Hard to believe this is a Doubletree by Hilton. Property is old and disrepair. Rooms are dirty and not well-maintained. We booked through a package with rock the south could not get housekeeping or clean towels during our stay finally checked out a day early and moved hotels.

    Bathroom

This hotel did not live up to the Doubletree name in any way except the price. It was quite high for what you get. The wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom, there was dirt around the edges of the floor, and the toilet paper holder was broken. The housekeeping service is nearly non-existent. If you need more towels, which you do because they don't put enough in your room for the number of guests, you have to walk through the odd hotel layout to get them yourself...they're not bringing them to your room. The pool was not running when we went in there and there was a film over the top of the water. The staff was mostly friendly but more than once they were very preoccupied with what was happening on their computer screens and took time to acknowledge us. I do not recommend this hotel.

Nasty hotel ...room had bed bugs...dude in charge was completely a jerk about it ...refused to admit any fault

It's kinda hard to explain. Hotel looks really nice, but then if you look closely, there are issues like shower door handles broken off, completely unable to use the plugs to charge anything because your block falls out (extremely loose), giant stain on the chair that looks like someone did something that I don't even want to think about, ice machine didn't work on the 3rd floor... But I guess the biggest disappointment was that we paid for a riverfront view and yeah, we got it but... I guess that's what we get for not studying a map closely, because our riverfront view was mostly AC units with the river WAY off in the distance. (See pic attached). I mean, it was fine for what we needed, restaurant was really good (5 star review for them), but overall not really up to our normal Hilton experience. Meh.

View of the river from my room.

Upping score to three stars as the hotel manager credited me back for one of my two nights plus my additional expenses. The staff really tries hard to make your stay nice, but the property needs some TLC. When we checked in for a two night stay in a fifth floor river view room, we found that the a/c made an irritating noise that would have made sleep impossible. We were moved to the second floor where our view was of the a/c units on the roof of the conference rooms. On our second night one of the conference rooms hosted a concert that was much louder than the irritating a/c unit. In all my time as a Hilton Diamond member, this has to be worst hotel stay I've ever experienced!

    Hole on the wall

When I checked in, I saw there were some renovations going on and this hotel definitely needs it. When I went into the room I noticed the carpet looked dirty, there was a hole in the wall... and seriously a hotel chain this big does not have a maintenance person who can put a toilet paper holder on the wall? And not only that the roll that was placed on the broken holder was not enough for 2 people for 2 days. There were not any additional rolls in the bathroom. When I pulled the chair desk out there was a rolled up dirty sock. That is when I went down to request a new room. I travel 95% off the time and pretty much live in hotels. As a top tier level (Diamond with Hilton and Titanium Elite with Marriott) for the major hotel chains I was very disappointed. I even had some billing issues with this chain that had to be fixed afterwards as well. I will be back in the area for business in a few weeks and will choose a different hotel.

Ate lunch last week in Twist during Eagles convention. Quesadilla was outstanding! Food was out in less than 15 minutes. Service was great.

Having never been to Alabama, I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by my stay here. Star #1: Upon arrival, Summer, the sweet front desk woman greeted me with a smile. Although she was on the phone with another customer, she happily greeted me, checked me in and sent me on my way! I saw her multiple times throughout my time at the hotel and she was always friendly and sweet. Star #2: Rooms are newly renovated with updated electronics, large in size, clean, offer a small kitchen space (micro, Keurig and fridge) and have the best damn beds to date. I booked my trip last minute in Feb, which yielded a room with two queen beds, but king rooms are also available. Another pro - the rooms cool down fast when blasting the AC, which I greatly appreciated after being in the humid Alabama air. Star #3: The hotel boasts a wide variety of amenities (pool, hot tub, outdoor patio, free WIFI, gym with both free weights and cardio equipment), it's the complimentary breakfast buffet that had me at hello! Each morning (starting at 5:30AM), the hotel staff prepares the most delicious offerings for breakfast! Every palette will be happy as everything under the sun is offered here - think fresh biscuits, eggs, waffles, bagels, yogurt, and more! Although, with COVID in full force, I'm sure things are different. Star #4: I was not privy to the rental car - as my coworker used it frequently for additional tasks - so I was happy to see a handful of surrounding businesses nearby for me to venture to! A liquor store, Logan's Roadhouse (similar to Texas Roadhouse) and a Dollar General (which literally has EVERYTHING) are directly across the street, making me a happy girl to get out of the hotel room, stock up on some wine and snacks before relaxing back at the hotel. Although this doesn't seem to be leadership's hotel of choice, but when visiting Decatur again, I will definitely stay here!

Though the manager that greated me was not overly so and didn't recognize me as a Spire elite. Perhaps she was just caught up in what she had to do for the day or too busy.

