I paid a visit here for the very first here last month and I enjoyed it. I was surprised on how close it was to the ASU Tempe campus. The portions are very filling. They have lots of options to pick from. The place is very cool, very college theme. The guy who took my order was very polite and patient with me since I never been there before. The prices are a bit pricey but the taste of the food was not disappointing. Will return here for sure :)

Kind of teetering between a 3 & 4. Really, this is more of an appeal for college kids & 4am drunk/hangover food. There is a very good variety & lots of options, including vegetarian, which is a plus. But, it wasn't the most appetizing & on the heavy side being a total carb overload no matter what you choose. I chose the Oh!Zone, cheese tots & chocolate chip cookie. The cheese tots were not good. At least, not as a delivery option. Cheese was crusted solid by the time it arrived & reheating didn't do much but create more grease. Decent flavor & probably much better fresh, on site. But, the portion size was also pretty small for the price. Not worth it. The Oh!Zone was exactly what I would have wanted in a normal cheesesteak sandwich, just calzone style. It was very good, customizable & the ingredient portions were solid. But, it didn't fill the entire pocket. The sides were just really thick dough with 0 flavor. So, if you look at how much was actually edible, it was 3/4 after discarding the plain crust. Good flavor, besides the bland crust. Again, price is a bit steep for what this consisted of. The chocolate chip cookie WOULD have been good- had it not been overcooked & seeping grease through the paper onto my counter. At that- it was inedible. A crisp, hard & slightly burnt cookie that really did have so much grease it was pooling. While the size was HUGE, it means they need to learn how to adjust the time or temp in baking because this isn't right. Decent price, but poor product. Would I order again? Probably not. I don't eat things like this all too often & it literally is something I'd order if I was up super LATE with a specific craving. This is a great option for college kids or a late night/hangover remedy. Otherwise I wouldn't be seeking it for an actual meal.

This place is great! They are open late. They are fairly priced. They have vegan and non vegan options (aka a crowd pleaser). And the food tastes great. I have not been to the actual location since I ordered via DoorDash. However, I would absolutely order again.

I have had these guys before, I guess I haven't given DP Dough a review. So the vegan ranch buffer along with the vegan cheesy tots where delicious! Very timely, on a Sunday (holiday or not) 3 thumbs up for that alone. Try any of their offerings, you'll enjoy everything they cook up!

my food was completely raw and i was told nothing could be done about it since some was eaten?? didn't notice it was raw till the middle no refund, no remake, just excuse of the weather making the dough not cook right?

We finally tried this place after living nearby for a year. We loved the food! We tried the Italian and the garlic parmasean sticks and both were great. We also loved the garlic sauce that came with the sticks. We even got a coupon to use at another local business! We did have 2 small complaints that didn't ruin our experience - is the marinara sauce needs about 3x more seasoning, and the cookies were slightly burnt. Luckily, the cookies are massive so for 2 of us, one properly cooked cookie was plenty! read more

My very pregnant, vegan self is in heaven right now. I got the vegan cheese bread and it was absolutely amazing. My Omni husband couldn't even tell. I also did a build your own calzone and I couldn't be more stuffed. Hubs had the Parmesan wings and his own meaty calzone and we were both questioning why there wasn't a line out the door. The customer service was also extremely friendly. They mentioned they'll be adding some meatless/vegan items to the menu in the coming weeks. They also have Ben n Jerry's pints; regular and dairy free! This place has something for everyone and is delicious. Highly recommended. read more

I've been trying to hit up more places that have vegan options because of my vegan gf. This place definitely hits the spot for hungry vegans looking to get a nice portion of food and save money! Most vegan joints skimp on the amount of food and charge up the ass for a simple burger and fries. This place though... So happy I found this spot and will be coming back! Super dope spot, tucked into the middle of Tempe. Only calzones and some similar items but a huge selection all of which are good and great price. It's cheaper for two to eat here than any drive thru and lore and better food read more

I ordered the veggie calzone with vegan cheese as take out. The folks were nice and the vegetables were flavorful and tasty but I could have passed on the cheese. It seemed to disappear and didn't add any benefit. Since I am new to the no dairy thing I am learning quickly that there is not substitute for cheese but a lot of things taste better without it. I will go back again, but next time no cheese unless it's on a pizza or something where the cheese is allowed to crisp. Cheese lovers know what I'm talking about. read more

