The restaurant opens at 7:00 p.m. for dinner, earlier than the customary 8:00 p.m. Spanish dinner hour. Complimentary appetizers of potato chips (crisps) and olives were served, an excellent touch! I ordered a Pizza Arrabbiata, which was a pepperoni pizza. It was 34 cm, just a bit larger than an American 12 inch pizza, but similarly designed as an individual serving for dinner. The pizza was excellent, cooked in the Neapolitan style. A little spicier than similar American pizzas. My wife ordered Ravioli ai Quattro Formaggi (four cheese ravioli) and enjoyed it. Very reasonably priced. Located in the historic district and recommended for lunch or dinner.

We are from California and with some patience from our waiter we ordered peppers, paella and steak. Coke zero and a bottle of Albariño completed our order. Although it took a little while we were served some bread and soon after that our peppers. Big fan of the roasted peppers. Slight bell pepper flavor but not hot. The steak came still sizzling and perfectly cooked medium rare. Lean and very flavorful. As good as every thing was, the highlight for me was the paella. Beautiful. Langostinos sitting on top of a large bowl of rice with chorizo fish chunks peppers onions and probably some other things I missed. Absolutely the best paella I've had. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Melt-in-your-mouth Octopus…read more This place is so good we went back the next time we were in A Coruña. It's also easy to get to - just a couple of short blocks from the main square (the one with the Obelisk). I have never had Octopus so tender and flavorful. The generous portion comes with potatoes, crusty bread and a starter for 20 Euros. Also enjoyed a couple of glasses of Estrella beer - so refreshing. Also recommend the Scallops and the Prawns. The staff is welcoming and attentive. If you have never tried Octopus, get out of you safety zone and give it a go - I'm betting you will be glad you did.

The tour had mentioned that octopus is one of the most beloved dishes in A Coruña, so I knew I had to try it. But where? I turned to Yelp and searched for the best octopus nearby. My answer appeared almost immediately, A Taberna de Cunqueiro, just a five-minute walk through the enchanting old town, boasting nearly a 5-star rating with 37 reviews. When we arrived, the place was packed, buzzing with locals and tourists alike. Just as I was scanning the room, probably looking a bit lost, a friendly waitress caught my eye. With a big smile and a cheerful "hola," she seated us right away. She went above and beyond, recommending the best tapas selections to start, and before we even had a chance to order, she brought over a warm bowl of potaje and jamón ham con pan--such a thoughtful touch! We ordered two refreshing local draft beers, Estrella de Galicia, and dug into the delicious appetizers. The casa croquettes, Iberian ham, small scallops, and of course, the Galician octopus, were all simply amazing. Each bite was a true taste of Galicia's culinary brilliance. After a second round of beers, we were so stuffed that we had to call it a day just as they were preparing to close at 2:00 PM for their lunch break. This spot has an amazing vibe and you can tell it's one of the locals favorite as it reas full of young people adding to the energy. This place quickly became one of my favorite while in A Coruña and merits multiple visits. Did I also mention that owner was in the kitchen making sure this packed place functioned like a well oiled machine. The vibe is so authentic, the staff are incredibly friendly, and the food? Unforgettable. I couldn't even imagine giving anything short of 5 star review definitely be back next time I'm in town!
