This is my first and hopefully last review I will ever have to make. I would think twice if you were thinking of sending your child to this school. My son has told me that a staff member, Mrs. Campbell, grabbed him by the arm to slow down, and his friends verified this happened. They have shown me pictures on their phones of the red marks she left on his upper arm. Regardless of him running, she shouldn't have laid a hand on my son. They all said she can be really mean at times and overly aggressive. I was really upset and was going to file a complaint, but my son didn't want any unwanted attention. He will be going to Seabury Hall next year with his friends. He said it wasn't a big deal, but I think it is. read more

DTCA is the best school our daughter has ever attended -- we felt safe, loved and cared for and Mr. Fitt -- the most aware, approachable and caring Principal -- is gifted in leading this amazing school. Our daughter tells everyone that the reason math is her best subject and that she loves it is because "Mrs. Anderson my third grade teacher taught it to me in a way I understood it". Due to her love for math, she now she wants to be an Aerospace Engineer. Academics are highly valued at DTCA and our daughter is well prepared both spiritually and academically. We love DTCA! our family was very blessed to be able to send our son here from 3rd-8th grades. The teachers and staff at DTCA care about their students and give kind, thoughtful, professional instructions and guidance! Our son today, is a graduate of Seabury High School. He has been granted an athletic scholarship to a desirable, well-respected Boston college. I love this school. The staff truly cares about the students as a whole person; mind, body and spirit. They also are good to the community and support local neighborhoods. Not only are they supportive to my child but also for me as well. We are new to the island and they have been a supportive community as we adjust and make friends. Awesome Christian school! Not only did my husband and I attend Doris Todd Christian Academy, but our kids attend now as well. These teachers have heart and a desire to see kids succeed and understand what they are learning. They pray for the children and families on a regular basis and rally around families going through difficult times. One of the elements I treasure most about attending this school was the verse memorization. Yes, it seemed daunting at times, but it was a beautiful foundational piece in my life that I still carry with me today. I'm very thankful to have attended there and now to have my kids attend there. read more

I spent 3 years here. This was one of the too three best things to happen in my adolescence. They really encourage Bible memorization with is still with me 34 years later. I didn't always enjoy it, but it helped me to have that otherworldly perspective that inspires and brings life. The teachers are very committed to the kingdom of Jesus Christ. read more

We love this school and miss it!! We lived on Maui for 5 years and had 3 kids go through Doris Todd school - it was a fantastic experience. The academics, positive atmosphere and surroundings are SO worth it. Every one of our kid's teachers were outstanding. The administrative staff were highly dedicated and kind to a fault. There's so many good things to mention... smaller class sizes, beautiful newer classrooms surrounded by windows, all kinds of fun activities (can't forget the giant history tank battles!), excellent academics, the 'cookie bookies', the way older and younger kids have fun together, the way the staff members and teachers have such a great social bond of friendship, and just an overall incredible environment that you rarely see nowadays. The kids rarely get in spats there and bullying is virtually non-existent - how many schools can say that nowadays? Seeing them play together and explore in the big playground area is truly a 'Mayberry' thing to behold. I saw that another reviewer slammed the principal - NO WAY - good luck trying to find a more dedicated, kind & knowledgeable principal anywhere. As far as the entry parking lot, it works smoothly enough once you get used to it - certainly a lot better than most larger public schools. Christian values are taught respectfully and in soft balance at this school. A one minute chat with any teacher or staff there would make that fact obvious. We deeply appreciated the values that were represented in a balanced, intelligent way. Those that have lived on Maui know the reputation of this school is really strong (check the SAT scores too!) If you live on Maui and are able - don't miss this gem. Your kids will love it and you will too. read more

My daughter attended Doris Todd Preschool from the age of 2yrs to 4yes after unfortunately we had to leave due to a move. I cannot describe what an amazing experience this was for her. She thrived. the director and first year teacher is amazing her patience, kindness and teaching ability are everything one could want in a leadership position. All the staff are great with the kids and everyday was a joy for my child. The education was the perfect balance of academics and play. The tuition is extremely reasonable. DTCA is a fantastic school. The academics are challenging, interesting and taught by well educated instructors that have a strong faith and a willingness to see our children thrive. The classes are small in size, so teachers are able to really know and work with each child individually. The small size enables the entire faculty to know the students as individuals and help prepare them for their journey in life. The students themselves are very respectful and supportive of one another. The community, all in all, is very sweet and nurturing. In addition to great academics they offer an affordable after school program and (although limited) there are a few extra circular activities available through the school. read more

One star for $6k annual most reasonable private school tuition. Otherwise, regular turnover of teachers, elderly principal who runs school like a military academy not in touch with todays reality. All subjects revolve around born again christian beliefs. Kids forced to memorize many many bible passages, Science, revolves around no such thing as evolution. It is more important to re write math questions in a certain way then produce correct answers. No gymnasium, no library, no outdoor sports. Band is a requirement and very serious. Different children told me they hated it there. We are a religious/spiritual family by the way and my child received very good grades. Pick up and drop off of kids is a miserable experience. An awful experience for my child and unless you cant spend the extra money for St Anthony or Montessori and refuse public school you may end up getting stuck like we did for a year. read more
