So, every time I think about the Double Dragon Inn, I'm reminded that, according to a friend, they used to air a commercial in which they chanted "Double Double Dragon Dragon Inn Inn." This gets stuck in my head to the tune of the Safety Dance. As expected, the Double Double Dragon Dragon Inn Innnn is reallllly old school. They have flaming pupu platters, and ours was okay except for the pork, which was hard along the sides. The fried rice was not *that* salty. The General Tsao's chicken was really gooey. I didn't order a soup, but it looked really good and I was disappointed that I didn't. At about $15/person for a filling meal with tons of free tea and awkward service, it was great. Menu was sticky, and the napkins smell very bad,as they are lightly washed and never soaked . The chow mein is a bunch of vegetables, not noodles and the shrimp is from a can- very small shrimp. They put pork in everything and allow for no substitutions. The rug is filthy through out the restaurant. The men's room has no sign. The women's room has a sign. The spring rolls were fried and some kind of animal fat.. The overall experience was very sleazy. However the restaurant has a lovely view. read more

What a surprise! Incredible mai tai. Best scallion pancakes I have ever had. Delicious Crab Rangoon. Super flexible when I ordered my main. Vegetable fried rice was super fresh... Asked for it with pineapples, garlic and broccoli and the broccoli was perfect. My partner ordered General tso chicken which did not disappoint. Touted as chefs favorite and it was awesome. Host was efficient and friendly and our waiter was courteous and knowledgeable. Get yourself a suffering bastard at the double dragon in. I have never been here but it will become a go to place especially in the winter on the Cape. I'm just sorry that I eat my food before I took a picture! read more

I'm starting this review by saying Patrick is our very favorite bartender on the Cape. He is a master bartender and treats everyone the same if he has one person at the bar or 100. The food here is good and comes out quickly. We enjoyed the scallion pancakes a few times in addition to the American chop suey during our last visit. You're never going to get a bad meal here. Overall, the decor hasn't changed in years. The inside could use a slight facelift, especially in the bar, but that doesn't stop us from visiting every time we come up to the Cape. read more

I have been going to the DD for years, 30 or more and something has happened in the last year and a half, must be a new chef, he is terrible, the help I didn't recognize anyone. Waitress not attentive, brings warm tea and we ask for more she goes outside and is on her phone. I won't be going back, it's sad because it used to be good. read more

Really pricey for mediocre Chinese food. The atmosphere and staff are nice but it cannot make up for the bland food and price tag.

It's rarely a good sign when you approach a restaurant that has rivers of excrement streaming from its side door. With so few places open late on the Cape, I JUMPED at the opportunity to try Double Dragon. It turns out I'd also have to JUMP over a flood of what had to be urine and feces. A nondescript man later warned me "you're not gonna want to step in that." Beyond the creek emanating from what must have been a bathroom explosion, I settled into my torn red-leather booth mostly pleased to be smelling something else. The waiter was a really great guy, totally on the ball, and made the interior-experience as pleasant as possible. The beef lo mein wasn't a tragedy by any means, but it ranks pretty low on my all-time list. I thought "why not" on the egg rolls and I couldn't finish one of them (some kind of bitter taste to it, can't quite place it). I give the Double Dragon Inn two-stars rather than one because it's the only option of its kind within a 20 mile radius. I appreciate the late hours, that the food didn't directly poison me, and that my waiter was a kind soul. Also, who knows what led to that horrific deluge of human waste, but they really should have just closed down instead of subjecting it to would-be customers. read more

Ordered and paid over the phone, was able to get curbside pickup. They also have earth friendly, microwave safe, biodegradable containers now, so I don't feel so bad gorging on Chinese take out. All the food was great as always. We go here often and have only had a bad experience once in our years and years of going. (One time, 2 yrs ago, a waiter was rude to us). As these kinds of Mandarin/Polynesian/American places go, I thought it was one of the better ones albeit a little older and worn but that doesn't bother me. We had a couple drinks and shared a few appetizers and looked out over Town Cove. The chicken wings were piping hot, the boneless spareribs were moist and tender, and there was something different in the egg rolls that was really tasty. IMHO, anyone who goes into a place like Double Dragon expecting authentic, regional Chinese cuisine is simply out of their mind. Go back to Chinatown, would ya? Scorpion bowl is amazing! When you visit cap cod next time do visit this place. Good Ambiance, tables in the back are water facing. Just beautiful. Service is super amazing (Guapo's restaurant people should learn from these folks on how to serve customers). The waiter took his time to tell about the menu and make very good suggestions. He was honest enough to give us right info that what we were ordering should be more than enough. Very attentive staff. Food is tasty! I'm surprised by the harsh reviews for this place. I thought it was pretty awesome! Plus it has the best name ever!! We came as a pit stop on our 20 mile bike run and were dying for a snack. 3 of us split the pupu platter (haven't had one of these in years!!) and of course a scorpion bowl. The food was great - it was exactly what an outdated Chinese/Polynesian restaurant should be: greasy, salty and tasty. There was nothing in the platter that wasn't good. Even the hot & sour soup was pretty solid. They also give you some free tea and fried wontons to nibble on while you're waiting. Service was excellent. Our waiter kept coming back to check on us and see if we needed anything, but didn't hover. If I find myself in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to come back. read more

