I have eaten here on two occasions. The food portion is on the smaller and pricier side but that is fair. What is not fair is how the servers and hosts treat parties/customers that don't look as affluent/important as other clients. First time I ate here for lunch was around August 2021. The host, who wasn't busy with duties or the POS machine, ignored our party at the time (guess we didn't look like *affluent* customers) so it took a while for them to seat us in the many open & clean tables. Then, our first server left our table unannounced without transferring us to another server. Managed to flag a manager down 30 mins later who assigned us a back-of-house worker as our server -- nothing wrong with that; however, it is not the customer's duty to proactively manage the front-of-house operations and roster. We were finally able to order WATERS and food then. Second time was a reserved dinner (table for 2) early November 2021. This time the host was able to find us a seat (which is the expected bare minimum when reserving a table, in my opinion). However, many servers ignored our table. What's worse is that a few servers/hosts looked our way and they either failed to noticed or didn't care that we didn't even have drinks served to us to start with. The room was alive with parties larger and more bombastic than our table. We waited 20 mins before leaving unserved -- no server made time to ask us anything. Perhaps the thought "not my table, not my problem" ran through their mind when they saw us. Perhaps if we looked as affluent/important as the other clientele then we would have at least been served water, and food, in a timely manner (both occasions). Perhaps if I brought a party of 6 then the automatic 20% gratuity would've made my table more enticing to the servers (both occasions). My friends and I do restaurant work. It's absolutely not easy but that doesn't mean ignoring "lesser" customers is the appropriate choice. Again, I've had two bad experiences here with front-of-house workers. That's unacceptable. Basically, come here if you look rich. The dress code here is "business casual" but don't expect to come to Dosalas to be quickly served unless you look more busine$$ rather than casual. Eat anywhere else if you like being served food and water in a timely manner. Absolutely abysmal FoH service. read more

Dosalas is expensive. Brunch for two, including tip, ran to $120. That's pretty heavy, especially for Vancouver. However, the quality here justifies it. The food is superb. More than that, it's that fusion of a classic cuisine style (in this case, Mexican) with new and innovative flavors to create something new and awesome, that builds upon the foundations, and enhances them. This has become common to attempt in the past 20 years, but rare to achieve. Dosalas succeeds, in spades. Service was a low point; we were abandoned periodically for long periods, but I'm prepared to forgive it. Dosalas also managed to impress me in the craft cocktail arena, a space that has been overdone to the point of ennui, lo this decade past. The outdoor space is great. Large overhang will allow for outdoor dining in a lot of different weather conditions. We took my mother-in-law here for her birthday. We were seated on the deck with only one side of the table with seating that had backs. The other side was just a bench. It was difficult to move everything together to feel close enough to the table. The food was alright; however, pretty expensive for the portion size for the small plates. Pallea seemed like a decent deal and was good. No kids menu. This was a huge issue for us as my daughter is picky. She loves salmon, but the only option was a $26 piece of salmon with a chile rub on it. I could not bring myself to pay $26 for my 9 year old. It was very difficult to find something for her to eat. We went here last night for a fancy dinner and it did not disappoint. Kevin with the dope Versace tie was our server and he was amazing. We got the short rib sopes, the empanadas, the pork belly, the ceviche, the mashed potatoes, the elotes, and the tomahawk steak and everything was delicious. Our eyes were a little bigger than our bellies so we're currently grilling up some of the steak for breakfast. The cocktails were also amazing, he was a big fan of the sex on fire, if you like mezcal and absinthe I highly recommend this one. He also got the smoked old fashioned which comes int a little cabinet thing that they bring to your table and its full of smoke. I got the beautiful pear basil and the guava lavender and they were both delicious. Front desk experience was good. Reception upstairs was pretty decent. Decor and ambience were superb but poor acoustics, super loud. The waitress kept removing her mask whenever she spoke to us, ridiculous. Other servers were doing the same thing... A certain expectation of refinement comes along with a certain price point, needless to say, expectations were not met; service, Service was mediocre and far from refined. We had reservations for four but they only brought three glasses of water to the table, one of which had some green debris in it. We had asked the waitress to hold off on the paella until we ask her to bring it after we're done with the six appetizers, another waiter brought it without us asking. We told him we're not ready for it so he took it back but our waitress immediately brought it back to our table. Food quality, Empanadas were super salty. Jumbo prawns on the paella were massive but too hard, over cooked. The paella rice was swimming in oil. Ceviche didn't even taste like ceviche, it was very disappointing! Octopus was super rubbery and salty. The only thing that was edible is the Mexican corn. Too much focus on the drinks and not enough on the food. At the end of the day the most important factors that determine the success of a restaurant are food quality and service. read more

