We moved into our perfect home beginning of June and feel extremely let down by Hawksford James…read more Before even discovering the latest problem today, we had to spend thousands on a brand new boiler because it was unliveable showering with the terrible water pressure and scalding hot water problems when moving in. During viewings we specifically pointed out a hole in the ceiling below the en suite and asked our surveyor to double check. Because everything had been patched up on our second visit, I assume it was overlooked. Now, after using the ensuite shower for the second time since moving in, the damp wet patch has emerged in the same place as the hole was poorly patched up, showing there is clearly an ongoing problem that was hidden from us. On four occasions when viewing, we asked Hawksford & James for keys to the garage as this was an important factor in buying the house. On the third viewing we even spent a significant amount of money on a surveyor to inspect the garage, only to be let down again as they didn't have the key. The garage door was in such poor condition it was dangerous and falling apart, forcing us to spend more money installing a brand new one. When using the kitchen sink we discovered the sink pipework is defective. It poured out water and started flooding the kitchen. Luckily we managed to slow it down and currently have to keep a cup under the leak to prevent further damage, but it's only a matter of time before we need to spend more money on a plumber. Looking at the cupboard under the sink, there is clear silicone all around the inside edges, which seems to have been used to trap water in rather than fix the problem properly. Apart from these major issues, we've had several minor issues which are probably expected when purchasing a property so we won't mention them. We do love our home, but every new problem we uncover leaves us more and more frustrated, upset, and depressed. To add to this, the 'SOLD' sign was left outside our home for almost two months since we moved in. We chased a few times and were told it would be removed, but in the end we had to pay someone ourselves to take it away, along with bulky items that had been left dumped in the loft. We also only found out just days before exchange, there is an estate charge attached to the property, something never mentioned in the listing and still with no clear explanation from the agents. As lovely as they were when showing us the house, the aftercare and honesty about the property have been extremely poor. We are truly disappointed, and based on our experience, I would strongly think twice before using Hawksford James when purchasing a property. I didn't expect when moving in we would be spending thousands to fix problems that were hidden in a fairly new build house.