The Double Dragon (or the Double D) is your typical big city style Chinese food cuisine. Fried rices, chicken fingers and the combo dishes that are typically offered in these type of places. The food itself is ok and not great. Some dishes are greasy as you would expect from the western style Chinese restaurants. My advice would be opt out of the fried rice and get the steamed with your dish. The prices are high as with most of the places in the outer cape. If your looking for a take out Chinese food place then this is a OK choice for the Orleans area. read more

We've been going to the Double D for years exclusively for their drinks and scorpion bowls. Went the other day and even those suck now. I've spent many-a summer night over the last decade or so traversing various watering holes and eateries on Cape Cod. In particular, I focus my nightlife adventures in and around Orleans, as that is my 'homebase' of sorts when on Cape. I had driven by the venerable and odd Double Dragon Inn on 6A countless times before I actually set foot in there. The place- set back off the road and overlooking the Town Cove- is reminiscent of those old school tiki lounges and Asian-American eateries that used to be widespread 30+ years ago, until chic Pan-Asian restaurants took over and sushi joints popped-up in every suburban strip mall. One night about seven years ago, while out and about in Orleans by myself, I decided to check it out. It was love at first sight. In full disclosure, I have spent nearly all of my Double Dragon time in the bar, but that doesn't mean I haven't sampled the cuisine. But let's focus for a moment on the bar. It's small, dimly lit, with no windows, and adorned by bamboo trappings and faded, old red leather. Like much of the seventy-mile stretch of coastline that the Double Dragon calls home, this place is like stepping into Doc's DeLorean in 'Back to the Future' and setting the destination for 1977. In fact, workers at the Double Dragon have often boasted that it opened in the late-70s and little remodeling has been done...no surprise there. This step back in time is part of the charm of the place. There's no pretense, no loud music pumping (no music at all), no scantily-clad girls behind the bar trying to be flirty in hopes of getting killers tips from the summer tourists or a lonely local. Instead, there's always a ball game playing on the one small TV in the bar area, and a small but eclectic group of people sitting at the bar. Hell, if smoking were still allowed at bars, I suspect the bar would wreak of Camel's regularly. If one orders any of their signature tropical drinks, they come in an old-school decorative glass that is either shaped like a dragon, a coconut, or something along those lines. The scorpion bowls are a highlight for many, as they are strong as all hell and are served en fuego. When I'm not drinking my usual vodka and soda, I opt for a Headhunter, a sweet and frothy concoction served in one of those aforementioned coconut-shaped glasses. Speaking of drinks, one of the other key elements to the Double Dragon is Patrick, the man who is behind bar most nights. Tall and lanky, and always clad in a short-sleeve Hawaiian shirt, Patrick is outgoing, funny, incredibly kind, and makes it a point to get to know the customers. Over the years, he's come to meet many of my family members, and remembers everything about them. He also pours one hell of a good drink, and his bartending skills even will occasionally border on entertaining and showy. Think of him as a Nepalese version of the Bryan Brown character from the film 'Cocktail.' Hands down, Patrick is my absolute favorite bartender on the Cape. So what about the food? Look, it's not going to be the most memorable and exquisite Asian meal of your life. But if you're looking for those old-school Chinese-American favorites, then you won't be disappointed. I'm quite fond of the American Chop Suey with Pork (it's overloaded with diced onions and drizzled in a mysterious yet tasty white sauce), and even if my stomach is full, I can always make room for the killer scallion pancakes (try the hot mustard sauce with this if you can handle the heat). Their nightly three-course meal deals are quite good and budget-friendly. In a time when going out to eat has taken on a certain element of pretentious and trendy elitism (from organic kitchens to gastropubs to farm-to-fork eateries), The charm of The Double Dragon Inn is like the timeless charm of Cape Cod itself: it's simple, a bit dated, a little weird, but always welcoming and enjoyable. Say what you will about the place, but it's been around for more than four decades, and I suspect it will continue to outlast many Cape Cod eateries and watering holes. And rightly so. read more

