I generally love being outside, and I love yardwork. Recently, though, I've found myself in a position where I'd much rather spend my weekends doing other things. I won't name names, but I had several other places turn me down for the work we needed done. Actually, only one of the competitors showed up. He took one look at the road to get here, and said "no." I get it. This is not an easy yard to maintain. It's in the woods, on a mountain, and it is impossible to mow (you MUST weed whack). On top of that, the yard and gutters collect a lot of debris from the trees, and it would take me many weekends to clear that myself. I found myself behind Doug's truck the other day, and I had to give him a call (admittedly out of desperation). I was greeted by his daughter, and I basically told her "I need help." Doug showed up the next day (early, which I always appreciate). I showed him what I wanted done, and he gave me a quote and a date on the spot. He was back bright and early exactly on schedule to get Nick to work, and let me make this very clear: that guy gets it done. On the second day he had some help with the backyard, and they were great too. Gutters, tree-trimming, weed-whacking, yard clean-up--they did it all (and I know they do more). Horrible work & communication. Please don't waste your money. Do not know what they are doing.

If I could give this company a 0 star I would. His daughter posted that her dad needed work and he didn't post on Facebook or text, something like that. I dealt with her to set it up. He seemed ok. I knew his quote was a little low, but I would have paid more if he did a good job. Right from the start, he never showed up on time. Had excuses every time. His truck starter went or he had other jobs to quote. Kept insisting on coming at 8 am, but never did. Around 10:30 am, his wife would call with an excuse. He and his son showed up one day I think it was. They painted around the areas that needed repaired on the ceiling. Missed spots. Got paint all over the wood floors. Didn't clean it up. My contractor for my renovations was watching and he thought they were doing a bad job. I fired him. He wife got nasty and he got nasty. I offered to pay him something and he threw out a high number, considering that he hadn't done much. My contractor suggested a lower amount. Doug was yelling at me for firing him. I told him he was being disrespectful. He said I was. I told him it is my house and no one yells at me in my house. He kept on. I wrote him a check and he screamed that if the check was no good he would put a lean on my house. I wouldn't have offered to pay him if I wouldn't honor the check. I yelled at him to get out of my house. He wasn't licensed or insured when I first hired him. I felt I was giving him a chance but he didn't think showing up to do my job mattered. Yelled at me and told me I only hired him because he was gave me a low quote. That was not true. I would never hire this man again. Never. He was getting license and insurance the week I hired him because others he was quoting for wanted him to be licensed and insured. I was trying to help him get started by hiring him. His raising his voice and yelling at me when he wasn't showing up and was doing a terrible job. He showed he had zero professionalism. He said he was in the business world for 25 years and that he didn't realize I was in a hurry for my job to be done. It's just that when he said I'll be there at 8 am and didn't call to change that, and no one contacted before 9:30 the one day, 10:30 another day, how is that considerate or professional? No I do not recommend, based on how he treated me, and I stand by firing him and I would not hire again. My opinion. read more
