Downtown or DTR as it is also referred to, is a radio station which is aimed (intentionally or not) at old people. The music they play is often called a "classic" which to a young person classic means an album that defied the boundaries or brought music to a new level. To Downtown, a classic can often mean Lovely Day by Bill Withers or Eternal Flame by the Bangles.

It can be accused to being too easy listening at times and often sounds like one of those free cds you used to get in the paper years ago before Prince came along and ruined free CDs for everyone.
Downtown is the sort of music you stick on if you are working away and like a bit of background noise. Although they do play that horrible shortened version of Sweet Child of Mine by Guns n Roses which is enough to send any music fan over the edge, they still play nice light-hearted music perfect for doing the housework or cooking the dinner. read more