Conveniently Located Downtown Hotel…read more I recently stayed in the Fairfield Inn and Suites in downtown Decatur while in the area for business. The hotel rooms were reasonably priced and centrally located. If you are travelling for business, this hotel makes sense as it is relatively new and has many amenities that a business traveller would want. The gym is large and fully equipped for a good workout as it offers multiple options for cardio, including exercise bikes, treadmills, a rower and elipticals, combined with a universal, free weights and kettlebells. The hotel also had a medium-sized pool and a lounge area for swimmers and parents to watch their kids. The rooms are the newer Fairfield style with modern amenities. I had a standard king room with enough room to lay out my yoga mat and easily store my suitcases. The room was clean, the bathrooms were clean, the wifi was easy to connect to and I had plenty of outlets for charging my devices. The lobby is spacious, with enough room for a mix of couples, individuals, and groups to hang out. The breakfast has enough seating, and the free breakfast offers hot and cold choices that can accommodate most diets. Parking is tricky, and I suggest unloading your bags when you check in or register. There is some limited street parking and a parking structure in the back of the hotel. Please note that you have to take your bags and walk them to the hotel from every level of the garage. The garage has no elevator, just stairs. I had to roll my suitcases to the staircase, lift them over a curb and then carry them down a flight of stairs. The other options are wheeling them from where you park and down the ramos and then to the back entrance of the hotel. Alternatively, there is a small area with posts blocking the alley where you can unload from as well. Overall, I had a great stay, and the hotel was central to all the places I needed to go.

But this one was ridiculous. The little bar sink was dripping. We don't know where the water was coming from. That night we could hear the constant drip, drip, drip. I wasn't going to wake my husband up at 3AM. He was the one driving us home that next morning. We told the manager who was vacuuming the floors about it and he wouldn't even turn off the vacuum in order to hear my husband talking when we checked out the woman behind the desk said sorry. You should have called us and we could have put you in a different room. I said if it was 10PM maybe but not at 3AM. I said I think you should refund me 1/2 the cost, since we paid $200 for the room. She looked at me like I was speaking Greek. Just said I'm Sorry and gave me a dirty look. Never again Best Western. Never again.

I think they are rebranding yet again - was it sold? - but for now, it's just Decatur Inn. And they are "renovating". But man, they probably shouldn't be hosting anyone in the meantime if our stay was any indication. The furniture was beaten up to the point where "abuse" is the best descriptor. Our room door looked like it had been pounded by a battering ram. The rooms were painfully porous, so we heard our neighbors more than we could hear ourselves. The bright side? Very courteous service. Maybe all the pieces are in place to turn this guy around. But for one lovely evening in April, this was a corner of human sadness. Keep plugging, Decatur people. The carpet in the room is extremely dirty, stains all over the carpet, it is disgusting, filthy. It really needs to be deep cleaned or replaced. And it is not only the room where I was, but also other rooms. I took a look at several other rooms and the carpet was as disgusting and filthy as in my room. I needed to have my shoes on all the time. Also, the refrigerator does not close properly and when I went to get water in the morning, it was not cold because of the problem. In addition, after showering, a good amount of water always stays in the bathtub floor. The mattress as well as the pillows are hard, the bed sheets have stains. The decorative throw across the end of the mattress is stained and has holes on it. The door to the room has to be slammed in order to close it. Otherwise, the door will stay unlocked. Also, the bags they have as a gift for members are just decorations. They don't give them to anyone, even to the members with the highest status. Also, if you go to eat breakfast 30 minutes before closing time, you will not eat any eggs because once what they have for breakfast is gone, it is gone! If the milk they have for breakfast is gone, they do not replenish milk neither. They do not replenish anything. Anything that is gone, they never replenish it. The TV is small and is located on top of a very low chest, difficult to watch from the bed. Also, one of the towels has a very nasty smell. I had to go and change it for another one. The desk chair does not rise all the way as it is supposed to; so I couldn't use it to work at the desk. The room chair arms are nasty. I had to cover them with something else to be able to use the chair. On a positive note, the employees are friendly, the location appears to be in a safe place and the room is big but with a very poor layout. I definitely will not give this place a rating of 4.2. No, no, it is not that good. It is just an average or below average hotel. The hotel is very outdated.

This was accompanied by visible mold on the walls near the beds and in the bathroom. The fire alarm looked as if someone tried to rip it out of the wall unsuccessfully, and it, too, was covered in mold. The bathroom metal rails were rusted from the humidity. If it hadn't been so late when we retired for the night, we would have left. It was not a good night's sleep, and in retrospect, we should have left. There was no getting used to the smell, and I put a towel over my nose to filter it in order to sleep. Unfortunately, the towel smelled musty too.
