My daughter came by for Fathers Day and brought over some delicious donuts from this specialty shop in Babylon. The donuts were visually mouthwatering and decorated so beautifully!! Wanted to check out this place as everyone seems to rave about their other location in Lynbrook. I like something sweet once in awhile so why not come to Doughology? It was packed for a late Sunday morning and I was perusing the menu while waiting. The decor is simple, and cute. I like the beakers of sprinkles and other toppings - simple and fun. I opted for the cannoli, oreo, glazed and sugar. By far, I preferred the glazed. Simple, sweet, good texture and though I didn't have coffee today it would have made a nice pairing. I also liked the cannoli but it was very, very sweet. Granted, it's two desserts in one but the sugar level on this is extremely high. I didn't care so much for the cinnamon as it was very doughy, too chewy for my taste. Almost like it was under baked - could have used another minute or two. I didn't try the oreo, but my mom said it was good. I came back here a second time just for a glazed and this time it was sweeter than last. Also, I was asked if I wanted a chocolate or vanilla glazed - this wasn't asked the first time I came and this is not stated on the menu so one would assume there isn't an option for vanilla or chocolate. Additionally, there is a sign near the register that those who pay cash will pay the reflected menu pricing and if you use your debit/charge then you will incur a fee. As a consumer, this is annoying - if I don't have enough "dough" on me, I'm punished. I do love a good donut, but ones loaded with all the bells and whistles tend to be overly sweet for my taste. The signature donuts here? Amazing. It really seems like the folks at Doughology have nailed the balance in flavors, so their donuts are tasty and indulgent without being sickening. I picked up an assortment earlier today, but the Peanut Butter Cup and Samoa were our favorites. The simple donuts were great too. Doughology has just about mastered the science of a good donut! I've heard people rave about this place for years and finally decided to stop by while in town. There was ample parking available and the shop appeared super clean. I was greeted immediately upon entering and given time to browse the menu. The menu consisted of waffles, a 'donut bar' where you could design your own donuts, different donut creations, or signature donuts if you didn't feel like inventing any yourself. There was also a variety of iced and hot coffee beverages, and a refrigerator with different drinks by the bottle. As a first timer I didn't feel like being creative so I decided to get a 1/2 dozen of the signature donuts. I tried the s'more (chocolate donut with graham cracker, chocolate drizzle and marshmallows), Samoa (donut with chocolate frosting, toasted coconut and caramel drizzle, cinnamon bun (donut with cinnamon flavored frosting), French toast, churro (cinnamon sugar donuts with creme sandwiched between them and caramel drizzle) and caramel apple crumb. All the donuts were good, but rather dense and as they mostly all consisted of the same base donut they tasted somewhat similar. The churro donut seemed a bit lighter and 'fluffier' if that makes sense. They were all tasty, but I just felt like they were missing something within the donut itself. I also tried a sea salt caramel coffee; the sign had said it was a flavored coffee so I assumed it was just a brewed flavored coffee, but it tasted like there was syrup or other additives and there was caramel drizzle. Don't get me wrong, the coffee was good but kinda too sweet for my liking and just not what I had been expecting. In addition, the smallest size they had was a 16oz and I would've preferred a smaller one. All in all, I'd recommend giving them a try if you're in the area but I don't think it's necessary to travel out of your way for them...unless of course they have a special flavor of the day you're desiring to try! read more

Tale of the same tape: Blueberry Pancake Donut Blueberry pancake donut dipped in maple glaze, topped with what I presume is their homemade crumbs, drizzled with vanilla sauce/frosting. This was a special donut, not part of their regular menu but written on the wall behind the checkout counter. The crunchy crumb top layer contrasted well with the soft, somewhat light donut. Peanut Butter Cup Donut Chocolate frosted chocolate donut with a crumbled Reese's peanut butter cup on top, drizzled with chocolate and peanut butter sauces. Oddly, the peanut butter crumble gets lost in the not-so-chocolatey chocolate components. S'mores Donut Chocolate frosted chocolate donut with a crumbled graham cracker and mini marshmallows on top, drizzled with chocolate sauce. The soft marshmallows and crunchy crumbs make for a good combination of textures. Notes Doughology's concept is intriguing, and the owner's story, as told on their website, is