I have gone to this store a multitude of times within the past few years, and I can tell you that I 100% disagree with the reviews, as I have found the staff incredibly helpful, insightful, and most of all, friendly. I have recently struck up a few conversations with one of the staff members, who are all awesome people IMO. The only piece of criticism that I can give this store, is that they need more spectacular spider-man merchandise. That sounds silly, but it is a beloved cartoon for many of my generation, and my friend and I agree that it would be awesome to see some of that in the store. Today my mother went into Dr comics in Bracebridge to get my son a gift for his birthday. The sales staff at the time were helpful and polite. However when I saw what she had paid $120 + tax for it made me question the value. After a very quick search online and quick call to a comic book store we have frequently visited we have determined the comic was worth at best $10. Feeling disappointed I gathered up the book and drove to Dr comics, politely I had asked for return. I was denied and told it was store policy. After explaining that my mother was unsure of what she was buying and she had only left the store 20 minutes ago I thought for sure we would be in luck, however no dice. They did offer a exchange but after checking a few more prices we would only be overpaying for something else. So I asked again for a return and still no. I feel my 65 year old mother has been scammed. I ask that you please share this post so that people who my not know better can make an informed purchase. read more

If I could score this business lower I would. I have been there quite a few times, and each time found their staff less than competent or professional, but figured'whatever'. Went there a few days ago, well within business hours only to find the visible staff ignoring us at the door and closing early - despite 2 OPEN signs and a posted sign of hours indicating they should be open for another hour. I tapped on the door, in case it was just a momentary closure, and the response was rudeness and snark, and indeed, the very embodiment of every bad stereotype of their generation. Quite sad. This is not how you run a business or handle customers. I tried to support a local business, but I will be returning to amazon, ebay and other online sources, where the selection and price is better anyway, and recommend others avoid this shop and save themselves the nonsense. read more

I truly wish I could give this store a higher rating. Unfortunately I can not. I am an Indie Comic Illustrator/Writer and we just recently moved to Huntsville. I was encouraged to find Dr. Comics in Bracebridge, only to be disappointed with my first dealing with the owner. I was looking to sell a large batch of Back Issue Comics and the owner offered an insulting price, but not wanting to continue storing the comics we accepted. What should have been a simple deal dragged on for several weeks with the owner dragging his feet on paying the agreed sum. As to the store the prices were too high, the hours poor and what is advertised as a comics store is more a Pop Culture store which happens to have comics. I will not be returning. I truly hope the owner learns how to run a comic shop soon and begins to build a community treating customers as a valued asset and not just a source to squeeze every dollar out of before closing up and moving on. read more

Toronto Store in Orillia, The Selection is a Joke and the prices are wildly over priced.The Owner of said store doesn't know how to run a business nor does he know now to treat customers. He sets rules and hours of events in and out of his store and proceeds to not follow the times, Example of the Comic Book and Toy event he did, I got there at 4:20-4:30 and they were already closing up, Even though the event was suppose to go till 6:00 PM, Never tried to smooth things over just shrugged me off. He obviously has no clue how to run a business and if I could give this location lower than One Star I would. TLDR: Owner is cheap, And over prices comics to obscene prices. read more
