One of these such stores is Karen Millen. Although a little over budget for the majority of high street shoppers - Karen Millen is a heavenly shop with heavenly clothes. Tailored, stylized and good quality - this place proves your Mum true when she said "you get what you pay for." This particular Karen Millen store is a really great size and stocks a large range of clothing. Worth a visit!

Every time I wander in I feel like a kid in a sweet shop - I would love to have a wardrobe full of dresses from here, but sadly, I don't. Everything is so glamorous and you'll also find shoes, handbags and other accessories to match your outfit. Unfortunately, everything is really pricey and my student budget doesn't stretch that far but one day one of the amazing dresses modelled in the various eye-catching window displays will be mine! There's also a smaller concession of Karen Millen in House of Frasers but for the full experience you definitely have to venture across the road.

Admittedly, these clothes aren't aimed towards my age group but even for those who may want to purchase them, I found them a bit expensive. I don't know if I was expecting this place to be along the same lines as Happit, or perhaps more provincial and selling some practical wooly jumpers to help locals brave the elements. It's more designer than the aging fronting of the shop store sign may suggest, and so more expensive. There were a lot of studded jumpers and work trousers downstairs, along wiith a section dedicated to selling insulated jackets and more practical fashions. Upstairs, Wilkies hosts lingerie, bedwear and some designers. The clothing on this floor is more up market and more up to date than that of downstairs. A lot of the clothes up here struck me as being suitable for trendy dinner parties, and some items would certainly suit someone in the process of jazzing up their wardrobe. But with jackets coming in at a cool £150 each, it was hard to see past the price label. This store is undoubtedly handy for locals and is certainly good quality. But if you're looking for something a bit more up to date at a slightly cheaper price, you're probably better going to M&S.

Oh, the dresses are gorgeous - expensive, but lovely lovely lovely. From the LBD to the emerald green cocktail number, they really do have a wide variety, which makes me very very happy, and a lot of other people very very happy. When it comes to sales they know how to do it - 90% of stock gets 75% off. How brilliant is that?!

It's a popular choice for prom dresses, especially for more quirky girls who don't want to buy the same red satin ballgown as the other girls in their year. The sister store, Accessorize, is also amazing - but in the same turn merits its own review. Either way, most things sold at Monsoon are high-end and, if you're under about 35, strictly for dressing up. If you prefer to buy something more expensive in order to know it will last or feel a bit more chic, Monsoon is the place for you. Although it's out of most high street shoppers' price range much of the year, the sale is always worth a go round. Lovely well tailored pieces, great for business casual and dressing yourself up a bit.

I didn't want to go to the usual places like Coast and Monsoon because I was terrified someone else would turn up in the same outfit as me, and even worse, look better in it! I trudged round all sorts of stores from bridal boutiques to vintage stores but I eventually got my dress from Wish. It was £260 and was one of the cheaper dresses on offer! I really loved it and no one had a dress remotely like it, it which was fantastic! However, in general I am not a fan of Wish. It is just too touch and go. I think I was lucky that on that day I found something really stunning but most times I'm in it is full of really trashy dresses. It reminds me of outfits strippers would wear for when they are mingling with clients and pretending they like them so they'll cough up the tenner for a lap dance. Very few of the dresses look like they cost over £200 and some of them are closer to £500! The girls in the store are very nice and spent a good hour with me the day I bought my dress for my ball, but for me it is too much to pay for dresses that look like something from Quiz or Logo. I will keep popping in from time to time on the odd chance I'll find a little hidden gem, however next time I am looking for a dress for a special occasion and have another £260 to spend I'll head to Cruise or the designer shops in the Italian Centre. If I'm going to be spending that kind of money then I might as well get a little designer number that is stunningly crafted and timeless.

Zara does some fantastic tailoring which has a quirky twist to it and the colour palette is often quite muted with the likes of beigh, khaki, black, grey etc which I like because Zara clothes make a great base on which to build an outfit. I had been searching for the perfect mac for yeeeears and finally found it in Zara this week. It was £70 and I will wear it for years to come as it is very classic looking and will never go out of fashion. In fact it makes me feel like a sexy female spy during WW2! Or inspector gadget! One bug bare with Zara is that the clothes are sized as xs/s/m/l/xl and it is a bit of a pain trying to work out which size you are. I finally realised that I am an extra small (which I really shouldn't have been surprised about as I am a midget) but some of Zara's clothes stop at a small for some bizare reason. I've heard a lot of complaints about the length of Zara's trousers and jeans but a little known Zara fact is that they will tailor any of your purchases for free! Zara is a Spanish company and in Europe women don't think twice about getting all their clothes tailored to fit them perfectly. Zara have brought this ethos over to the UK and thus purposly make their trousers quite long to accomodate tall statuesque types but can also alter them for free for munchkin types like myself.

