Inside a Traditional Steak with provolone

Solid option for a cheesesteak! I really enjoyed their grilled onions (which I'm normally not a fan of else where). They put a light amount inside each of our sandwiches. The steak was quite clean and the overall experience was quick and friendly!

This was my first ever cheesesteak, and I'm glad it was here! The first thing you'll notice if you walk into the restaurant (there's a drive through option) is the amazing smell. It's the kind of delicious smell that lingers on your clothing until you throw it in the washing machine. I ordered the traditional steak with no onions and added garlic spread to it. At first, I thought the price for a regular sized cheesesteak was a little on the pricier side ($8 and some change). However, the surprisingly large size of the regular option paired with the even larger amount of steak they stuff your sandwich with definitely makes it worth it. My cheesesteak was delicious. I loved the bread it came with, the steak was seasoned well, and the garlic spread is definitely a must. I devoured the entire sandwich - which is huge for me, considering my stomach would usually only be able to handle about a fraction of it. My only negatives would be that there wasn't enough cheese, and I really wish there was the option to add bell peppers - specifically green ones. While the sandwich itself was great, it definitely could've used the extra cheese and green bell pepper flavoring. All in all, I'll definitely be back to try their other menu options!

Okay, so there are cheese steaks...and then there are DP Cheesesteaks! No comparison. This place takes cheesesteaks to a whole new level! The bread is thick, fresh baked sourdough. No cutting corners here. I ordered the garlic steak cheesesteak with tomatoes, mushrooms, provolone and garlic sauce. They use rib eye and it is an unbelievable flavor. Clean cut and fresh. Very low amount of grease. I don't think there is a better cheesesteak out there or at least I have never had one that compares! They have a soda fountain with regular coke, cherry coke, orange Fanta, Philadelphia birch beer, and a few other choices. Service was quick and friendly. Amazing restaurant and I can't wait to be back!

3.5 stars I've passed by this place many time in the Riverwoods and finally had the chance to try it. Overall pretty great sandwich, but nothing too special. They have a variety of sandwiches but i stuck with the steak mushroom and pepper. The meat and vegetables were okay but the bread and selections of sauces + condiments was mediocre. Might go again if I'm in the neighborhood but won't be planning my day to go there.

this place is great when the food is done right, i came here and they messed up my order, I won't bore with much more details but not only did they rush my order they were rude. I didn't give them a tip and the employee scoffed under his breath "no tip" to which I interjected "excuse me" which was then followed by a hollow silence. I'm more angry that I wrote a longer and lengthy review but I already have and the owner of the Provo location deleted it. It just goes to show how 0 effort is shown.

Mushroom, pepper, onions....and barely any cheese

I've heard awesome things about the cheesesteaks here so I decided to give them a try! I ordered a large mushroom pepper steak and I literally got one slice of provolone. It's not a CHEESEsteak if there isn't any cheese. And if you're going to include peppers in your sandwich how about put more than four slices in it??? And on top of it all, of course I ordered it to go so I didn't notice till I was home. Sorely disappointed. But they get two stars cause the meat was good. Next time though, I think I'll go to Italian place next time I'm craving a cheesesteak.

I love love love cheesesteaks! I've been a "Day 1" with DP. I remember when they used to sell tasty cakes and occasionally did meatball sandwiches. I'm a big fan and can always rely on a good meal here. This location on this particular visit prompted this review because the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. They completed my order perfectly (6 cheesesteaks with all kinds of additions and removals). Ol' reliable DP.

We love DP Cheesesteaks and our family goes often, but this Provo location constructed a terrible sandwich. Cheese was on the outside of my sandwich and my wife had tomatoes on the outside of hers. By the time we got home, 5 minutes away, her sandwich was a soggy mess. DP Cheesesteaks is amazing, but we will avoid the one in Provo from now on.

This place was pretty good. I got the Hot pepper steak with wiz. Personally, I love my steaks to be beyond hot and this was actually a little cold. Awkward. Meat was a tad dry too. Service and sauces made up for the rest tho. read more

My friend from Philly says these are comparable to anything you can get in Philly. The sandwiches are amazing! I go at least every other week and love it every time. Their whiz steaks are just unreal! The only critique I have is you can tell a difference in the sandwiches depending on which cook is working each day. They are always great but some days it is just extra extra good (Friday around 1pm is when I go and that cook is awesome) read more

This was my second time visiting, and I've got to say, I think it might be my last. After last time, I decided to choose a classic cheesesteak instead of the garlic cheesesteak. Surprisingly, this time it fell flat. The taste was okay, but nothing to rave about, and honestly it wasn't worth the price. Oh wow... Well what to say about DP. I'll start with the pros then move to the cons and then leave my final recommendation. The pros: plenty of steak, perfectly sautéed onion, and excellent cheese. The cons: the steak was boiled and consequently quite dry, not enough cheese that really made the dryness of the meat that much more evident, and finally it cost me almost $12 for the combo meal with drink and cookie. That being said, the food is really good and I definitely think you should try it, just don't blame me if you decide after going that you most likely won't be back. I will say though, if I do go back, I'll get extra cheese for an additional $0.70 read more

