Gary was fantastic and so professional. He met us at the cruse port as soon as we got off the ship. We talked and ask what we wanted to see. He showed us all over Dover in places where bus can't go. He took us to the tops and bottom of the white cliffs. He also took us to the light houses and his favorite pub for lunch. We so much enjoyed ourselves with Gary. We would highly recommend him for any of your tour needs.

After a lot of research, we contacted Horizon, which exceeded all our expectations. Communication was excellent from start to finish: Gary clearly cared about what we wanted to see and do, and after a flurry of emails we decided to book a day tour of Leeds Castle, Canterbury, and Dover Castle. Great decision! From the time he picked us up at our hotel until he dropped us off in the evening, we had a great time. Gary is very thoughtful as well as very knowledgeable about the history and culture of each area we visited. He made sure we were comfortable, stopped as needed, and were well hydrated and fed. He brought each place to life. Unlike other tours, where our primary guide dropped us off at stops where there was a required resident guide or docent, Gary stayed with us, guiding us to the best places to stand and providing extra information where needed. He made sure the tour and sights were at our pace and that we saw everything we hoped to see. Absolutely excellent. Horizon also does airport transfers and collects people from cruise boats for tours. I recommend this company highly; we could not have had a better time.

We contacted Karen at Whitfield Cars in Dover about doing a 3-hour private tour of the area prior to boarding our ship. Karen provided reasonable rates, was very helpful, answered all my questions and we arranged for Mick to pick the 4 of us up at the train station. The tour was exceptional and very informative at which point we were dropped off directly in front of the main door to board the ship. Mick was born in the Dover area and is extremely personable, providing a tour of primary areas with a strong knowledge of the history and key historical sites. I would highly recommend Whitfield Cars for their professionalism, booking process and highly enjoyable and informative tour. It was such a great start to our transatlantic journey!

Let me first say, that I travel quite often for business/pleasure and I have NEVER had an…read moreexperience like I did at the Dover Marina. My family and I were going on a cruise that was disembarking through Dover, England. We checked reviews on the Dover Marina and it seemed as though it would be a decent choice. We booked 6 months prior to our stay and checked on our reservation at least 3 times up until the point. After a 10 hour flight and 2 hours in the tube/train, we arrive exhausted and ready for a nap at the Dover Marina. The manager then tells us that they had "Issues" with some of the rooms and we no longer have a room. Our entire family had already arrived and were given rooms. They also made sure to notify the lobby that we were coming in late. That didn't seem to matter. They said that they booked us at a "comparable" hotel "just up the road". It turned out to be about 10 miles away and was a room above a pub in the middle of nowhere. I truly doubt that costed the 200 pounds that we paid. We had to return to the Dover Marina after our cruise since our flight was so early. We checked with them numerous times to confirm that we had a room and had early check in. They said we did. Of course, upon arrival...no early check in and no promised upgrade for the hassle. Our room was on the 4th floor and was so slanted that I literally rolled off the bed. Not only that, but they failed to mention that there would a full choir practicing from 1pm to 9pm on the balcony of the hotel and music blasting out of the towers of speakers placed outside. The manager of the hotel at the time had absolutely no remorse for these mistakes and refused to deal with us. We thought that they overbooking was just a one time thing, but we saw this happen to other guests on our return visit. They were overbooked 15 minutes after check in time!! Ridiculous!! This was the worst hotel experience I have ever encountered and I would recommend you book elsewhere to ensure you actually have a room when you arrive!

Buyers beware - Single-day validity & de-prioritized entry!…read moreI purchased the all-inclusive Go City pass for a family of four for £357, which claims access to 107 London attractions. My mistake was missing the fine print - the pass is valid for one calendar day only, not even 24 hours. On Day 1, we tried Westminster Abbey at 1:30 PM but were turned away as they prioritized direct ticket holders over reseller passes like Go City. We managed to get on the London Eye at 5:30 PM, but on Day 2, at 9:00 AM at the Tower of London, we learned the pass had already expired! How can anyone visit more than 1-2 attractions in a single day, let alone 107? Spending £357 felt like throwing money down the drain. Some attractions even de-prioritize entry for reseller tickets like Go-City, as we experienced. You're better off booking directly with attractions rather than dealing with these misleading resellers.
