This review is specifically because of their insane price increases. Today I went in and ordered a 16 oz side of poke. I ordered it two days ago and it was $16. Today, it was $25. I would have understood a couple bucks, but $9 is insane. The 8 oz poke went from $8 to $15. Service is great and I love the staff. Storytime, children, come sit by my knee. Last year, I got dumped so, so hard while I was traveling to CA for work. (I know, terrible. BY TEXT, too.) Aaaanyway, the morning after the breakup, and after missing my own birthday dinner, I had my annual review (yes, this is all still very terrible), so I went to Dory Deli to try to eat something first. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the kindness of the staff as I sat there with enormous sunglasses on inside and cried into my Boardwalk Burrito for twenty minutes. They brought me tissues, made sure I hydrated, and packed up all-but-two-bites-of-burrito with thorough instructions on how to warm it up at my hotel when my appetite returned. Sometimes the experience has nothing to do with the food and everything to do with the humanity of the people there -- although crispy hashbrowns in a burrito is an inspired choice and you absolutely cannot complain about the proximity to the water. This place is right on the Beachside walkway and very bustling today as it is Memorial Day weekend. The seating is self serve and you order at the register and the food is brought to you. We had the Fish and Chips, Tuna Melt and Mahi Mahi tacos. The Fish and Chips were served hot and crunchy batter. The fries / chips were okay, not any seasoning and not very crispy. The Tuna Melt and The Mahi Mahi fish tacos were excellent. We also ordered a kids meal PB & J waffle for the little one. Very yummy, but very messy. The place was well kept and clean. We came here for breakfast & loved the ambiance. Open air with views of the beach. I had a vanilla oatmilk latte. My husband had an iced latte. So good. My breakfast burrito was delicious. Crispy hash browns with scrambled eggs, cheese & avocado. It was huge. We could have split it, as we did when we came back a week later. He got chicken & waffles. All fantastic. Came back at dinner the next day. We shared a grilled cheese sandwich & each got tomato soup. The tomato soup was amazing. Some nice tomato chunks but smooth & served with crumbled cheese on top. Loved it. Service was ok. My sister in law waited almost a half hour for her food, when she inquired about it, no one apologized or seemed to care much. 2nd time here. We walk by this location a lot since it's got prime real estate on the boardwalk. You order at the counter and then try to find a seat. It can be a bit challenging on the weekends since it's so popular but you do eventually find a spot. 1st time I had the curry chicken salad which was good. Today I wanted the ahi salad but they were out of ahi. So I asked if they had the poke available & I was in luck. I just subbed lettuce for the rice. It was really good. I got way too much ginger but that's just me. Everything worked well together and I enjoyed the flavor. My friend had a burrito the 1st time and said it was good. This time she got the mahi tacos which came with good chips. She said they were good but may try something else next time, Great people watching if you are near the front. SYOY! read more

I ordered a wellness bowl with no feta and with cauliflower, but they failed to remove the feta from the bowl. The cauliflower took over, and after the big chunks, there wasn't much else left. Also, there was a huge chunk of hummus that I had to confirm was hummus because it didn't look like hummus at all--more like tuna--and it didn't taste fresh at all. Overall, I was really disappointed. The location is great, but this was my first and last time getting that bowl. read more

I appreciate the openness of the restaurant, having the ability to have views of the beach and that the restaurant has multiple seating areas, including bar seating. This is counter ordering type service. Customer service had great vibes and a great attitude and was simple. Food came out pretty quickly. I wasn't impressed with our orders, nothing to rave about the Dory Wrap or the Poke Nachos. We came on a Friday night and their closing hour is at midnight. The one thing I was most confused about was that I went to the bar at about 9p to order some drinks and the server said that even though they had announced last call, she would take my order. Yes, the gesture was kind but her tone wasn't. And last call at 9p with midnight closing??? With plenty of bars surrounding Dory Deli to get our drink fix, we could have easily skipped Dory Deli. read more

I've eaten here a few times. Today I stopped in for a breakfast burrito and a cup of drip coffee. The coffee was warm not hot. What I didn't like a refill for the coffee was two dollars. I paid $20 dollars for a burrito and cup of warm coffee and you don't give a free refill. Starbucks gives a free refill. read more

I was having a nice long walk this afternoon when the grey day turned wet! That was not in my plan. We were hungry, so we ducked in here to get out of the rain. What a pleasant surprise. Our order was taken quickly by a friendly server in a dory deli t-shirt. The menu was full of all our favorite beachside bar munchies. We split the chowder and the fish and chips with a cold beer. The view is wonderful if you ignore the parking lot in the foreground. The dining room is comfortable and casual. Our food was hot and pretty average but tasty, the beer was cold. Located right on the Newport peninsula! I've been going here ever since it was only a deli shop. Just had the chance to sit down and to try their in house meals. Their menu has a lot of potential. There are many items I'd like to try. Came here on a Thursday for lunch with no wait at the bar. We ordered micheladas to start. They were as expected for a bar in Newport (Except for Sharkeez, they have the best michi's.) These were a little watered down. Food: Orange Chicken Cauliflower 4/5: These were delicious however slightly overly dressed. Some pieces were either too salty or soggy. I'll probably order these next time with sauce on the side. Caesar Salad Wrap 1/5: I subbed the spring mix for romaine. Everything about the wrap was so dry. Both the tortilla and the chicken felt way overcooked. There was definitely not enough Caesar dressing in the wrap. I do like that the restaurant offers healthier/cleaner options compared to the rest of the restaurants on the peninsula. Might have to opt for one of the burgers or sandwiches the next time I visit. read more