Pretty impressed with this place. We used to come here when it was Gus pizza but haven't been around since we don't live in this side of town. We decided after the fight to go to get pizza since everything else would be close. We were surprised to see it was closed and D.P dough had replaced we were hungry and decided to give it a try. Thank goodness we did this place is awesome very clean and very friendly. I had the Italian absolutely delicious and my boyfriend had the pepperoni very good too. We also had their homemade cookies which they make when you order them and oh my goodness sooooo good. This place is worth the drive and we will be back. read more

Delicious! VEGAN MENU!!!!! Went there with my husband and some great friends. Unfortunately, because of Covid-19 we had to take our order to go but they did not disappoint! Ordered the Cheesy tots and the Danger Zone. Let's start with the calzone. Soggy. Chewy. and not hamburger, but meatballs. The cheddar was not melted-not even a little bit, and the hot sauce was pooled all in one spot. Would I order it again? NO. The Cheesy Tots. Here's a shocker, Tots are supposed to be crispy. INstead, they were soggy, crumbling, and gross. To add to the yuck, the tots were SUPER salty, and there was no ketchup. MUCH too expensive for what you get. Yucky food should be cheap. Will I order again from them? Super unlikely. In fact, NO. read more

This place has decent vegan options from looking at the menu. Went here after a long day of hiking and the only place offering vegan options late at night. At first the staff was friendly and willing to make recommendations. I ordered the combat zone vegan calzone. When I arrived back to my hotel I realized the pizza guy made me a cheeseburger calzone. I thought calling to rectify the situation was going to be easy. I explained I ordered the calzone with pepperoni and all the vegetables. This guy even showed me the vegan pepperoni and he denied this happened. I asked if I could come back and have the correct calzone that I ordered. I was refused and said he couldn't do anything about it then proceeded to hang up. Do yourself a favor and skip this place! This was a waste of my $22 spent all went in the trash. read more

First time coming here the other night and was hyped by all the previous reviews. My mouth was watering just looking at the pictures and menu. I ordered the Vegan Sun Devil and the Vegan Combat one. Looked very good but as soon as we started eating, it really just lacked flavor and didn't taste right at all. I'm used to eating vegan meats and we couldn't even finish half of our calzone. Spent a lot of money on something we didn't enjoy at all. Maybe it's just us but overall didn't feel like it was worth the price we paid. read more

I had a terrible delivery experience from Uber eats in which the company decided to take my ranch dressing turn it upside down and dump it all over my calzone which was not even the correct calzone. The wings were very good flavored and that was the saving grace for the whole meal but frankly folks, this is not a calzone as it was missing ricotta and it frankly look like a heated up hot pocket from the microwave which should not it cost me $15. Overall not impressed by any of it. I recommend you order from someplace else any place else that sells calzones because I'm sure they will do a better job because they will actually give you calzones and not hot pockets. all of this is a huge shame because their wing sauce is actually one of the better ones I've ever had in Phoenix and I will gladly order again except nobody just wants the chicken wings so clean up the rest of your menu and you might actually have a chance of doing a good job. read more

If you're looking for a late night place to eat, this is the place to go. The calzones are amazing and are made fresh to order, not to mention so many different varieties to choose from. My cousin has dairy issues and loved their dairy free choices, he also mentioned that their dairy free ranch tastes better than regular ranch. They bake you fresh cookies, which are amazing, and have the best wings ever, super meaty and are baked not fried! The employees are always so fun and friendly. read more

The calzone dough itself was primo very good. I got the vegan tangy chicken and it really wasn't my thing. The cheese wasn't melty and fake meat isn't my favorite so maybe I just chose poorly, but I wouldn't recommend it. read more

This place is possibly one of the best places to get food in all of AZ. It's great for taste, flexibility, vegan options, delicious cookies and so much more. Atmosphere is mediocre, but you come here for the food, and the employees are amazing. So down to earth, fun and super chill. Every time I visit AZ, I come here. This is my first time dining in, but I've ordered their calzones on ubereats quite a few times. Their dining area is very small and has a Pac-Man/galaga arcade game. I love how late they're open. It's one of the few places with vegan options as late as them, and they have some of the best food around. I'm always craving dp dough! read more

Established in 1987.