A few years ago Zara was one of my favourite shops, I bought pretty much everything out of here but I've recently grown out of it for some reason, I guess my style has just changed. I have a few really cosy knitted jumpers from here that have lasted a good few years and only cost around £20. I have to admit, many of clothes at Zara are great value for money and you can get quirky tees for as little as £6. They have really pretty dresses and tailored jackets too which are always a little bit different to most shops on the high street but they are rather expensive and some of their shoes can be over £100 and I don't really think they're anything special. I like the fact that Zara has their own range of perfumes and cosmetics, their lip gloss is particularly good and only £1.95 a pop! I guess, if you're looking for a new outfit then Zara is a good shout and you'll more often than not come away with something pretty. This is probably one of the best Zara stores around Glasgow as it is huge and they often have a sale section too so you could snap up a bargain.

Evans is a shop selling women's plus sizes, so I usually am in here with my family rather for myself (though sometime soon I will probably develop more curves since I eat like a horse - and that ain't ever gonna stop). They have some gorgeous dresses and long tops which hug curves in all the right places. It's all very contemporary, affordable high street stuff. Unfortunately my mum threw a temper tantrum last time I was in here - she said that nothing suited her! Which was rubbish, since she left with a gorgeous dress in the sale and some swanky new undies. I like the clothing in here, and they have some rocking accessories. Very pretty stock that accentuates the voluptuous body of curvy vamps everywhere (and that is a body shape which should be celebrated much more in the media). With friendly staff that were really helpful to my mum as she stomped around in a tizzy, I was impressed by all.

I have a fantastic pair of extra wide calf fitting boots and they are still going strong after about 4 years. The footwear is all wide fitting which sometimes means I have to size down. The boots range is always excellent and some of the prices are very reasonable, but even at that I now really struggle to find boots in there which fit on the calf as they seem to have stopped doing the extra wide calf fittings. I am disappointed by this decision as this is problem so many women (big or small) suffer from. The clothing starts at size 14 and goes up to size 32, so for some larger ladies this store is a godsend. I find some of the designs really spot on but having said that a lot of their stuff is quite frumpy and overpriced for what it is. There are not enough on-trend items to tempt me to buy the clothes but I realise not everyone who shops in Evans is in the position of looking elsewhere. I think this is a missed opportunity as the plus size market is growing, and I hope Evans take this on board.

I'm not sure whether to thanks Claire as I'm sure it will be a bad for my purse in the long run ... but thanks anyway! I knew about COS as soon as it launched as I used to be a bit more into fashion than I am now (don't judge my boring fashion sense, please!) I like H&M but not a whole load - their clothes don't tend to be great quality and are so cheap it's actually a little depressing. When I first checked out COS online I wasn't that excited by what I saw as everything looked a little shapeless, boxy cut clothes and bland. Thankfully I paid the Princes Square store a visit as this has completely changed my opinion of COS. Sure, their stuff is pretty plain - patterned pieces are definitely in the minority - but it all has a sleek, classy look to it. I saw a lot of items which I'd love to have in my wardrobe, and the prices weren't as high as I was initially expecting, around the £50-£70 mark for dresses. The other thing that caught my eye is their accessories and there were some really nice cuffs, necklaces and scarves which are all on my wishlist. This is a really large store, way bigger than I expected as it goes back and around a corner. There's a good sized women's section which I'd guess takes up 2/3rd of the store, and there's also mens clothes. There could be kids stuff too but I tend to blank that kind of thing out. This time I was just in for a browse, so didn't try anything on or deal with the staff.

Grown up H&M and I love it!…read more Gorgeous well made, quality clothing - some classic pieces but with an edge. Great for the work wardrobe or just for casual basics - I like their t-shirts. It is a lot more pricey than H&M but they have beautiful clothing. The sizing is decent here too - not like Zara where the sizes if you are not a skinny mini are impossible. Come here prepared to blow the budget, but these are clothes that will last and last. Sadly I don't get the chance to come here often as I'm in Edinburgh but when I do there is always lots that catches my eye. Trousers about £70 and some skirts (wool) about £60-£70 but there are cheaper options. Changing rooms are clean and there is space to move about without thinking you'll fall out bum first. The sale is decent too with it being a genuine sale so about 50% off stuff. All in all, my go to place when I want some lovely work and casual wear.
