As always, the service is stellar and every time is presented at comfortable intervals. We started with a frozen Prickly Pear Margarita and a Prickly Pear Mocktail. Both were refreshing and my pleasantly enjoyed brain freeze made it a highly recommended libation. Our entrees were both Tacos and they did not disappoint: Carne Asada Tacos and Vegan Cauliflower Tacos. Each were accompanied with rice and the Carne Asada Tacos also came with refried beans. Their seasoning was on point, each plate came with three soft tacos, and both courses were filling. Came here for dinner with friends and it was a nice enough experience. It wasn't crowded but service was a little slow. It was very friendly, however. We started with guacamole, which was okay. We asked for it medium and it was very bland.....I didn't taste any cilantro. I had a cadillac margarita, which was also fine. For my main, I had a shrimp quesadilla. That was pretty good. It would have been great if it had some beans on the side but there was a little quac, and that was fine. We were hoping for dessert but they only had churros and ice cream so we would have passed. First, no one should expect fine dining anywhere in Times Square. With a million people at any given corner, it is no surprise. We came with low expectations and we weren't disappointed; not because the food was unacceptable but because the experience was. We went to this restaurant and politely asked if we were allowed to bring our stroller into the restaurant. It had our little Shih Tzus in it. They were contained and n a stroller. The manager was a godsend because it was oddly cold outside and dogs are normally not allowed inside NYC restaurants. He prepared a space for us and asked us to keep them quiet. We did that. We bought them food to eat to help that process. First, the service. The waiter we had was just awful. He took our order without writing anything down and promptly forgot half of it. As a result, our chips and salsa came at the same time as our apps and our main meal. He totally forgot the guacamole that was supposed to be made at the table but wasn't. The server was totally disinterested. We had low expectations of Times Square so we just got on with it and tried to enjoy our meal. A couple of guys pulled up a seat at the bar across from us, saw the dogs and gave us dirty looks. It was noticeable because some of the restaurant staff quietly came by our table to apologize. One of these two guys then proceeded to effectively tell us off for having them there in the first place. Shih Tzus typically have aloof personalities and don't bark; because they are small, they typically let out a little yelp once in awhile when they want something and in a restaurant that, typically for Mexican restaurants, was playing loud music at 15 decibels, no one heard the yelp except for our new friends at the bar. That just got them started all over again and it became intolerable. At that point, while it was clear that the manager was doing his best to keep everyone happy, he didn't seem sufficiently ta do so. The manager could have reseated them on the other end of the bar (the bar was wide open) or, they should have just moved down on their own. We just decided to pay halfway through the mail and leave, it was so intolerable an experience. Don't bother with this restaurant. read more

I'm only recommending Dos Caminos for 1 thing.... if you want to meet someone from out of town in Times Square and you want a seat to view all the action at that corner with TKTS. Otherwise: 1) The music was jacked up to the point we had to shout even though we sat right next to each other at the window counter, 2) Happy Hour prices are only at certain sections of the place, 3) It's ridiculously overpriced, 4) The food was OK, but there are many better Mexican spots a stone's throw away and elsewhere in the city. I've brunched at Dos Caminos before and always had the most pleasant experience. I've had my first dinner there and it was different. Margaritas (classic) tasted off. Almost artifical. Not sure if they used fresh limes. Couldn't even finish it. Apps seemed smaller, though delicious. Three entrees were served but two had to share a portion of rice and beans. I found it quite peculiar. I've never gone to a Mexican restaurant where rice and beans were shared with the table. Those entrees were the "Dos Enchiladas", which for what you got, the price point didn't seem to match. We were also told all entrees came with rice and beans. I got the crispy beef picadillo tacos. They were delicious and legit crunchy/crispy. My tacos held up perfectly and didn't break once bitten into. A very satisfying bite and I always appreciate a good sturdy taco. Nothing came with condiments. There was no salsa (save for a tiny thimble for my tacos), Pico de gallo or sour cream. I always found that to be a staple with any mexican dish. Perhaps they're doing things differently. I did end up asking for them. The ambiance is always on point as they have a ton of space to work with. It was lively and pretty busy. There is better Mexican but in the middle of Times Square, this will do just fine if you're looking for a quick, tasty bite. read more

