This is a brand new home, I am the first rental tenant. I moved here from west Texas and need temp. housing until my new home is built. I have owned and built MANY homes....do not buy from this company. The kitchen cabinets are falling apart. They are made from MDF which is a mixture of saw dust and glue. I contacted the leasing agent because the dishwasher has pulled out of the cabinet, this falls under "builder warranty". Nothing has happened to correct the issue. The dishwasher was attached to this flimsy trim piece and not secured in any other way...simply opening the dishwasher has caused the cabinet to fall apart. This would never happen with real wood and good quality workmanship. I truly feel sorry for the person that owns this home. It will be in pieces within a year. They build 20-30 houses at a time with garbage materials and standards. I wouldn't pay one penny for one of their homes. Very sad read more

DR HORTON HOME BUILDER - Harker Heights, Texas

Was told today that they were unable to fill the cracks and to "paint over it". Every family and friend I've talked to has said when they have had their home built that they've had the cracks filled from the home settling at the one year mark. We've been living in this home less than a year and it is a brand new build. Apparently DR Hornton doesn't do that. Had a crack in the tile in the bathtub wall and never heard anything back. The garage door randomly stopped working because it was jammed, which according to them must have been my own doing, but how? So obviously not covered. The superintendent tried to be helpful but it was really just a waste of both our times. Would not recommend and will not recommend in the future. Seriously disappointed with this company. They sell you on it and then don't care once you close. read more

My husband and I were looking for our dream home and thought DR Horton was the way to go. Unfortunately their loan Dept DHI said we could only qualify for $80,000. What? A military family of nearly 20 years? Only $80,000? It was an insult and it didn't sound right. We decided to go with a different local lender, Fairway Independent Mortgage. They qualified us for $224,000. We move into our dream home tomorrow and btw, it looks better than anything DR Horton has ever built and is less expensive. read more

I've lived in my newly constructed home for about 2 yrs. Would never purchase a home from this company again. A.C went out after about 23 months. Two story home with cracks in the walls. A fixture in the restroom fell out randomly. Someone later told me that it seems a casing was never put on it to hold it in. The master bedroom shower leaks somehow into the wall and now there's a hole in the wall. When I've contacted the company they've either told me it's been past the two years warranty or given me some b.s excuse as to why they are not going to fix it. They left paint on the tile thoroughly the house when it was built. When They sent Someone to fix it, it appears they begrudgingly cleaned some of it up and told me how to do it so I can do it myself. After I thoroughly inspected, the paint hadn't been cleaned off everywhere. I understand things happen, but who wants to spend $275,000 on a brand new home and have complications right away??? read more