We came here for the first time a few weeks ago and although the atmosphere was a welcome change they try way too hard to be trendy. The music was way too loud, the cocktails and small plates, although tasty was over priced. I found it most perplexing that our food came out at separate times (party of 4) so it was a bit awkward when it came time to eat. To cap it off, the toilet didn't flush, it appeared broken. For being so new, I expect their plumbing to work. I tried to give them another chance and made reservations to celebrate my friend's birthday. However, when I called to modify the reservation, they couldn't accommodate two more people. The hostess was neither helpful, nor did she seem to care. The atmosphere is very nice and there is a patio with a great view. The seating is comfortable and the place was clean. The food was not very good. We ordered several dishes, such as guacamole that come with chips traditionally, but they came with the big, round tostada-like things that tasted stale, and they were covered in Tajin (A powdery pepper powder) that made a huge mess each time I took a bite. The ceviche was more like a poke salad, just a pile of raw fish with some tiny bits of orange in it. We did enjoy the cuban paninis, those were actually quite good. The selection of tequila was impressive, but the server kept forgetting that we asked for our shots chilled. The music was a bit too upbeat for a Monday night. This was our second time we visited DosAlas.. I noticed their prices went up, but the quality in food did not. We ordered a bottle of wine for four people and the waitress did not know how to pour, we had wine all over the table, not sure why she felt she needed to measure the wine in everyone's glass, the food was so so very small portions... I mean 18 bucks for empanadas? 34 bucks for octopus and potatoes ? I could see if the food had the fine dinning quality but it doesn't, just feels like you're paying for the ambience rather than the food, portions are small and 100% not worth the outrages price tag. read more

Came here thinking that the food was going to be spectacular but sadly was let down a little bit. For the price of the place I was expecting a lot more than what I got. In terms of drinks and the place itself, it is a great beautiful spot to dress nice and take photos with your friends on a night out but if you're coming here for food I would definitely go someplace else. Maybe this place is just not a good match for me. Service by Yannick was excellent. The place is elegant inside. I just don't feel impressed or that there is a wow here. We gave this place a second try after initially giving a 1-star review because management offered to make it right and "be my guest". Management also wanted to apologize face to face for a lackluster first impression; that didn't happen, and no one mentioned it when we came in. Anyway. We paid$236.53 total for dinner and 2 rum and Cokes. We ordered one chicken soup, one empanadas, one elote, one guacamole, one gazillion dollar steak, one slice of cake. It just wasnt *that great*. This new restaurant does not disappoint. It has an upbeat atmosphere while retaining a sense of style. The food was amazing.

We made reservations for 4 for a window seat and were seated on the patio promptly. It was a little windy as the screen has a small gap at the bottom but it wasn't terrible. We ordered several things to share. The tuna tostada, empanadas, street corn, tomahawk steak and the pork tenderloin. Everything was so DELICIOUS! We loved everything we tried. Every bite I had was good. Their standard margarita is potent and tasty. But the rest of the experience ranged from silly to irritating. First, the level of pretentiousness is hilariously high. It feels like someone gave some high schoolers a couple of million dollars to come up with a "fancy" restaurant, and one of them watches Vanderpump Rules and likes tacos. My friends wanted to sit in the part of the restaurant where you can actually see the river, but you can't get happy hour out there, even though there was no one out there and literally only 3 occupied tables in the whole place. Our server seemed annoyed we were there for just happy hour (it was 4:30). I like a server who is somewhat civil but this one was barely tolerating us. Then after she dropped off our food, she disappeared for a half-hour. My friend had to go find another server who took our order for a second round. Our original server didn't turn up for another 15 minutes after that and then we had to tell her that someone else had taken our drink order. So- it was a mixed bag. $9 for a tiny portion of guacamole. But $10 for a decent margarita. Delicious street tacos served with the withering stare of a local college student. A nearly nonexistent dessert menu. A middling spirits menu. Maybe they can get the kinks out. read more

