It has everything we love when visiting the Oregon coast...beach…read moreaccess, fresh seafood, lovely house rentals with ocean views, walkable trails, and cute little souvenir shops to peruse. The only thing it doesn't have is a gas station. Nearest one is 8 miles north on highway 101 in Waldport. Highlights include the Yachats State Park and Recreation Site. Great views with a viewing platform, tide pools to explore, restrooms, and plenty of parking. Many grab a bite in town and come here to eat it with a gorgeous view. Good eats include Luna Sea Fish House, LeRoy's Blue Whale, and Ona Restaurant & Lounge. Topper's is a great place for salt water taffy, ice cream, and handmade fudge and chocolates. If you're looking for rental properties, Sweet Homes is a great company to work with. We've used them a few times and have always been happy with pricing, amenities and correspondence. There's also a post office, Dollar General and C & K Market for last minute items. Overall, one of our favorite coastal towns to visit. Not crowded like more popular beach towns. A perfect place to relax and rewind. Highly recommend.

If you're looking for an event space in Yachats, odds are there will be a space in this building that can accommodate you. Please be aware though, that if you have any questions whatsoever throughout the process of scouting, securing a reservation, and planning for your event, the coordinator will be nearly impossible to reach and likely will not return your call. (This is why I can only give the space 3 stars overall) This review comes from someone who works for an event space, so I truly know how busy a role like this can be, however, when numerous phone calls with questions about the space go unanswered, and community members see my pleas for help on Facebook, that was the only way I was able to get quite simple information that a return phone call would have taken maybe 2 minutes of time. I finally bit the bullet and rented the place sight unseen, hopeful it would work for our event (and it did). Prior to our arrival, I did get the coordinator on the phone to discuss arrival time and location, however she forgot this arrangement and called me the day before our arrival to confirm erroneous details, which I had to remind her of. She then was 15 minutes late to meet up, which set our schedule for the day behind from the get-go. No instructions were given about clean up other than someone would be by to weigh the trash(?), and that person did not ever show up. After the event, 10 days went by before I called to inquire about the refund of our security deposit. I was told by the coordinator it had been issued, so I called my bank, confirming they did not have anything pending on their end. While on the phone with my bank, a receipt was sent via email showing the refund had just THEN, that morning, been initiated. It finally cleared the bank 2 weeks after our event. Perhaps the coordinator is going through a difficult season of life that makes necessary communication less than ideal, but prospective renters should be aware that if you aren't a local organization with a standing reserved room or a "regular" it seems like customer service is not prioritized.

THE SETUP There are so many Thai and Mexican restaurants to enjoy (our favorite cuisines right now) that are reasonably priced. Voodoo Donuts is always a fun stop to grab a baker's dozen of some pretty special Choco-Peanut donut masterpieces to take back home with us. Nos. 4-7 stare at each other with icky faces, and when all have returned with Purelled hands, we stand in a circle next to one of the cars. Quiet. Awkward. We jump from face to face and then stare at our shoes. The other car, with its door open, and we listen to Stevie Nicks. A tan and perky lady walks by...she's inevitably going to share the germ-invested fate of 1-3. "How's the Honey Bucket?" she asks, and laughs. "Well," says No. 4, "it's always better with Fleetwood Mac."

Where do I start... First the scenery is amazing. No matter where you're going you are so close to…read morethe coast that is so beautiful. Then of course there are the Oregon Dunes. Where you can arrange a quad or a buggy and be a kid again. It's on the pricey though so budget for it. Of course there's the lighthouse that's just outside of Florence . I can't remember the name of it , but I'm sure. You can find it easy. It's definitely worth a visit. There are so many cool restaurants and shops in old downtown. And of course, you know it, we did find the pickleball courts in Florence and played there.

We recently found a hotel at great rates and keep coming back to this little town with a big heart. We're abto hit up the Sea Hag for some breakfast and "World Famous Bloody Mary's. " probably a nap after that. Trust me. A belly fool of food + a couple world's famous bloody Mary's and the sound of the ocean = sleepy time.

We looked for a place to eat first since we were so hungry. We found a Thai restaurant along the U.S. 101 Highway. We passed by the "The World's Smallest Harbor" and we meant to come back to check it out after our lunch but we completely forgot. I got distracted from seeing the cute little stores along the highway. Depoe Bay is not a stranger to Hollywood. Some movie locations were filmed here like from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (fishing trip scenes) and a restaurant scene in the movie The Burning Plain (with Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence and Kim Basinger)... Across the highway in the downtown area towards the ocean is a sea wall but it was getting too cold so we didn't cross the street. But I've read about the Oregon "king tides" and we were there during the predicted time but we completely missed it :( Happy travels! Review #3261
