I would like to say from the very start that I am casting no aspersions on the competence of the…read moremedical staff at this doctor's surgery. Indeed, I'd struggle to do so, since I now avoid going to the doctor's full stop, such is my loathing of this surgery. Hampton Medical Centre is home to a large group practice. You are unlikely to see the same doctor twice. In order to keep waiting lists down, they do not take appointments beyond the same day. If you need to visit a doctor, you have to phone first thing on the morning you intend to visit. This is fine for an acute illness, but extremely annoying for chronic conditions. The reception staff have, in my experience, been one step above brain dead, and rude with it. I realise they are paid appallingly, but again, it is hugely off putting. The impression one gets when visiting is that you are wasting their time, and all staff really have things far better to do. Whilst most of the medical staff I have dealt with have been ok, there is one doctor whom I can't stand, and I doubt his abilities - and others I have spoken to have felt the same. The waiting room is large, with the typical health information posters and out of date magazines. There is also a children's play area. The reception staff sit within a square, and often don't seem to notice people walking in. There are a large number of services on offer, as you'd expect from such a big practice. Nevertheless, I now don't go to the doctor. Ever. I should at some point, but won't. I do think it is time to change my practice.

Bad, bad, bad…read more The service is terrible. You never see the same doctor twice. You can't guarantee a decent diagnosis. When I asked about giving up smoking I was told to call the number an the side of a bus!!) The receptionists are not at all helpful and insist on you announcing your problems in front of the whole waiting room. You can't very often get through to them when you need to and by the time you do get through, all of the appointments have gone. Oh yes - and it just feels dirty in there too.

I am really impressed with this family practice. I've seen several doctors here for a few random…read moreissues and they have always been very helpful and kind. A few times I've had to make an emergency appointment and was always able to get one. I highly recommend it.

I have just moved back to the UK after ten years living in Australia , I have been a little shocked…read morehow over this time away the NHS and Doctors have become so infatuated with budgets and have no problem in being open about this with their patents Heath bridge medical practice is a prime example of this . My little boy has an occasional bad night cough, in Australia he was prescribed a drug that worked amazingly well for the very rare time it was needed . I requested this drug at heathbridge and was told although it would be fine to use and it would of course work it was "very expensive" being 40 pounds ....this the doctor was very hesitant to do for me ..and initially refused saying this would be flagged up by the managers , She suggested that should the cough come back ..I should take him in late at night /early morning to A+E to sit and wait for some of this drug!! I couldn't believe that she was actually serious and was happy to place my 3 year old son in great discomfort and a prolonged wait in A+E so the practice would stay in budget After a few "frank" words it was agreed that I can have the drugs that will help my little boy if I agreed to pay privately for them ..(happy to do this) ...but it does go to show this practice in its true light. This is also not the first time practice budget have been brought into the conversation when discussing drugs I have required for myself or family . If your NHS you are very much second class ..i would not trust or wish to be seen by this practice should I ever have a serious problem . My summery of Heathbridge would be , generally OK , but I do have the feeling that the doctors feel the patients get what they pay for (or not NHS ) Since my multiple brushes with "budgets" I no longer trust I will get the full medical picture or best advice / drugs from this practice and will be moving in the next few months .