Had friends in from out of town and decided to give this place a try. We had a early reservation and were seated promptly. We ordered several small plates. We had a side of carrots and they were hard as could be, crispy pork ribs, more like crispy pork bones since there was very little meat at the end of the bone. They had an arugula and corn salad that accompanied the bones. Salad was on top of a big glob of bbq sauce. Cuban sandwich was just so, so. Had the half chicken and was pretty blah. Actually, all the food was pretty flavorless. Our waiter gave us what the desserts were, cheesecake, chocolate cake and sundae. We went for the chocolate cake. When it came out it wasn't what you'd call a light and fluffy cake. It was flourless cake and was more like fudge. Very disappointed in the "cake". I made that comment to the waiter and he laughed and said I know , they need to change what they are calling it. I felt the waiter should of told us that it wasn't a traditional cake and more like a fudge. Whatever. The place has a nice decor but, the music is very loud and hard to talk with our friends. Nice view, but I don't need to pay for that. Price is on the expensive side for what you get. I have never seen so many employees, guess he needs to pay for the overhead. We also saw 2 kitchen workers in white chef coats come through the dining area and their white coats were filthy, must be wiping there hands on their coats, they were young and sure they were line chefs and not sure why they were walking through the restaurant. Only criticism is our server was a bit quick to pull food/drink from the table. We ordered the Pearl Margarita which serves two. Our server grabbed the elegant glass pitcher in which the cocktail is served before we had finished its contents. It was pretty obvi we had more to go but when we tried to stop her, she thought we wanted another pitcher! As we pointed to the unfinished contents, she handed the pitcher off to the busboy and whoosh, gone. Not a big deal until you see the price. I ended up having to order another drink at $18, so ummm, dang. The kitchen forgot one of our side orders but we had had plenty of food by then so that was fine. 5 year wedding anniversary I was absolutely blown away with the service that Kevin provided my wife and I. We only let him know it was our first time there and not that it was our wedding anniversary. But the treatment we received was 10/10! Kevin not only was able to let us know about what Dos Alas was as a restaurant but how it came and the different style of it not being a traditional 3 course meal. We started off with beverages and the vintage fashion coming out in a smoked glass case was insane. We tried the Brazilian cheese bread and the short rib empanadas and the only complaint I have with that is that I wish there was more haha. It was so good! For dinner we decided to order the Ancho-Spiced Lamb chops, Pressed Cuban, Mexican street corn and BBQ Carrots. So with that we had to try desserts! We ordered the recommended Caramelized Basqued Cheesecake and the Mexican hot chocolate cake! Both were phenomenal! I want to say we ate absolutely everything based on flavor but boxes of leftovers to make sure we were able to walk out of there haha. Once again I would like to thank Kevin for the experience he provided from the drink to the dessert recommendations. We will be back and we will be requesting Kevin again. Tried this place twice Bc I didn't want to give up on it. The atmosphere and decor is beautiful (reminds me of a wannabe Beverly Hills restaurant) which I'm totally ok with since I miss home. But the food and drinks were not fresh... everything we ordered tasted lukewarm or reheated. And the paella (which was the thing I was most excited about) came out within 5 minutes - if you ever order paella at a restaurant, then you know it takes 20+ min if it's fresh. You could tell the rice and fish were sitting there for a while. The drinks were good- but overpriced. Don't mind spending money; but would like quality food/ drinks in return. And the music was so loud!!! It was actually kind of painful at one point. I went here with my boyfriend, sister in law, & a friend and we all loved it! The aesthetics of this place is beautiful. We sat in the corner booth overlooking the waterfront and it was gorgeous! Everyone who worked there was super friendly and the service was very fast. The only thing that offended my group and I was when the tequila bar cart guy stopped at every table to ask for shots and looked over at us and skipped us. While the atmosphere is above and beyond the drinks and service superb. This to me should be the base line of any restaurant and at 1/2 the price. When spending $40 for an entire bottle at the grocery store I should not have to spend $50 for a shot out of the same bottle. Are the drinks good? My hubby and I heard all of the hype about Dosalas so we figured that we needed to check it out for ourselves. First off the decor is drop dead gorgeous. I love the white leather seats, white gray marble table tops, beautiful chandeliers and the glass case of the beautiful hand crafted tequila bottles. I ordered an Old fashioned drink that came delivered in a box that was its own little smoker. The food did not disappoint. We started off with the pork empanadas that had a delicious spicy sauce and pickled red onions. Then we had the mango ceviche with the spicy sorbet (the sweet and spicy seasoning on the tostadas was out of this world)!! We then had the lamb chops that were the juiciest lamb chops that I have ever had. I loved the salty & spicy seasoning on the lamb chops. We also ordered the street corn that was so smoky and bursting with flavor. It was a very romantic place to go on a date. Afterwards we watched the sun set out on the pier overlooking the water. We have been serval times. The views from the outside seating and the interior are super nice. Service was always great. The last 2 times we went the prices are way up and the service has declined. This time we ordered the Clams & Mussel plate. There were 24 clams and mussels combined. 8 we're not opened. I put them to the side. When the waitress finally came back I said these were not open. She took them and said she will tell the cook. She came back and said that wasn't enough to give a discount and offered us free ice cream and we didn't want ice cream. We received nothing in return, didn't even get the 8 back or replacements. She said when it's close half not open then they remake them. So, 1/3 of the meal we were not able to eat and we had to pay full price for the plate. We will skip here in the future and won't be returning unless someone has a get together there and will be mindful of what I order. Service has declined. They also have a cart person go around and try to make you a drinking I don't of you for $25 a Margarita. So much more in the area that's better and has better pricing read more

We love this place! Why? Because of its flamboyance. It's so NOT Oregon. The female servers are all dressed up looking HOT! The male servers are all dressed up looking good. The music is upbeat, party vibe. They hire beautiful people. And all if this in turn motivates their guests to dress their best and come to party. Great drinks, good food. It's expensive. Really fun and sexy new spot! My husband and I are vegan and they had a few good vegan options! We got the vegan paella and it was incredible! The only thing that would've made it better would be a protein like beans but the flavor was on point! Drinks were great as well. No vegan option for dessert or I would've gotten something.
