When I was little this was the place that my Mum would take me when I was faking a sickie to get off school. It was always a battle of who would crack first but mostly it would end in the doctor telling Mum that I didn't have a temperature, my blood pressure was fine and I looked healthy. A raised eyebrow from Mum and stubborn avoidance of eye contact from me and I would be back at school the next day. Ah, the memories. The Wantirna Medical Clinic is pretty standard on all counts. They have the waiting room with the tv playing sitcoms in the corner and a little kids section with toys. The magazines are all months old and even with an appointment you're often left waiting for up to ten to fifteen minutes. The doctors here are very good though and they don't take any rubbish - particularly not from little girls pretending to be sick so they don't have to go to school. The appointments here are generally pretty quick but can last up to 15 minutes depending on your health issue. The receptionists are friendly enough and they do bulk billing.

From making the appointment on the phone all the way through to paying for the appointment was a great experience. Friendly service from all staff, no wait time, I went right in. Dr Kaur was thorough getting to know my family history. She did the check up and it was all very professional and painless. If you're looking for a good female doctor, you'll probably find her here. I paid $86 for the appointment and was told that I'd get $30 something back from Medicare. Worth it!

My first and all subsequent appointments were with Dr Kirshner and she is fantastic. Dr Kirshner took the time to get to know me, understand lifestyle and medical history in a way no doctor had before. She gave me a general check up that was very comprehensive as well as addressing my specific concerns, and explained the reason behind the various tests she was doing. The Epworth Freemasons is expensive for a GP service, but for me it was worth the peace of mind. There is also a Men's Clinic in the same complex.

Such money grabbing tactics are not ethically sound in my view. I didn't mind the Dr not being on time but to then be charged for that 20 mins I wasn't even being consulted is very unfair. Further to the above and after even having it being confirmed as sent twice by Dr Hare, the practice manager Robyn withheld urgent information for over 2 weeks that needed to be sent on for a surgery approval due to an accounts error. This vital information was never relayed to me as I could have remedied and thus it has put my surgery back by at least 1 month due to it now almost being Christmas. AGAIN, MONEY GRABBING TACTICS AND AN EXTREMELY POOR CASE OF NOT COMMUNICATING PROPERLY GETTING IN THE WAY OF DECENT PATIENT CARE. Robyn wasn't even apologetic, just arrogant.

My session with Dom not only fixed a rather bad neck injury faster than you can say, "it was the dancing what put my neck out. Honest" but also came complete with a gratis history of Australian folk heroism and some great advice about finding a holistic GP in Melbourne.