In the mid 1980's a dude and his mom came up with an idea that would change college life forever: calzones! Dan (the dude) and Penny (his Mom) named their new restaurant D.P. Dough after their initials. The first D.P. Dough opened in 1987. Today, D.P. Dough delivers ooey, gooey, cheesy happiness on and around college campuses throughout the United States. Don't get us wrong. We love a good slice of pie too. We just don't sell it. Why? Because calzones are way better. That's why! D.P. Dough has been making calzone converts out of adventurous 'Za lovers - both college students and anyone else who is young at heart - since before slap bracelets were cool. D.P. Dough calzones are tasty anytime. But, we are best known for being THE PLACE to go or call when it is crazy late. Who else is gonna deliver you a custom made calzone after the bars close? Two of my tomatoes had active mold growing on them. It was too dark inside to see it but we ate in the car and saw the moldy spot then. The fries are good but way too salty. We really liked the fried mushrooms. But we made our own dipping sauce which was better than the ranch they give you: mix 2/3 mustard and 1/3 Mayo. Tangy and delicious. We get these at "The Windmill" when we go to the jersey shore and the sauce that comes with the fried mushrooms is a horseradish sauce which is amazing (hint hint, Chuck Box). I would eat here again but bring a flashlight to inspect the produce and lower my expectations. It was good, not great. It smelled kind of off in here also. The AC and vents probably need to be cleaned.

The patio is nice with lots of shrubs right outside the rail. The murals on the wall are pretty darn cool - - they're like enlarged historic photos of the area. I love them! And I'm not sure who's giant face is hanging on the ceiling but it's short a spark conversation. The menu here has a little something for everyone. There's the regular loaded fries and wings, salads, and a nice election burgers. We ordered the Philly Salad and the Very Summer Salad with a side order of fries. They make their own ranch, and it is good. I will say they don't seem to skim on salad ingredients either - - the Philly salad was covered with shaved beef, and my berry salad had a lot of chicken and tons of blue cheese. The fries were delicious - - slightly seasoned and crispy. This place is clearly dog friendly. In fact the day we went there was a sweet Pitbull named Daisy who literally hopped up on a bar stool and sat there like a little angel the entire time. The bar had a dog full of water that they sat down on the counter next to her owner's beer. They also have dog biscuits to give. It made my day to see that sweet little dog hanging at the bar having a treat. This really is kind of a spot that feels like it's probably the hangout spot of many people. Great bar food and a good selection of beers. What's not to love?

Okay I will warn you I've had them get my order wrong before. When a new year/semester is starting and during the summer I notice a bit of a drop off on the service, I think that's just when they train new people. I'm not sure what the hiring cycle is though so that's just a guess. I also tend to go here really late at night and I adjust my expectations accordingly after midnight because people get tired. I saw a few reviews about employee hostility but I've never experienced any myself. If the mistake is a big enough deal for me to say something they usually fix it no problem. The site was buggy before but it's been working better recently. I suggest ordering direct instead of through Postmates or some other app because they're pretty generous with free calzone points and you get to see the whole menu. TL/DR it's a reasonably priced college joint, not the Ritz. Caveats out of the way, the food is awesome. I'm not even a vegetarian and I sometimes order the meatless options just because they're good. It's a great place to hit with a mixed group of vegetarians/vegans and meat eaters cause there's something for everyone. As mentioned above, there's also lactose free options. I haven't had any friends try the vegan cheese yet so I'm not sure how good that is, so if you're vegan check reviews from other vegans or just order a side and try it out if you don't want to invest in a whole calzone before you're sure. Highlights: The marinara sauce is bomb, so is the garlic/butter. The macaroni and cheese is really good. I like to get the spinner zone and swap cheese for mac and cheese. One of my friends is a potato fiend and if you're like him I suggest the Falling Rock. It's got bacon and tots. Tip: There is construction out the wazoo around that area right now and I think it'll be torn up for a while, so I don't suggest this as a lunch break location until that clears up. Late at night it's not so bad, just watch for incompetent/drunk drivers. read more

I have ordered delivery from them repeatedly. I appreciate that they provide really good to go containers that can be reused or biodegrade. I also appreciate the vegan options. Unfortunately, as many times as I've ordered and really enjoyed their food (minus the vegan sausage), the last two times we're hugely disappointing. The first one my 'zone' was made wrong and I couldn't eat it because they added hot sauce I couldn't handle at the time. I had made it very clear that they needed to leave the hot sauce off. Fortunately I had a salad to get me by that night, and they put me in the 'make it right list'. The second time - which will be my last time - I made a vegan order and they put actual chicken in it. When I called in disappointed for the most obvious reasons, I was told I already got my free order and then they hung up in a really rude way. It was shocking because I had always experienced the best service and delicious food, but these two last times completely destroyed my trust. read more

