And searching for a doctor in a foreign country (which is my second home now) when you do not know the medical system, is a tough thing to do. Luckily, my colleague suggested I visit Dr. DeCock, who speaks perfectly English and his office is opened every day from 17:00 to 20:30, which is very convenient. I didn't have to wait long in the waiting room, the doctor greeted me, shook my hand (unimportant detail, I know, but well, that has never happened to me) and suggested a mild treatment before we resort to antibiotics. He informed me thoroughly on how my situation looks and what is the probable development. He gave me all the certificates I needed, understood very quickly that I do not take part in any national health insurance scheme (EU employees bla bla bla...) and I was gone back to bed in 10 minutes. Also, my children love to go to her because she is always explaining what is she doing and my boys are very curious and they ask a lot of questions. Nevertheless, she is always explaining, caring and very gentle doctor. When Dr Bedoret was on holidays I had a crazy flu and I went to Dr Giraud from the same medical cabinet, MediWoluwe, and she is very professional and very caring doctor. In my case the flu is becoming infectious and I need antibiotics. Both ladies doctors agreed without asking them to give me this medication even in Belgium all the doctors send you home with paracetamol. So, they are both excellent doctors and excellent persons. Over the…read moreyears the treatment just got sloppier, not patient-friendly at all and it has left me with an overall bad feeling in my stomache. They are just rude, seem stressed and over-worked, but most of all, they will make sure that you, the patient, will be blamed for it. If you're sick, sorry, you can only call them between 8h and 12h. if you don't manage to get through, you will have to wait until the next day. Most of the times your appointment will postponed with another few days (which is practically impossible if you need a paper to leave work - no understanding from them, no, they won't shy away to tell you 'YOU should understand what a busy life and important job THEY have). You're always put with another doctor, they are not conventioned (screw the poor people) and they will charge you the full rate even if they haven't performed any medical tasks (examination, prescription..) and occupied their time for 5 mins because you had a information question..
