History

Established in 2015.

Dragon's Gate Comics opened in December 2015, a small beacon of general nerdiness in an area that didn't have any dedicated comic stores for nearly two hours in any given direction. The shop opened with an advertising budget of $0 and has slowly built a following strictly from word-of-mouth. We're still small, but we're growing, and we're committed to providing the best service and selection we can.

Meet the Business Owner: Chris R.

I've been a comic fan since I was six years old. I fell in love with the rich history and memorable characters Marvel and DC had to offer, and before long I was a walking encyclopedia of random comic book knowledge. My parents supported my growing addiction because--hey--at least it got me excited about reading! As I got older and realized I had neither the skill nor the patience to become skilled as a comic writer or artist, I pursued a degree and eventually a career in journalism. Moving back to my hometown after college for family reasons, I took a job at a local newspaper, but after a while I realized it just wasn't for me, and I had some success selling some of my comic books on the side. One day, at a local event, I was offered the opportunity to open up my own shop in nearby Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, and I haven't looked back!