Not sure that this is really a Chinese Restaurant or not as most of the typical Chinese dishes are not on the menu. Went there last night and the food was so so at best. Ordered a chicken dish that had a lot of vegetables in it....most of the vegetables were soggy with tasteless gravy (was supposed to be spicy but somehow it got lost in the translation?) and there were minimal amount of small chicken slices in it. Pork fried rice was okay.... Dumplings were okay.... Portions are large, prices are large to for a Chinese Restaurant. Place needs a compete overhaul .... went there but will not go back. Won Ton soup and Hot and Sour soup were both pretty good.... if we ever go back, we would order soup and maybe some appetizers.... read more

How ever if you want to eat at the only chines place that cant make sesame chicken you might want to think about it sigh... tiki bar style chines food. We will not return. The fried wonton chips brought to the table were soggy and stale. When this was mentioned to the server he took them away and replace them with another bowl of soggy stale chips. The beef with bean spouts came minus the bean sprouts. The Som Hop chicken did come with the advertised vegetables in overly large unpalatable chunks, but everything was over-cooked and both dishes came in the same gloppy tasteless sauce. Ye Gods... No. Perhaps they serve crappy canned food in the winter. But this stuff was tasteless, lacked texture, and really was awful. The appetizers were greasy, having sopped up extra fat when prepared. My daughter loves steamed dumplings. These were overthick, industrial grade. The filling was weak. That means a sort of tasteless gunge wrapped in something that reminded me of thick, overcooked lasagna noodles. Nouveau nasty. The entrees just lacked. That means limp and overcooked. No tasty parts. Water chestnuts or bamboo shoots are missing. Soup? Watery. Thinking they just poured the broth from cans. About the only strong point was the view, but n the Cape, that is hardly a selling point. read more

My friend and I decided to finally check this place out, based almost entirely on the name. (Double Dragon, of course, was a Nintendo game we were fond of back in the day.) We invited my parents to join us, and our party of four headed on in to check Orleans' best (and only!) Chinese restaurant. I've heard about 70,000 radio ads for this place in my lifetime, so it kind of felt like I was visiting an old friend, even though I'd never set foot in the place before. Like many places in Orleans, Double Dragon serves as something of a time machine. It's a giant swath of old decor and red vinyl. I'd suggest that the owners were going for retro chic, but I'm pretty confident it's just a case of the owners saying "ah, the hell with it." And you know what? I LOVE it. I may be in the minority, but I find these "classic" Chinese joints to be quite charming. We were placed at a table which got a nice view of the water outside through the window, which was a great touch. (The view was, admittedly, broken up for a bit by what appeared to be a confused delivery truck, but what can you do?) I was surprised to see that the Double Dragon actually had a Polynesian flair, rather than being straight-up Chinese food. There were pineapples everywhere, I tells ya! (The menu did have a more traditional selection in the back, though, for those who just want some lo mein or pork fried rice without all the fuss.) My buddy, though, only had one request after he read the menu: he wanted to see a pineapple get set on fire, and he would not be denied. He ordered the Double Dragon Flambe, and waited for the show to start. Now, I'm not saying it was some kind of amazing pyrotechnical display, but it was still fun to see a half-pineapple full of chicken get set ablaze by flaming sauce. Our waiter, who was a delight, performed the ritual with just the right amount of flair, drawing gazes of appreciation from the other diners nearby. And apparently, it also tasted good, if you're into that kind of thing. My tai chi chicken was also quite good, even if no flame weapons were involved - it wasn't especially spicy, but it was flavorful and really hit the spot. My Dad eagerly devoured his spicy beef dish, and my Mother, as she always does, concentrated on scallion pancakes. Mom judges an entire restaurant on the quality of their pancakes, and these got the thumbs-up from her, so Double Dragon is forever golden in her eyes. By the end, almost all our meals were fully devoured, and we sat with sated smiles. And the bill came to just a hair over sixty bucks, which is a fine deal for four adults out on the town. I can't tell you anything about their drinks or desserts, but we all left quite happy. I waffled between giving the place four or five stars, and then I remembered that the servers wore Hawaiian shirts. So, five stars it is. read more

Let's just get one thing straight right now--the food here is really bad. I'm talking horrible. Don't visit the Double Dragon for the food, okay? Come here for the tiki bar instead. A real, honest-to-goodness tiki bar in a small Cape town? Yes! You can get a zombie or a blue hawaiian or a mai tai, served in a glass that looks like a coconut or a length of bamboo. The huge television over the bar is always on, which sucks, but the drinks are good and the bartender is very sweet. I think you can get regular drinks here too but why would you go to a tiki bar for that? Get a brightly colored concoction in a glass with a hula girl on it and thank me later. read more
