, the richness and slight bitterness of the chocolate and whiskey ice cream counterbalances the sweetness of the banana brulee and toffee. (9.5/10) The cheesecake was also yummy. I enjoyed their take on a cheesecake and thought the smooth and creamy cheesecake with the white chocolate cream and a hint of the passionfruit sauce was very delightful. I felt like the lemon macaroons seemed a bit over the top and out of place, but overall still a great dessert (8/10) The sesa brulee, though it was unique, the halva did not add any flavor to the dessert and if anything just made it more difficult to cut through. The crème brulee was standard, but I did enjoy the rose and raspberry cream and fresh raspberries. Not my favorite dish, but worth a try if you are looking for a spiced up cream brulee. (6.5/10) Overall, the dining experience was super enjoyable and that is all thanks to our server Juan who was very attentive and really took care of us all night. Would definitely come back for a table with him. The parking is street parking as well as complementary valet. I would recommend this place for those looking for an upscale option to celebrate a special occasion.

Tried the food here and it did not disappoint. The oysters were very fresh and the tenderloin skewer was delicious! So flavorful. This is the perfect spot to enjoy delicious food, excellent cocktails & upscale scenery.

This place was amazing; from the staff to the food they didn't disappoint!! Tony the bartender was incredible! The food was great and the atmosphere was perfect! Highly recommended!

Bro...10 dollars to borrow the cutting board. Just charge us a dollar a plate and 50 cents a utensil.
    Samantha H.

I don't mind "fine dining" prices but the nickel and diming is unsettling. They charge 10 dollars for a carving board....the one they take back. It's like charging for your food being on a plate. Bro, that's literally ghetto.

If you want to take your Monday back, finish the evening with Doris and extended hh hours on monday. This HH menu cannot be beat! We indulged in a burger, tomato salad, octopus skewer, tuna tartare. We opted to finish the meal with a bread basket instead of dessert to complement our happy hour wine. All of the options were great! I would say you can't go wrong with a thing on the menu! Service was also quite lovely! HH seating is only in the bar area . Mondays 5-9, tues-sat 5-7. Reservations recommended during peak hours. Complimentary valet available.

Is the restaurant dark inside? Looking for a steakhouse that is not dark.

Most all steakhouses these days are dark because of rich wood paneling. Looking for fun, lighted ambiance, great steak/food quality-try Juliette's on Westheimer.

What is the attire for this restaurant?

Definitely business cas/ or first date attire. I’d say that’s part of the fun, but there’s no rule against straight cas.

I've had my fair share of Paulie's but never had the chance to come to Camerata...until now. I had been missing out for so long! We journeyed from white to red wines throughout the night. We started out with the Babylonstoren, a chenin blanc from South Africa. We then moved into pink (rose) with the Ana Beirut - a blend of cab sauv, syrah, and tempranillo grapes with a bit of skin contact to give the wine the pink color. Lastly we ordered the Guelbenzu - a red blend of tempranillo, cab sauv, syrah, and graciano. This full-bodied red was the absolute fan favorite of the table. Food options are on the light side: meat & cheese boards, bread, and small bites. We started out with the warm bread - while it's normally served with butter, there's an option to switch that out with olive oil & herbs which is what we did. We then went for the meat & cheese platter. We couldn't decide on which meats or cheeses, so we did the option of ordering all 8! This came with 4 delicious meats and 4 tasty cheeses (from Houston Dairymaids), also with crispy fava beans, olives, pickles, and bread. This was a good amount for our group of 4 to share. Elena was our server and she was absolutely OUTSTANDING. She vibed with us throughout the night and made sure that we were well-taken care of. I loved her energy along with her vast knowledge of wines. We got plenty of good recommendations from her during our time there. I'm super sad that Houston will be losing this gem permanently at the end of the year (and even more sad that I only discovered it in the last month of its existence). While I know that owner Paulie won't be moving this venture to a new spot, I do hope a descendant of Camerata manifests itself somewhere in Houston in the coming years.

It's part of the Paulie's Restaurant brands, but completely separate from the restaurant from what I could tell. Parking is a bit difficult, but after a bit of circling we were able to find a spot and make our way in what looked like the back entrance. It was very low key, and despite the sign, the door seemed almost hidden in that back little corner. The staff seemed to have a bit of a hipster vibe-- not unexpected given the Montrose area-- but were very friendly. They offered suggestions, but let us go with what we wanted to try. There's a food menu along with the drinks, but we were heading to the restaurant next door, so we passed on grabbing food. We ended up going with a couple of glasses of red and a couple of the specialty chocolates. My wife loved her salted caramel chocolate. I enjoyed my peppermint chocolate. For the glasses of wine, I've got better at home for bottles the same price as those glasses. My wife really enjoyed the vibe, but even if this place wasn't about to close down, I'm not sure I'd be coming back here often. It's just too hard to park.