compelling. However, in my opine the execution is somewhat lacking. The process: several orders are taken, then all personnel set about to fulfill them, leaving those on line to wait about 10 minutes until their orders are taken. There must be a better way to streamline this procedure in order to get the line moving faster. In my experience it took over 20 minutes until I received my three donuts, and I was fourth or fifth in line. The product: also lacking, as generally speaking the donuts were rather bland. I went here for the first time a little while ago and fell in LOVE. I got about 10 doughnut holes and a dozen doughnuts for one holiday and the price was great! When I brought it to my sisters house, everyone loved them. What I loved was the fact that the doughnut holes were big enough where you could cut them in half. The staff was great too. I feel bad leaving a poor review because the girls working the counter were so kind and helpful... but compared to a lot of the other doughnut places on Long Island (Grindstone, NOCO put this place to *shame*) these just didn't taste fresh or generally very good at all. I worked in bakeries for years as a teenager and I can promise you these did not feel or taste fresh to me. I'm sure for some maybe this location is convenient, and the doughnuts look aesthetic and thus this spot is viewed as good. The Instagram totally catfished me too... but these weren't worth more than 1 bite worth of calories. The cinnamon bun frosting was so thick and strong with cinnamon it almost ended up chalky and bitter. The lemon doughnut had definitely been frosted a day prior- and the churro doughnut being filled and topped with whipped cream just didn't make much sense to me. Churro dipping sauce is typically a thicker syrupy molasses type energy so I as expecting that type of filling -- just all around unimpressive. We got the chocolate donut and velvet donut and had all sorts of toppings and it was delicious. The spot also makes coffee but i don't drink coffee so i wouldn't know how it is. We asked for tea and it was just hot water with a Lipton teabag when we came which was in winter. I waited outside with one other customer... at 9:02 they unlocked the door and walked away. Like, really? Can't open the door and say hi or let us in. Doughology is an adorable donut shop in Babylon with friendly cashiers. Came by with a girlfriend while in town and we were blown away by the selection they had. It actually was a struggle figuring out which ones we wanted.. we wanted them all! These are cake like donuts and are super moist with rich frosting. I was lucky to find street parking really close to the store! After finding street parking, while walking up to the store I realized there was a small parking lot in front of the store. I walked inside and the place looked really nice, bright, clean and organized. The place was also a bit decorated for the holidays. I figured that there would be limited options since I was coming in so close to closing. I saw in their display case they had 4 kinds of donuts, so I got once of each. I also saw they had donut holes with sprinkles and speciality coffees. I'll have to try the donut holes another day, they looked really good. I'm curious about their speciality coffees too. I LOVE sweets but there was no way I was schlepping all the way to Lynbrook to try Doughology so I was so happy to have one much closer. We went in last Saturday night and there was still a bit of a line. We looked around and got the concept that the doughnuts are custom made. Heaven!! The girl behind the counter was very good. Staff was busy but we got our doughnuts pretty fast. My favorite was the s'mores-just delicious. I'll take any excuse to go to Babylon village and this is just an added bonus. So good!! First off, this is not the fault of the business, but you should know that parking here is atrocious. To their credit, they do donut drops to Patchogue and I should have taken advantage of that, but I chose to make the drive. The staff at Doughology was very nice, but upon walking in, I found the store to be place cluttered and dirty. In the cooler with the drinks, there were boxes of who knows what and the drinks were falling over. They have a toppings bar where you can customize your donut (similar to a froyo place) and there was a fly roaming around the area. To be clear, there was no infestation and one fly is probably not going to make or break your experience. The flavor of donuts has that covered on its own. I was excited because I have seen how good these donuts look on social media, but beauty doesn't translate to flavor here unfortunately. My family opted for six donuts: churro, raspberry cheesecake, peanut butter cup, s'mores, Oreo, and fruity pebbles. Raspberry cheesecake was definitely the best of the batch. Sadly, the rest were bland and mediocre at best. At $14 for six donuts, I expected a lot better. I do not recommend and will not be returning. read more