I really enjoy cheesesteaks and always try to find a good one wherever I go. Up until I found DP I hadn't eaten a good one in Utah. Let me tell you, this is by far the best cheesesteak I have ever eaten. Not only are the ingredients great, but I feel that the common shortfall of a good cheesesteak is less than delicious bread. This place has it just right; perfectly dense and chewy. I also find myself not only craving their sandwiches but also the birch beer, which I had never even heard of before eating here. The location is a little drab and this kept me from trying the place for a while, but now I'm really glad I finally did. read more

My wife and I decided to go largely because of its great reviews on yelp. It was as good as advertised. My wife got the traditional steak and I got the cherry pepper steak. We both agreed that they were the best sandwiches of their kind in Provo. They gave lots of meat and the bread was excellent. And the birch beer was a perfect way to wash it all down. I'm from a place in Jersey right outside of philly, and this place is the most authentic I've had out in Utah! I get the original with wiz and no onions and it's amazing. They also have birch beer which is a Philadelphia gem. My hubby and I come here once a week! read more

Discovering DP Cheesesteaks has saved me a trip to Philly. I love these cheesesteaks. The thing I like best about this place is that they are not stingy with the meat. They really pile it on and the bread, oh my gosh, best bread I'v had since I moved to Utah. I love the fried onions and the cheese and peppers. I could eat here everyday. Maybe I'm being too harsh, one shouldn't expect good cheesteaks outside of Philly, but I had my hopes up when I went to DP. The flavor is only average, the quality is only average, and the price is way too high. It feels like they rush the food out and manufacture it, the meat lacks any flavor that should come with being cooked with onions and peppers. If you want a good cheesesteak in Utah, Vito's in Bountiful is the only place to go. read more

This is the best cheesesteak I've ever had. They suggested that I try my cheesesteak with Cheese Whiz like they make them in Philly. WOW! Moving forward, Cheese Whiz is the only way to go for me. I will definitely return. No bland sandwich here. The Birch Beer is delicious BTW. read more

After reading other reviews I can tell you either hate this place or love it. This may not technically be the best cheesesteak place in the world, but I've never been the Philadelphia so I have nothing there to compare it to. I've had some other local cheesesteaks though and DP's is one of my favorite. Good flavor and reasonable prices. Much better than a lot of other restaurants in the area. Good place for a casual and filling lunch. read more

Wow! I'm impressed.The meat was piled on! The flavors melded together wonderfully. I ordered onions,mushrooms,and peppers. You definitely get your moneys worth. Visiting from Seattle I would rank DP Cheesesteaks in my top 3 for cheesesteaks! Loved the 2 additional dipping sauces also. Great customer service also! It was good. But I doubt any other reviewers have ever been to Moochies or anywhere outside of Provo. You want a real Cheese-steak, you go to Mocchies. I've heard the place in South Jordan is decent but haven't been there yet. Otherwise, DP's is the closest thing in the area so I'll give them that. Also, to DP's credit... only 3 places have even been decent in Provo so far and DP's is one of them. So it's not bad, but yes... there is much better. read more

Perhaps I got a bad sandwich or something but I wasn't impressed in the least with this place. I got the hot pepper steak sandwich which was okay but nothing I'd tell others to run out and get. The mom who prepared the food is a positive clear and happy lady. Food is fresh and looks very clean. Tastes wonderful too. Later I brought my family and friends to try and everyone is hooked. We are stopping by every time we visit the town now. By the way, another reviewer's posting did remind me of something. On some days, the cheesesteaks here can feel a tiny bit unseasoned or need some salt. But I think it is safer than too much. We sometimes add a pinch of salt and pepper ourselves. But this does not change the fact that this is a very nice and reliable place.

They've gotten fancy with two easy to use kiosks to place your order... very detailed lists to customize your order including space to type special instructions. I got my classic with onions, adding mushrooms, green bell peppers and fresh jalapeños... chose my cheese (many options) and about 10-15 minutes later a polite young lady called out my name and hand delivered my takeout... I got hope in 10 minutes and the sandwich and fries were still hot. Looked like a lot of food and thought I wasn't going to finish... both tasted good so, yeah... I finished this tasty grub. So good.

I'm not sure who the monster is that puts catsup on a Philly, but here we are. Portions are decent, pricing is in line (it's not cheap, nor should it be.) There really isn't any service as you order from a counter and pick up your own food at the counter. This does lead me to dislike the tip shaming at the registers. Hours are pretty limited but worth getting here if you can.

Best Cheesesteak in Utah hands down! I will probably never go anywhere else for a cheesesteaks. I have been an Italian Place fan my whole life, until I went to DP. The steak is just perfectly cooked, the sandwich is always filled to the brim with ingredients, and the staff there was more than helpful. The manager walked me through the whole menu and then made me the best sandwich I've had in a long time. And the birch beer... AMAZING!. They now have a lifetime customer and I will be bringing everyone I know in there to try out their food. read more

I love that DP Cheesesteaks focuses so much on being authentic. The Whiz Steak sounds scary but once you try it you will not regret it. The homemade cherry pepper sauce is addictive and the Birch Beer is as unique a drink there is around these parts. Customer service is always exceptional and the overall atmosphere and culture DP Cheesesteaks has created is just fun to be a part of. read more

There was a dog in the restaurant. It was jumping on the dog owner and not behaving like a service animal. It is illegal for a non-service animal to be inside a restaurant or on an outdoor patio. The employees didn't tell the dog owner to take it outside. read more