I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. I will always treasure and remember Vinology and plan to support the business more in the future. Hats off to the folks who own and run this wine establishment.

First, we got there pretty early for our reservation. We sat almost immediately upon check in. Our waiter was in training but did a really good job. Ordered a whiskey sour. Was seated at the bar so I got to watch it be made. The bartender- man that guy never stopped. He was organized and just did his thing. So many pretty drinks were made while I was there watching. The pink one, whatever it was, was really pretty! On to the food. We got two apps, two meals, and two desserts. Husband ordered the Brussels, Steak Frites, and the Devil's Affogato. I got the Bacon covered Dates, the Pizza, and the Sticky Toffee Cake. The Brussels were good - husband liked them more than me. They were good. Had cashews in them. Little spicy. The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. The arugula set it off so well. Def a buy again! The Steak Frites was so good. The chimichurri sauce was perfect. Just the right mount of citrus. Steak was tender and the fries seasoned well. The desserts - don't skip them! The Devils Affogato we had the first time we ate at Sixty Vines. Had to have it again. If you like coffee, chocolate and vanilla ice cream just get it. Unfortunately, just like my first visit, they were not fully met. We had reservations for brunch, and our party of six was seated immediately on the beautiful second floor. Service was efficient throughout the meal, with our waiter taking our orders promptly and the food arriving quickly. To start, we ordered the Brussels and the hummus. The Brussels were cooked very well and had an excellent crispy texture, but I felt the kung pao vinaigrette lacked the bold flavor I was expecting. A little more sweetness and acidity would have helped brighten the dish and make it more memorable. The hummus, on the other hand, pleasantly surprised me. Both the red beet hummus and edamame hummus were flavorful and enjoyable. They paired well with the crisp flatbread and even served as a nice accompaniment to some of our less exciting entrées. For my meal, I ordered the marinated artichoke pizza, which unfortunately did not stand out. I had the same issue that I experienced during my previous visit: the crust was simply too thick and chewy. After a few slices, my jaw was genuinely getting tired from all the chewing. The pizza also could have benefited from more bacon and a more generous amount of sauce, as it came across a bit dry overall. The campanelle suffered from a similar problem. While I understand that simplicity was likely the goal, the dish was so understated that it ended up feeling bland. It tasted like a slightly elevated version of buttered pasta with just a hint of white wine. There was nothing particularly wrong with it, but it lacked the depth of flavor needed to make it memorable. On a much more positive note, the carrot cake pancakes were easily the star of the meal. I tend to gravitate toward savory breakfasts, but my sister was eager to try them, and I am so glad she did. These were not your typical pancakes. They were thick, fluffy, and incredibly soft in the center. With toppings like maple butter, maple cream, mascarpone whip, candied walnuts, and cardamom sugar, I expected the dish to be overwhelmingly sweet. Surprisingly, everything was balanced quite well. While I cannot imagine finishing an entire plate by myself, anyone with a sweet tooth would absolutely love them. Overall, this restaurant continues to impress me with its atmosphere, service, and a few standout dishes, but the entrées I have tried have not lived up to the hype. If I were to return, I would happily order the hummus and carrot cake pancakes again, but I would probably skip the pizza and pasta in favor of trying something new.

It took over what was literally the WORST Jamba Juice kiosk ever that always made me late to class when I was still in school. This was a much needed improvement, because you can't get turnt up on a smoothie no matter how hard your blessed little heart tries. Even the spelling of the Whole Foods Megacorp's 95th in-store bar will get you a little turnt up, either from sheer whimsy or out of college-educated just plain knowing better how certain things are spelled and how certain things are not spelled unless they are as full of shit as a Christmas turkey. The difference is whether you are on your first or seventh pint moreso than whether you skipped second breakfast and elevenses before showing up here in all of your splendor. Mondays are pizza/pint night for $5 between 6-8pm. Local Brew Fridays are $3 pints between 3-6pm. Write that one down. Also according to the internets, the last Thursday of the month is Zoo Beats Day so between 6-8pm some spare change marches into the coffers of the Houston Zoo's conservation efforts. If you would not drink for the critters then you are a very bad man. Get my hat Felicia, we're drinking for three.

They have happy hour, which sadly ends too early to really consider it "happy." (HH is Mon-Thu 2-5pm). They have a food menu of cheese plates and pizzas, or you can build your own pizza for $8. I created a pretty damn good pizza with chicken, broccolini and artichokes on wheat crust - da bomb. The server even mentioned she was gonna make one of her own. Weekly Specials: ::Mon 6-8pm: Slice of 'za and pint of beer for $5 :: Wed: $3 select pints, $4 select wines by the glass; HH food specials 6-8pm :: Fri: $3 local pints 3-6 pm :: Sun: $3 mimosas noon-2pm The Kirbside Bar opens at 11 am.

