Despite my genetic hypermobility, I lacked the musculature and training to kick above my waist. Master Giamo recognized my untapped potential and took me under his wing. I am now a 5th Dan. Master Cashatt treated me with the utmost respect and helpfully challenged me to rise above my circumstances. Throughout my experience at the school, I have always felt respected and encouraged. Whether directly from Master Cashatt or from one of his excellent instructors, I learned to accept instruction with humility and respect under all circumstances. From the get-go, I was always encouraged to live by the five tenets of Taekwon-Do (courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, indomitable spirit) both in word and in deed. I did not have to look far to find role models when it came to these tenets. I've come to regard Master Cashatt as one of my first and greatest mentors who has not only spurred me on to such great feats as earning my fourth degree black belt, but also earning a gold medal at the International Taekwon-Do Federation's 2010 World Championships in South Korea. While I could certainly continue lauding him and his school for the fantastic things they have done for me and my peers, I must also speak to how much of a family we are at Master Cashatt's school. Over the years, we have lost several students to tragedies, and we as a student body felt each loss. We shared in mourning and we worked hard to comfort each other in grief. We've raised thousands of dollars over the years in support for our members and our families in times of hardship and tragedy. Master Cashatt's school truly goes beyond the call of duty. Master Cashatt and fellow instructors even attended my father's memorial service this past April, something that is not required, not expected, but done nonetheless. I cannot fully express my appreciation for Cashatt's Taekwon-DO School Inc for the work that has been done in my life, but I do know that it is from this fantastic foundation that I will go on to spread this same love and passion for Taekwon-Do in the world. Not only did they help and support me. They helped, supported and guided my son. He's been a black belt for some time now. The training they did since day 1 to today has helped him develop himself and the confidence. There's a lot I can say but it will be a book. I'm writing today to say marital arts (any style really) will help your kids become better people in life as far as building confidence and strength. Here we are today. Done High School and just about to enlist in the army. I know boot camp is intense. What I'm not worried about is the physical training. Because he's already use to it. After the first lesson, he was given his white belt and beamed from ear to ear. Now it is a few months later and he still loves going there. Next month he will graduate to his yellow belt! The environment is friendly and casual. This is very much a family business. There are often three or four instructors for each class, which is great for the younger students. The class splits into various belt colors (white, yellow, orange) to suit their different skill levels. They play, exercise and practice respect and self defense. They also offer classes for adults, kids summer camp, host patents' nights out and birthday parties. They are pretty awesome.
