This is the bright second floor. Be sure to check out the man-operated elevator to get up here.

This was my first visit to the new permanent indoor location for the Downtown Farmer's Market. It's just a block or so from the original location across from Canada Place. I've enjoyed this market for years when it was outside on 104th street but for Edmonton it's better to be indoors. The first things I noticed were all of the wonderful smells from fresh baking and spices. Next I noticed the abundance of natural light. Those big windows in the old but refurbished Army & Navy Building really brighten everything up. It wasn't crowded but that's probably because January is a slow month for markets in general. Before we even finished exploring the first floor I noticed an interesting and large elevator. I quickly rounded up the rest of my group and we filed into the man-operated elevator. This was super cool because it has all those old sliding gates that you see in movies set in old buildings in New York or other large cities, a feature that my university aged daughter really enjoyed. At this point I had to admit that I remember man-operated elevators from when I was a little boy: I must be getting old. The second floor had more foods and prepared meals with lots of free samples. There was live entertainment on the first floor but I don't recall if the second floor also had entertainment. I did see lots of chairs so customers can rest up with a meal, a coffee or just visit for a while. We took the elevator back down to the first floor, even though there were large open stairs nearby, because it was just fun to experience this old type of lift and share the experience with others. Eventually our bags got heavier and our wallets got lighter so it was time to go. I know that we will definitely be back, although not every weekend. The new Bountiful Market on the south side is much handier for us. This New Downtown Farmer's Market will be a great amenity for the eastern edge of downtown and the Quarters District. I highy recommend it.

The best local businesses in Edmonton strut their stuff here. A must see! The biggest, widest selection of local businesses, from organic farming to fresh baking, hand made crafts and clothing. This market has it all. Permanent businesses on 104st are also high calibre. A pleasant rarity in our little city!

Love farmers markets! The freshness! The full tastiness!…read more So raw! So delicious! So many neat stands/home businesses that it still blows my mind And I'm super glad this is one of the few that are open year-round, but obviously summer is the bestest Very convenient location in the Strathcona area, at the heart of a ton of festivals and events and random day items. You can shop for just about everything here which is great! I like this location over downtown with having more available parking in the vicinity. *My favourite place here is the Steve & Dans BC fruits always got nummy things ready to eat and some other new items they've recently created (You have to go check them out to find out lol ) Also the kettle corn stand outside the building is fantastic! Love love the bags of crunchy tasty fluffed popcorns drizzled in sweetness I still drive all the way from Sherwood Park to this market because I enjoy it so much, and some of the people at particular stands are such great characters

The farmers market itself isn't as large, however the area around had many other art vendors, food vendors, and other things to see. Luckily we came on Saturday, which is the day that the farmers market is open. They had many vendors which was very crowded and busy. They had vendors for all sorts of things from fruit, cheese, two flowers, two meats, two others as well. It's definitely something interesting to take a look at if you're not used to seeing many farmers markets. What made it especially cool was that they had a large variety of things to try what you could snack on, or even take home. It was free to go so is really cool to just take a look around and see what they had to offer. However it was difficult to find parking as it was busy, and street and parking itself was very limited.