I might have just found one of my new favorite restaurants in Houston. What a great experience!…read more Recently, a good friend dined here and immediately called me to tell me how great it was. She then text our friends group and said we all had to come together and we did just that. She made reservations in advance as this place is popular thanks to recent Michelin Bib Gourmand awards as well as many other accolades. Walk ins are welcome as well. Our reservation was later in the evening so after a night of bar hopping, we ride shared in which I think is one of the best options as parking is limited here or you have to find street parking in the neighborhood. This place is literally a house turned into a restaurant. Inside is just multiple rooms with a couple of tables. It makes for a unique, intimate dining experience, perfect for a date night. In our case, we were a group of nine so we got patio seating. The patio is spacious and well kept, and if the weather cooperates, a great place to hang. One thing that really stood out to me is the amazing ambience of this place. I was told that the bartenders pick the music for the night from the owners extensive vinyl collection. Once the album is in, they play it in it's entirety. The sound system was systeming and on top of the great company and food, we were totally vibing with the music. Customer service was amazing. Every staff member we came across was so friendly, especially our server. The menu here changes. There are some mainstays, but they like to change things up. Their website shows current menus daily. We were told that family style is the best way to experience this restaurant. I am one of those people that will always listen to the staff and go with their suggestions. Our group went through quite a bit of their menu from apps, entrees and desserts. I loved that our server and staff brought our food out one by one in what they thought was the best progression so we could take a culinary journey. We started off light with their popular Dilly Bread. Best bread I've had in awhile. Next was the Texas Tartare. It was my first ever tartare and it was delicious. We then moved on to Fingerlingin Good which was a crispy potato dish with chili crisp and mascarpone. It was potatoes elevated to the highest level and so so good. Next up was Beer Battered Sweet Tots. I didn't think sweet potatoes could be that good. Our first entree was a vegan dish called the Carroty Kid. I could seriously become a vegan if all dishes tasted like this. It was curried. A bowl of jasmine rice would've made it a complete meal. Next we tried another famous Nobie's dish called Nonno's Pasta. Handmade, perfectly cooked tagliatelle with a delicious bolognese. I wouldn't share this next time. Ok, I will, but it was that good. On to the heavier dishes. First up was the Jamon With Your Bad Self. This came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. It was favorite heavy entree. It was high quality, iberico pork steak with shaved brussels and all kinds of other tasty ingredients that when combined made such a tasty bite. We then went to the sea with the Drops of Grouperter. It was good, but not something I would order again. It was a little too smoky for my liking. Our biggest dish that came market priced was the Kick His Ass Seabass. This was a whole fish that was presented beautifully on a platter with all the accouterments to make your own elevated fish tacos. We left no morsel of fish behind. It was absolutely delicious. One of the things this place is really known for is their pies. This was the part I was most excited about. Just like their menu, their pies change up. We got all their offerings that night which they presented on one big platter of goodness. Their main stay and I believe always on the menu is the famous Olive Oil Cake. It's not a pie, but I can see why this is such a popular dessert. I can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The pies we had were the Black Bottom Strawberry Pie, Banana Rum, and the Peanut Butter Pie. I would order all of them again. We all had a difference of opinion on which was the best, but my fave was the Banana Rum. Overall, I was highly impressed with this place and kind of mad at myself for waiting so long to make it here. It had made it's way to the top of my list of favorite restaurants in Houston. I will be back.

Flavors, flavors, flavors! This was another on our list of Michelin Bibendum spots to try, and we…read morethoroughly enjoyed the meal. We started with a dozen oysters 2 ways. The first were "natural" and nicely briny. The 2nd was pure genius: they said it would taste like a Big Mac, and they were spot on. Amazing! Steak Tartare - the steak and deviled egg mixture were satisfyingly velvety and the accompanying bread was buttery, chewy, and addictive; Puff Puff Pass - unique textures: crispy, chewy, smooth elements are married beautifully. Nonno's Pasta - this dish was my least favorite. I found the flavors to be too cheese forward with not enough acid; Jamon With Your Bad Self - while not much to look at, this dish was outstanding. The pork's texture was simply magical, and the flavors well-balanced. On the side, we had the Fingerlingin Good potatoes, and they lived up to their name: pleasantly crispy and bursting with savory goodness. Desserts: the Olive Oil Cake was a dream: incredibly moist and tender with vanilla richness and a kiss of lemon. The Black Bottom Pie was not my favorite. I would the salt to be too much and couldn't eat more than 2 bites because of it. Service: warm, gracious, attentive, and efficient. As for ambiance, this is where the restaurant misses the mark for me. It's in an old house, and when we walked in, that's exactly what I smelled: old house. Still, if you're looking for a unique, creative menu that delivers on flavors, add nobie's to your bingo card.