My friends and I frequently drive 45 minutes from Glendale just for the calzones here! The Dough is perfectly crispy on the outside and light and doughy on the inside! It is always overflowing with cheese, no matter which calzone (or "zone") you get! They are huge and hard to finish, but they are still super good cold from the fridge or warmed up in the microwave the next day! This is the perfect place for where it is located, they deliver and are open until 2 or 3 in the morning every day!! Perfect for all the college kids surrounding this restaurant! This is always a great pick! I never regret the long drive it takes to get there! I'm actually craving one right now! They aren't extremely expensive either for how much food you get with each order! Happened upon this place after a tiring visit to the Phoenix Rock Gym. My friend and I were famished, so we chose to stop and get some calzones. We are both very glad that we stopped, because we enjoyed our meal immensely! I got the Combat Zone calzone and it was stuffed with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, green pepper, and copious amounts of perfectly melted mozzarella. The marinara on the side for dipping was also a nice touch, since my calzone was sauce-less. It was just what we needed to re-energize after rock climbing, and if we are back in the neighborhood, D.P. Dough is definitely on our list. It isn't fancy and the place is tiny, but the food speaks for itself. read more

This place is amazing! I was never really a fan of calzones, but I decided to try D.P. Dough one night and that was it, I was in love! My favorite zone is the pesto zone with grilled chicken. I introduced this place to my boyfriend and his roommates and they think it's awesome too! I order delivery and I also order take out, either way this place never disappoints me. There was one time where my delivery took a bit more than 45 min long, but that was only because they ran out of 20 oz sodas and my delivery guy had to go and buy cans of soda, of which I got 4 oz free! To say the least, I would recommend this place to anyone even if they aren't fans of the calzone. read more

First off this place is open late which is awesome AND they have a VEGAN calzone! (might be on that secret menu tho ;p) Every time I have come in here I am treated like a queen and the staff is super accommodating and friendly. I only get the vegan calzone but every time its super yummy and I can tell it was made from someone who enjoys their job which = made with LOVE! Their cookies although not vegan are a super yummy and warm when you get them. So happy they are close by because I go almost weekly! My favorite Calzone place! I always have to have the Sun Devil zone, Pesto Sticks, and I always use the Vegan cheese. Every time I come into D.P. Dough it's packed, the place is always pumping with cool music, everyone seems happy to work there, and the calzones are hot and delicious. My favorite part about this place is when I'm not up to driving they deliver to me! Love that they carry Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and fresh baked cookies. I appreciate the food provided by DP Dough, their calzones were stuffed with the yummy fillings and was perfect to split between two mildly hungry people. It was crispy, hot, yet easy to eat and wasn't much of a mess. The atmosphere reminds me of a good old fashion New York City dollar pizza joint, however has its newer Tempe feel. The pac-man and the chalkboard in the back of the store added a nice touch too. I overall had a perfect experience with the employee's as they helped me find what I most wanted. read more

I used their delivery service! Online ordering was a breeze. A friendly young man delivered with a smile on his face! Food came fast & hot! Our Order (fairly large) came correct! I personally had the pepperoni calzone which was stuffed with fresh ricotta and mozzarella cheese with a side of delicious marinara sauce. I loooved the garlic butter dipping sauce! This is my girlfriend and I's 3rd time at this restaurant. Every time the food has been OUTSTANDING. Their menu is so easy to go through and they have options for literally everybody. The staff that worked the night shift tonight were all super pleasant. All 3 of them gave us great service and we appreciate all of them (the owner is also super nice.) Is this place entirely just a joke? First off I walked in and the employees could careless that anyone was there. Second off when I went to order the calzone the told me it would be and additional charge to have spices put on top of the calzone! Are you kidding? I was very pleased to have genuine conversation with the manager and staff even if for a short time and in the middle of the night. Went for vegan Monday's for the first time and was really impressed! The calzones were amazing and the vegan sticks were also great. They also have their house made vegan ranch which was pretty good considering I don't typically like some vegan ranch. And the vegan coconut chocolate chip cookies were crazy good.
