I have very little pain, and the affects of the general anesthesia are subsiding. Dr. Politz spends time with his patient before the surgery, explaining everything and answering questions. He just called me tonight to make sure I was doing ok. How many surgeons give a patient their cell number? His bedside manner is superb, and his skill and experience is evidenced by his having performed over 10,000 thyroid and parathyroid surgeries. He is one of the best in the country - people come from other states and even other countries to be cared for by him.

Once I got to the patient room my vitals were taken, everything was high but the nurse didn't seem to care. Cool! I then had to wait 1hr and 20 minutes for Dr.cho to basically tell me to take allergy medicine for my hives. He like to talk fast to try and speed up the appointment I noticed I also had pictures of my hives that I wanted to show but he was only interested in taking a Quick Look at one of the MANY pictures I had. He also likes to talk over you as your explaining anything I ignored him and continued talking. Honestly I should have walked out of the office after 50 minutes. I've never been to a doctors office such as this but I'll definitely be looking for a better immunologist.

Despite getting there at 8:18 AM and doing everything I could to be timely, I was turned away and told I'd need to reschedule. It took me nearly 40 minutes just to get there, and being sent away over an 18-minute delay felt incredibly disheartening--especially with a toddler in tow. I was referred here for an allergy test and was told the first initial appointment would only be a consultation. The lady at the front desk advised me that consults can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, so if I was 18 minutes late, doesn't that mean there were still 42 minutes left in my appointment window? It just doesn't make sense that I couldn't still be seen. To make things more frustrating, I received an email at 8:26 AM--after I had already been turned away--titled "NEW PATIENT PAPERWORK" That tells me the paperwork clearly wasn't expected to be completed beforehand and could've easily been filled out after the consult. Offices are always quick to request payment but seem far less flexible when it comes to showing basic understanding of real-life situations. Unfortunately, I will no longer be referring others--especially my fellow Tampa Bay WAG moms--to this office or doctor. There needs to be more compassion and flexibility, especially when dealing with parents of young children.

Update 1.5 years out: since the procedure. I rechecked my labs a few times. My calcium was fine…read moreeach time, but my pth was slightly low. I was instructed to continue to take calcium for that low lab. I also continued vitamin d since it was trending up but still low. I was worried that I was going to have to take calcium for the rest of my life. But thankfully, my recently pth levels are normal. My vitamin d is finally in the normal range too. It isn't in the optimal normal range but it will get there. I just wanted to share that incase someone freaks out about pth being low after the procedure. So hopefully my labs will stabilize and continue to stay normal. Will update if anything changes. The scar is barely visible too. The incision was made at my natural fold. It healed nicely.

She also takes her job very very seriously and at one point in time she had to stop the testing because the readings got too high. Well , we'll see what happens and how I feel.
