((I've never done a reverse review like this, but...)) Is this lighthouse very, very cool? Yes. One of the coolest, I think. Should you visit it? No. Please don't. I'm writing this as a local -- and maybe the owners feel differently -- but this lighthouse is located on completely private property and it feels invasive to come check it out. You have to drive up a windy, bumpy, camp-like, enough-space-for-one-car dirt road to get here. When you arrive, you're literally pulling into someone's driveway. Yes, there are exactly three spots off to the left that visitors can park in. And yes, there's a little sign that points to the direction of the lighthouse, so they're used to visitors. But: you have to literally walk past someone's house (where people really live; when we came, there was a teenage boy working on something on their porch) and through their backyard to get to the lighthouse. We only stayed for a few minutes because we felt so awkward (and bad) that we were essentially hanging out at a stranger's house; maybe tourists don't feel this way, but Mainers kind of like to be left alone and it just didn't feel right to do more than check it out and leave. The point? There is absolutely no reason for you to come here when there are plenty of other lighthouses in Maine you can visit without disturbing someone's personal life. ((Info about the spot: it's an octagonal tower that was built in 1898 and is one of Maine's river lighthouses as it's located on the Kennebec. There's a long pier out to the lighthouse; it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988)).

    Nice little lighthouse
