Legit Australian food. Home made by good people!!! A must stop!!

The food here is phenomenal!!! When they say Australian meat pies the mean it! Homemade just like I used to get all the time growing up in Australia. Perfect food for on the road or at home. Get the ANZAC cookies. Homemade and as good as can be. No way you can stop at one! The Australian chocolates are great as well. Skip the same old same old food and do yourself a favor by getting some tastey homemade food at a great price. The couple working there are some of the nicest people you will meet on your drive.

This was a neat find along rhe highway. There is an eclectic supply of items that most people will love. The owner was really nice and I got a good deal on some figures. Parking is along rhe highway so be careful. read more

Emmalee (owner) is friendly and very welcoming. I've been there several times and the selection of treasures is ever-changing. If she doesn't have it, she will find it. The business is still open but will close when the highway expansion starts. read more

Stopped by here today. Needed to get out of Austin for a bit. It's only an hour up the road :). The meat pies are amazing. This is my second stop by here and it won't be my last. Emmalee is the host and she's a fair dinkum Aussie and a sweetheart too! Loaded up with some Aussie snacks and frozen pies and headed on my way home again. It won't be so long between visits next time. True taste of home read more

Yeah, this place is amazing. If you're Australian, have been to Australia, or just like...good food, this place is worth the drive. A huge, exciting surprise for the Aussie in my life - he couldn't believe how good it was. We frequented Boomerang's for years, and while everything was fine, he still thought there was something distinctly American about the flavor profile and spices. This is where you go if you want a REAL Australian pie. Simple, tasty, and best eaten with ketchup. The original is all we tried (and took home a dozen frozen!), but we're looking forward to branching out and trying a few more next time we visit. The service is awesome, and the people running this are SUPER warm. If you know anyone from Australia, bring them - there's a bit of a discount. Planning on going back monthly - can't wait! read more

This was originally an accidental stop. However, after one taste of the meat pies, we are hooked! They are so delicious! The ANZAC biscuits are absolutely wonderful as well! They are chewy little bits of goodness! To top all of this off, they are the sweetest people I have EVER met! She has such a sweet disposition and is absolutely adorable. He is just as kind and hospitable as she is. Together they are wonderful and friendly people! Every chance I have to go through Adamsville, I will make it a point to stop in and get some meat pies and ANZAC biscuits!! This place is a must stop!!!!!! read more

At first glance, this appears to be nothing more than a modern day "Sanford and Son" junk yard with the free world's supply of wrought iron art and rusty old vehicles for sale out front. But negotiate your way thru this dazzling maze into the tiny café in back, and prepare your olfactory to be smacked hard... by the original and savory aroma of these made-fresh-daily delicacies, aka Aussie meat pies. Really? Who knew? AND, they taste even better than they smell. Combine all this with young proprietor Emmalee and her right-off-the-boat genuine Australian accent and you'll think you're in heaven, talkin' to an angel. Indeed, I think she just might be. Lastly, be careful not to blink when looking for this place and when ya find it, please don't tell Guy Fieri. If ya do, it's likely the cars to get here'll be lined down US 281 all the way back to Lampasas. And that's about 17 miles... Scott H. read more

Outstanding meat pies! We drove up to check them out today after seeing them last week on the road to Dallas. They taste just like the family-owned bakery pies back home in Australia. We bought a bunch to take home and freeze, and also bought some Aussie chocolates. The owners are super nice and friendly, too. Good conversation and very welcoming. Highly recommended! read more

Gabe and Emma Lee who own the Down Unda Trading Post are wonderful young people with fabulous personalities, smiles and positive attitudes. Their first and foremost priority is always their customers. They have wonderful and antique items for-sale; including antique and vintage vehicles. Emily makes the best Assuie meat pies in Texas (I truly enjoy the Chunky, when I am able to drive thru). Also her biscuit's are a wonderful treat too!!! There dream is to have the community come together and sell their items in a building. Thank you Gabe and Emily for all you do for the Adamsville community... You both are deeply appreciated. read more

Love this place! Em and Gabe are so nice and are always welcoming. Great place to stop for Dublin Bottling Co Sodas, and Em's Aussie Meat pies. They have lots of collectibles, and fun things for your garden, back-porch, and yard, whiskey barrels, rustic furniture and lots of stuff to re-purpose! They are open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and very popular. Located on Hwy.281, between Lampasas and Evant. A must to visit!!! read more

From the outside it looks a bit junky. However as an Australian living in Texas I can attest to the taste of the old country. Run by a lade from Coffs Harbour who makes her own pies daily, there is a ton of Australian country charm. We had exceptional meat pies Great service Lots of goodies from Australia that are flown in and not available in the US. Including snakes and Tim Tams. A must do stop on this road in the middle of nowhere Texas read more

We've been meaning to call in for a couple of years. Finally got the chance today and it was so worth it. Great meat pies, wonderful conversation and a treasure chest of pre loved conversation pieces. Don't drive past it, stop on in, say g'day and enjoy a pie. Based on reviews we stopped in today and I'm happy Pies were amazing. We had mushroom and chunky beef. Had a cookie also that fit my not so sweet tooth to perfection. They sell the pies frozen so got a dozen to take home. Will be a regular stop for this foodie on every trip to Dallas. Great funky spot. read more

This place is a Hill Country gem. Emma Lee is the charismatic and inviting owner. An Aussie now living in Texas, she has created a great little "trading post" just 10 minutes north of Lampasas on 281 in Adamsville. They sell home-made authentic Australian meat pies that are truly delicious. She also carries hard-to-find English and Australian chocolates as well as a variety of novelty vintage sodas. Don't be deceived by the slightly rough exterior of the building, it's worth stopping in for the food. I stop there every time I pass this place. Do it now before this place truly gets "discovered." You can even take your pies to go! read more