This gem is a few steps off Times Square, like an oasis from that chaos. Margaritas are so good here, I loved the pomegranate one! We are from the Midwest (so lots of Mexican food experience) and this is my daughter's favorite place to go in NYC. She got the big bowl of tortilla soup - fabulous! Quesadillas also great! I went to Dos Caminos in Midtown for a team lunch with coworkers. We each ordered our own entrée and also got chips with salsa and guac for the table. The chips were great--I ended up eating a lot of it. I ordered the combo fajitas (steak and shrimp), based on the waitress's recommendation of popular dishes. Unfortunately, I think they gave me chicken and shrimp instead. Not a dealbreaker, but a bit disappointing. Service was okay--kind of hit or miss. They did a good job clearing plates and remembering to bring things we asked for, like the hot sauce (which helped bring some extra flavor to the dish). But overall, the experience didn't quite live up to the hype. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing really wowed me either. I had such a great experience at Dos Caminos! My family and I went before going to a show. The food and drinks were all so tasty. We ordered the nachos for an appetizer and they were perfectly topped with the toppings and a good amount of meat. I personally ordered the fish tacos (beer battered). The fish was cooked perfectly and were perfectly dressed. I ordered a virgin blood orange mojito and it was really good. My family ordered the patron tower which included 4 frozen margs served in mini patron bottles. The presentation was nice and my family all said they can definitely taste the alcohol. My favorite item was the poblano cornbread. It was SO GOOD. It was so moist, especially with the butter and mouth watering. I literally couldn't stop eating it. I took a bite of everyone's food and everything was pretty tasty. My second favorite entree was the chicken quesadilla. The birria tacos I thought needed a little more salt. For drinks, we got the Sangria Swirl. I enjoyed that drink--nice mix of margarita and sangria. For our entrees, we decided to get tacos. I got the beer-battered fish tacos, and my friend got the blackened fish tacos. We were supposed to share one of our tacos so we could try the different version, but we forgot. Directly in the heart of Times Square Dos Caminos is a crazy busy spot, but we were lucky to jump in later in the night when the line wasn't too crazy long. It's a pretty classic Mexican style restaurant with enough options there is something for all the people in your group. Our waiter was very attentive as he was closing out other tables and getting orders from others. Of course, every good meal begins with chips and salsa; this was no different. The birria tacos were very good, but very messy. Unfortunately, they were pretty greasy and it got all over, be sure to grab extra napkins if you get these. I should have known it wouldn't go well when I asked my server about putting the vegan cashew cheese, that will be coming on my cauliflower tacos, on my street corn as well. He said, "Yes, and any menu item we can make to order, we can take out the cheese to remove the gluten." When my food arrived I received a bowl of plain corn for my street corn and my cauliflower tacos had no cauliflower or the vegan cheese (just pico and avocado), and a side of white rice. One of the best sangria I have tried, it was cool and freshening and made us ready to enjoy the NYC , had been here for a girls trip and we all were hungry and walking around Times Square when we stumbled upon this place , it was small from the entrance but later we got to they had a whole area below, it was nice and decorated by the theme, but down it was a bit hot and sweaty. The food was very good especially the fresh guacamole. Wish they gave more salsa with the chia as we were a large group of 8 and the extra salsa was charged. Since I'm still participating in Dry January, I ordered a virgin mojito ($6). My friend got a house margarita on the rocks. For our entrees, she ordered chicken enchiladas and I stuck with a carne asada quesadilla. We normally always order churros when we go to a Mexican spot so naturally we did ($11). I'm so confused with how my order was messed up twice. My dad and I went in for a bite to eat before our show and the place seemed great, although I'm not sure why we couldn't eat upstairs. There were plenty of tables open downstairs, yet we were sat in a very awkward corner with a low hanging lamp next to the table that I hit my head on. I was really craving a bean and cheese burrito, and I'm always on the hunt for the most epic bean and cheese burrito. I know, super simple, but it's the best. I didn't see a bean and cheese burrito on the menu, but I noticed they had one on the kid's menu with chicken. I asked my server, Nicolas, if it's possible to order just a bean and cheese burrito and he seemed cautious at first but then said it was fine. He asked me what beans I would like, and I said the black refried beans. He asked if I would like queso and I replied with a no thank you. About 10 minutes later my dad's food showed up, along with my side of beans and queso dip. I told Nicolas this is not what I ordered and he looked puzzled. We went through the bean and cheese burrito explanation again and he seemed more confident putting my order in. However, now that left me without food while my dad ate. Another 10 minutes passed and a burrito emerges! Unfortunately, it was one of the worst burritos I have ever tasted. The tortilla was dry AF, the beans were spicy pinto beans, and the cheese was not melted and looked like rice. I ate what I could because I couldn't explain this a third time and we had to get to our show. When the bill came, I noticed Nicolas charged me for their Dos Pastor Burrito that has guacamole, Spanish rice, borracho beans, ranchero salsa, Mexican cheeses, pico de gallo, queso blanco pastor-marinated chicken and is also $24!!!! It was now 30 minutes before the show, and I was exhausted from my experience at Dos Caminos. I sucked it up, paid the bill, and left. read more

The restaurant is two floors so it can accommodate more guests than it appears to on first sight. We loved everything we had from the drinks, to appetizers and the main course. The menu has so many delicious options that we had a hard time deciding and opted to get 1 appetizer to share (the Tex mex queso dip) and each ordered a main that we then halved and shared, the Pancita Al Pastor tacos and skillet chimichanga. We had leftover queso from our appetizer and we dipped the skillet chimichanga in it which took it from great to perfection. The Pancita tacos were full of flavor, a little messy, but is a taco even good if it's not messy?!
